I've been telling myself for a while that I want to start watching CHIKARA, looks like this weekend is a good time to actually act on it.

Here's the second part of Diamond Dave's video about his love of Pro-Wrestling;

David Lee Roth: A Personal History With Professional Wrestling - Part 2

Looking forward to watching this, Part 1 was great.

Definitely, CHIKARA's iPPVs are always very well produced and it should be a really great show - there's a lot of storyline stuff going on around this show, though, so you may want to read up on a few CHIKARA blogs (http://www.chikarapro.com/blog/, http://olewrestling.com/) or check out their youtube channel; http://www.youtube.com/user/CHIKARAoffice to get up to speed with the storyline - also, there's a bunch of CHIKARA fans here who'll be more than happy to answer any questions any new viewers might have :)

Sweet, thanks for the resources!

Well that was an interesting couple of weeks.

Long story short - I went into the hospital, had surgery, got better pretty quick but took some time off work to recover. Went to Raw on Monday, got really drunk. Back at work now. Wheeeee

Oh and:

Is that from last night?!>.. PEPSICITY?!?!

Nope. Didn't wear a mask this time around, but I really do want to get that one.

Oh and:

Glad you're better. Sad you'd left. Was it something minor-but-pain-in-ass or mega-major?

Aiii

So not worth it

But the million dollar question is: did you sufficiently appreciate Bret Hart?

Oh, wow, glad you're OK man. Sounds like you've had a rough week or so.

Has Chikara said anything about the timeline stuff?

Nope, it's all fan speculation at the moment - the working theory seems to be that when Kingston first hit Archibald Peck with the Backfist to the Future he unwittingly sent Archie to the future, but also unwittingly created an alternate, 'evil', timeline in the process. The question now is whether our timeline is the good timeline or the evil timeline - in this timeline Wink has a lot of power and is using it to make big changes that aren't pleasing the fans (Sugar in FIST, the mixing of the Colony & the Swarm, the introduction of the Colony: Xtreme Force, awarding the Xtreme Force last year's King of Trios, etc), while CHIKARA legends Quackenbush & Soldier Ant are no longer on the roster, Icarus (of all people) is becoming a fan favourite and Eddie Kingston is being seen as a heel and doesn't really understand why. It's quite possible that our timeline is the evil one.

The Archibald Peck stuff is even more confusing. Remember when Archie first got backfisted to the future back in 2011? He found himself in 2015 and had acquired a copy of the CHIKARA sports almanac that said he would win the Young Lion's Cup in 2011 - when he returned to the present and then didn't win the YLC, that proved that history had been changed, or that we are indeed in the alternate timeline. Fast forward to the Loser Leaves Town match last year - half-way through the match, Mixed Martial Archie is injured and heads to the back, only for Archibald Peck to return, lose the match and be forced from CHIKARA. Most people assumed this was a costume change, just as they had assumed that MMArchie was Peck's more serious, fighter persona, but what actually happened was that Eddie Kingston and Mixed Martial Archie got into a fight backstage - MMArchie ate a backfist to the future, but was sent BACK in time to 1885! So who was the Archie that came out and lost the Loser Leaves Town match? The Archie who got hit with a backfist during the Tag World Grand Prix this past May 18th! Then there's the Mysterious & Handsome Stranger, who RD Evans claims is none other than the same Mixed Martial Archie sent back to 1885. So that Archie was reinstated, as he'd never actually lost any Loser Leaves Town match in CHIKARA, only to find himself sent back in time once more (at the aforementioned May 18th show) where he takes over for himself in the Loser Leaves Town match at Chikarasaurus Rex. Confused yet?

So there's two Archies, with the Archie on the balcony at the Tag World Grand Prix as the original who has been absent all this time - MMArchie was The Mysterious & Handsome Stranger, but also was AND wasn't the Archibald Peck that lost the Loser Leaves Town match. Haha. I love CHIKARA storyline speculation.

Archibald Peck #1 - debuts in 2011, is backfisted to 2015 and returns with an Almanac that says he'll win the YLC 2011. He doesn't, which proves that history has been altered or we're in an alternate timeline. Disappears shortly before Chikarasaurus Rex 2012, only to reappear with Swamp Monster & Lance Steel (two other noted time travellers) on the balcony at the 2013 Tag World Grand Prix when Archibald Peck #2 is backfisted back to Chikarasaurus Rex 2012.

Archibald Peck #2 - debuts in 2012, is injured during a Loser Leaves Town match and backstage is backfisted back to 1885. Returns to the present as The Mysterious & Handsome Stranger. Unmasks and is reinstated when it becomes clear that he isn't the Archie that lost the Loser Leaves Town match. Is backfisted at the 2013 Tag World Grand Prix and sent back to 2012 where he loses the Loser Leaves Town match and is banished from CHIKARA.

Sort of both I guess? I had gallstones which caused me severe stomach pains for small periods of time over the past couple of years and last year they caused me to have a bout of pancreatitis. I didn't realize at the time how severe pancreatitis could be, but it happened to me again on the 14th.
I was hospitalized that night and a couple of days later I had my gall bladder removed. I was up and ready to leave almost immediately, but the recovery from surgery has been more draining than I expected.

But the million dollar question is: did you sufficiently appreciate Bret Hart?

Well I drank enough that parts of the night are erased from my memories. But I forgot that I had some percocets left over which I could have taken at the show. So no, I don't think I fully appreciated what the Bret Hart night had to offer to the best of my ability.

I've appreciated Chikara's intricate storytelling in the past, and I'll wait to judge until we see the whole story, but so far, it just feels like Chikara's trying too hard to be obscure for obscurity's sake.

WWE and Warner Bros. Head to Bedrock

STAMFORD, Conn. May 29, 2013 – Warner Bros. and WWE Studios (NYSE:WWE) today announced they are once again teaming up; this time to co-produce a Flintstones animated movie to be released in early 2015.

Fred, Barney and the whole Bedrock gang join up with Vince McMagma (Vince McMahon), and WWE Superstars and Divas including John Cenastone (John Cena®) and CM Punkrock (CM Punk®) as part of the very first WWE main event.

“WWE is family-friendly entertainment, so partnering with Warner Bros. on a Flintstones/WWE project was a natural extension of our Scooby Doo deal,” said Michael Luisi, President, WWE Studios. “This new, animated feature allows us to showcase our brand with young fans and loyal Flintstones enthusiasts alike.”

“Warner Bros. is thrilled to continue our partnership with WWE Studios as we begin production of the latest Flintstones animated feature,” said Jeff Brown. “Our recent production collaborations have proven successful and we have the utmost confidence that the latest tag team between the WWE Superstars and The Flintstones will deliver the same results.”

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will handle worldwide distribution on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download. The film will be co-produced by Warner Bros. Animation and WWE Studios. WWE will utilize its extensive global reach through its television, digital media and print assets to market the release of the film.

Bradley Buchanan, SVP of Business and Legal Affairs negotiated on behalf of WWE Studios. For more information, visit Corporate.WWE.com.

It's all good. Trying to think about CHIKARA is asking for trouble, just sit back, accept and enjoy.

They went out an found the most miserably unentertaining thing they could that persists solely through sheer nostalgia and shameless merchandizing and decided to do a cross over with it. This is like the corporate version of fucking a mirror.
