New GTA V previews

I've preordered the 360 version, the only advantage i could see with the ps3 would be the free online, but i play mostly single player anyway.
I'll wait for the PC version to give the multi a shot.
One disk is another advantage I guess. I hope any extra disks just require an install and I can play from one. If it's one disk for 360 my mind will be blown.

Has any preview commented on 360 and or ps3 versions differences? I got IV on 360 but I havea special edition pre ordered on both. Just want the best version possible

Nope and don't expect any before release.

Open world R* games I usually get on my 360.

It looks like this will probably come down to very small differences and probably controller preferences.

has any multidisk 360 game ever worked that way? I'd love it if it did, but cant recall any that have. Do we even know if it will be on multiple disc?

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen did that. There's been no word on multiple disks. I'm just assuming.

I don't know anything about the technical aspects between the two versions, and I don't really care. All I care about is what I see with my own eyes. And what I see with my own eyes, as someone who owns both console versions of GTA IV, is that the 360 version looks better. The PS3 version looked muddier. Character faces appeared to use less polys. Sunrises and sunsets looked beautiful and natural on 360. On PS3, it looked like someone sprayed orange juice on everything.

LA Noire looked better to me on 360 as well, but that was back when I had a 2007 Bravia that couldn't do shit with a 720p signal, which is what it ran at on PS3. It would probably look fine on my new Bravia, but I'll probably never know because I loaned out my PS3 copy almost two years ago and don't know if I'll ever get it back.

RDR, never played the PS3 version. I saw enough comparison vids to know I didn't need to bother.

What the... wat? The only thing I have noticed better on gta4 is the sharpness on 360 but the dithering was really awful. Frame rate has been fixed after DLC patch, it was quite close in Tony Gay. Honestly if someone want bet to best version it's only pc, I doubt on ps3/360 will see crazy difference at this point. Maybe 360 could have more grass knowing R.

Are there any multidisk 360 games that were released both Retail and Digital Download? Did the digital version have some weird form of digital disk swapping (like FF7 on the PSone Classic store, lol)

Wonder if there will be a day one digital version of GTA5 for 360.

idk about you guys but I was blown away when I played red dead redemption on 360 after completing it on ps3. I can't even explain what it is but the ps3 version is just uglier. noticeably too.

That map doesn't look very big to me. Maybe I'm crazy or I'm remembering wrong or something, but it doesn't seem like it's much bigger than San Andreas.

The highway system doesn't look extensive, either. SA had more highways (but it also had three cities, so it was sort of logical, I guess).

I know it's a fan-made map and all, but yeah.

Haven't played the 360 version, but the PS3 version is Sub-HD, with a shitty framerate in towns.

I don't think that map is very accurate to be honest.

Honestly, I was too.

I think it was the addition of more grass or something!

I’ve got the PS3 version pre-ordered, but even if the 360 version ends up having the slight edge with the graphics...I think the game being on one disc is an even better deal.

360 version was way better. I mean the PS3 version is fine, but it was noticeably better on 360.

Worst of all, I never even touched GTA IV because it was so poorly optimized on PC. Framerate issues at the lowest quality weren't just my computer's problem... ; ~ ;

Plays quite well at 1080 on my reasonable rig now days. Got the set for 7 bucks on Steam too.

Yeah, I always hear that it was a rough port.

Supposedly it is much improved these days on PC compared to when it launched, though. Might be worth revisiting since it apparently looks great and is always on sale.

My laptop sucks ass so I can't really confirm either way, but yeah.

Man, I've had this picture as my desktop for weeks now. I've got my 55 inch hooked up as a third monitor, so I often stand in front of it and just look at it.

Everytime I watch Drive I think to myself "I can't wait to cruise around nighttime Los Santos".

I really think the zoom level of the partially released map and every fan map made using it as a reference and comparing it to SA or GTAIV is throwing people's perceptions off. The simple fact that we KNOW there are 8 lane highways in GTAV yet all the roads look as wide as any other GTA map should tell you something. The scale of the environment vs. character size looks much, much bigger than San Andreas.

How does it look, stretched on a 55" screen?

Looks glorious, but probably because everything is far away. It's a better picture than the one I posted - imgur compression I guess. It's probably got some bullshotish elements to it.

It's good though, I can stand half a meter away and just run my eyes up those mountain ridges, imagining hurtling down them on an ATV. Or running a tractor trailer full speed up that embankment behind the farm silo and into an oncoming train. Or seeing how low I can fly that plane along the road without hitting any vehicles. There's heaps of detail just in that shot - it pretty much sums up the fun I'm going to have in the country.

That reminds me of something I saw today whilst skimming the GTAForums map making thread:

Everything is much bigger compared to GTA: SA

Yeah such a shame about RDR on PS3. I was PS3 only this generation, and I saw it on a 360 one time and thought how different it looked. It was the same depth of tone issue you see in lots of multiplatform comparisons (to me mainly anyway).

PS3 version always looks incredibly washed out. And of course it's sub-HD.

So I'm hoping we'll get a re-release next gen, in time with the sequel. Because, I'd be so surprised if the sequel was ever as good as RDR. That game was just so brilliant.

Anyway, sorry for derail.

I need an excuse for missing several weeks of work when this releases. Maybe I should try to break something non vital for gameplay.

Has Rockstar come out and said there is no Next Gen version currently or that there is no version planned?

It has been discussed in this thread already most likely but that is something that would be a huge surprise and system seller for me.

They won't say anything that will negatively impact current gen sales at this time. If they have a plan, they won't be saying anything until sometime after launch.

I haven't seen the 360 version of RDR so cant compare it but the ps3 version to me still to this day looks incredible...

Not washed out at all, FPS drops in towns obviously but except from those 2 or 3 towns, its pretty smooth most of the time.

I have RDR on 360 and Undead Nightmare on Ps3.
The difference in IQ is very visible.

I seriously love this shot... the atmosphere, the plane, the long stretch of open road to really put the pedal down.

Yeah, sorry, didn't mean to say it's not pretty.

Visually speaking, it's an incredibly accomplished game on either platform. I just turn the contrast up on my TV, and turn the sharpness down, and it looks like an SD movie. :p

Hmm, I hated GTA IV and RDR but then I was never blown away with GTA 3 or VC but fell in love with San Andreas.

I'll probably try the game just to check out the map. RDR improved on the tank controls of GTA IV, if they can just improve the carrot-on-a-stick approach to the story and eliminate some of the pointless stuff in GTA IV and RDR this game could really be good.

Why would Rockstar demo the PS3 version if it is that much shittier?

ya i was thinking about this too - because 360 was usually their demo platform for the previous titles.

this gives me confidence for PS3 this time - together with one disc and free multiplayer...

No one's saying V will be worse on PS3. No one knows. We were saying Red Dead was worse on PS3.

They haven't said anything. Nothing for or against other versions. And I'd imagine it will stay that way until early next year.
