The Kinect claimed the Guinness World Record of being the "fastest selling consumer electronics device" after selling a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days.[18][19][20] 24 million units of the Kinect sensor had been shipped as of January 2012.[1]Phones and tablets are modern day essentials that can play host to casual games. Those users don't need to consider the videogame console, which is still a luxury device, especially as there is no new video disc format. They are never coming back, at least until the price reaches impulse buy territory.
Their disposable income is locked into the phone/tablet upgrade cycle and they are quite happy with that.

Very short-sighted. The Eye is not Kinect. And we have no idea what Microsoft has in store for the new Kinect. The tech is certainly impressive. All those saying that the camera is cheap need only look at the cost of a standalone kinect sensor on any store right now. Its a significant cost for little benefit, kinect games so far suck.
