Assholes. Bought a gimp pack for the white, and not even 6 months later, they make a white pro.

Assholes.

I want that battery.

Finally. I was thinking of buying the basic model because I don't really like how the current premium looks(It should have been white matte plastic, but oh well), but now I will wait and see if/when the white premium comes to Europe.

Just for the battery and charging cradle? That sounds way too expensive. I'd really like official ones, though. I love how you can charge it with the Wii Remote jacket on. I might just buy four Eneloop batteries for twenty bucks.

Yeah, just for the battery and cradle.

The Japanese Price of 4,200 Yen converts to around $41, so it's probably going to be $40.

$300 32gb white premium is what i wanted in the first place. i never needed nintendo land. now if black friday rolls around and i can get some good games on the cheap, this will be mine. oh yes, it will be mine.

I must be the only Wii U owner in existence who hasn't had any problems so far with charge length on my gamepad. Makes me feel like I'm not playing it enough.

Nintendo probably pegged it right when they thought that the average Wii U owner would be fine with a 3-5 hour charge. The issue is, most people on NeoGAF couldn't be described as an "average owner." I totally agree with the others that have said that Nintendo always planned to release a bigger battery [for power users].

I bought rechargeable batteries for the Wii remotes a long time ago, but I do like the idea of a chargeable pack with a cradle, so I don't have to switch out the batteries.

And this is the first I'm hearing of the new Nyko battery also. The GamePad battery hasn't given me too much trouble, but I'll bet it will once Smash Bros. comes out.

Ah damn I would've wanted a 32 GB White one.

Though it probably wouldn't come out in the US anyway, so moot point I suppose.

Neat. I've always wanted official Wii remote chargers. I've been holding out getting a new remote to compliment my Wii U in the hopes of this happening.

I'm expecting the Basic to be dropped. This new model for $300 and offer some sweet bundles for $350 this holiday.

The fuck? I can see Nintendo Land and a Wii Remote Plus costing that much, but a battery and a quick charger going for $30-40 from yen conversion???

Uh no. Check your self at the door when you get stateside.

Even if Smash bros came out this year, there are not that many months in Fall. No sane company would cannibalize itself with like 8 releases in 3 months.

These months are more than capital though – PS3 / Xbone (?) will be launched during that window and it's right before Holiday. Could be a game changer for the Wii U.

Yeah but that's internet console warz reasoning. A company expects their games to be bought and it's hard to do that when you have multiple $60 products in a small timeframe forcing people to choose or wait for a price drop.
Correct e if I'm wrong but I don't think Nintendo ever released that many games in the same period even in the DS days. Or 3DS for that matter.

And let's not even talk about keeping things for 2014

I feel like they'll keep a pack-in game. Maybe it won't be Nintendoland, it could be NSMBU. It'd give a boost for NSLU, for sure.

This isn't worse than the 3DS XL with no charger included.

I don't think Nintendo is being "cheap" necessarily when they go for low power hardware. I get the business decisions involved. But I cannot believe they released a 3DS without a charger. That's the most ridiculous, cheap cost-cutting thing I've heard of.

Actually I find it would be even better to sell GamePads with no battery at a lower price – this way people can chose between regular and extended battery. No matter what you say NeoGAF, there are a lot of people who aren't bothered by the 3-5 hrs life of the regular GamePad. I myself don't care much since I have multiple electrical plugs in my flat, including one I can use when I'm in my bed. Increasing it to 10 hrs for the sake of it isn't worth $30 imo.

$300 + nsmbu and a 32gb memory dealy would be really nice. the system needs it, but that would pretty much be exactly what i wanted at launch (well aside from most wanted, rayman, and pikmin 3 also at launch).

Logical step. TBH, they should never have bothered with that waste of space basic model and just launched two premium versions. Still, better late than never, and seeing as hardly anybody owns this thing (yet?), it won't piss off that large a portion of the fanbase.

White gloss is fine and I would have probably picked it up over the black one if I had the option - especially now I know how easily the plastic picks up marks, which are always hidden better on white.

As for the charger - looks fine, but really is long overdue.

Excellent call with the battery. I know some might feel it should have been included as default, but I assume Nintendo had targets to reach wrt cost and weight. At least there is an official route to improve the battery life now, although I haven't found the default one prohibitive yet.

The thing that stands out on that list is that the Zelda game is listed as a Wii U title. I suppose that's referring to Wind Waker HD, but then we're ignoring the 3DS game. Hmm...
Maybe it has a second page that's missing?

No 3DS games are listed for the Fall/Holiday, except for Pokmeon which has a more specific launch date.

btw

Why is the NSMB logo back there? Nintendo demoing NSMBU? I know they demo their older games at these events sometimes.

While I can't stand the fact that Nintendo has waited this long to release a Wiimote charger, I might actually bite on this since I have 3 Wiimotes that constantly are dead with crappy third-party battery packs. I missed out on playing a ton of Wii games and Gamcube games so this might be a good time to get into my backlog.

Classic fuckin' Nintendo. Finally learned my lesson after the DS Lite came out. I never buy anything hardware-wise from them on day 1. In time, something better WILL come along. Now, all I have to do is wait for the console revision and some games I'm interested in, to buy a Wii U.

Good luck with that plan, Nintendo home console revisions typically remove features, not add them or improve them.

Nintendo selling a bigger battery pack for the WiiU gamepad. You money grabbing bastards. You're taking the piss and you know it.

Does that nyko battery fit perfectly beneath the cover on the back, or does it stick out like a lot of their other batteries?

Damn. Now I'm undecided wether to pick up the new Nyko battery or theirs. Yes I know Nyko's lasts longer but I'm still unsure about its quality, I don't want my GamePad destroyed.

A full control set (wiimote + nunchuck + battery pack) will cost actually like 2x a dualshock or any other pad ever sold.
It still amazes me that Nintendo doesn't bother including at least a nunchuck with every wiimote. It's a required piece of hardware for many games, even in multiplayer and is essentially a plasticky thing that will cost 0.50 to manifacture.
