What if Sony does the same?

I really hope they don't but I could see it happening. Specifically the used game thing, I doubt they would require online checks.

Another shitstorm.

I don't understand why so many supporters of XBONE are using the excuse of Sony possibly doing the same thing. Yes, that possibility exists. People are going to sling shit their way too when it happens.

PC gaming then as manufacturers and publishers seem to think that console with all the negative of PC WITHOUT the advantages is a good idea.

If Sony does I'll wait until they stop making games for PS3 and 360. When that time comes, and if it's still bullshit with PS4/Xbone, I'll get a Wii U and upgrade my PC.

Everyone moves to PC.

A smart gamer should either have or have already been looking into a potential PC. Even if only a modest one but it's not expensive.

I would even say that if the new Xbox is 500 or even 400, you can still build a decent PC with that budget.

They've already said they won't.

This has been misinterpreted by a lot of people, I think. Sony, as a publisher, wont. They are allowing 3rd party publishers to make their own decisions on it though and there's a very good chance they follow suit with the same strategy they're facing on their Xbox and PC versions.

Passing the buck to publishers is not a real answer.

This is my fear regarding what Sony has mentioned, yes it's left up for the publisher and we can assume that EA will do it since they are removing online passes but just because they don't do it themselves does not mean it's ok

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
I'll be a Wii U only owner for the next round of consoles I guess.

The fact that I would have to buy/trade/sell/lend a game I paid for on someone elses terms really irks me.

If I want to give away a game I paid for but don't really play anymore to a cousin or friend, it should be my full right to do that.

Truth be told at this point I am expecting them to. I am sure the game makers are beyond thrilled with what Microsoft is doing. I would think if Sony does not want to follow this plan game companies may get upset and put some pressure on them.

They still need to further clarify their stance on used games (possible fees etc.), but they have already confirmed that the PS4 is not always online.

Actually it is. Because I can openly avoid games by publishers that pull this shit and buy other games by non cunty developers.

But if sony comes out with exactly what MS is doing and makes it mandatory then they can go fuck themselves too.

If that happens I'll just put more focus into building up my library for the Retron 5 when it finally releases. That and PC gaming I suppose.

I wouldn't move to PC gaming, Sony in particular has some amazing first party IP so fuck that I love gaming so I'll have to try out the exclusives this time and not miss out like i did last gen

If Sony does the same then i'll wait for a price drop and still buy a PS4 because it has better games. I can't live without Uncharted and God of War.

I know that Sony's philosophy seems to be on a complete different direction than what Microsoft is trying, what do you think it might happen to the gaming industry?

Edit:

To clarify, the same regarding:

Online checks at any period of time

They alread denied the online part.

PC gaming would begin to look a whole lot more appealing to me.

Steam is always online, so is Origin and I doubt you will find used PC games anywhere (hint once a CD key is used, you can't resell it)

this is why all this anti used games and always online stuff doesn't bother me one bit. I have been using Steam since the day Half Life 2 launched

Yes, pretty much. If it's up to publishers then fair enough, i'll just avoid all of their games (i don't give a shit about any of EA or Acti's games anyway). If it's system-wide like MS, then they can go fuck 'emselves.

Steam and Origin give you the choice to be offline mate. Steam has the offline mode and Origin games (with the exception of a selected few, like ME3 and BF3) can be launched without having to log on, last time I checked.

I guess the only difference is that the price points are different and that you are not bound by specific hardware and also that you can still play offline

What was the backlash when Steam first came out? I remember some friends being all against it back in the day.
