Whatever Microsoft is cooking, Kinect is not the end of "gimmicks" coming to the Xbox One.

Those leaked slides last year mentioned an Occulus Rift type device named Fortaleza.

Yep.

I think MS can win E3 pretty easily, they're the only ones who don't have to cater to multiple serious assets like sony(vita ps4.. and even ps3) nintendo (ds/wiiu). Nintendo will most likely take it though because of nostalgia reasoning's. If MS prices the 360 mini(there surprise) at a good price point they will dominate the fall.

Neither Conker or Banjo would probably end up selling well unfortunately. That train has sailed.

I think Banjo has a better chance at selling.

The Xbox doesn't have any exclusive platformers for quite a number of years.

With the right marketing, being a new generation, I think they can do well. They'll never be 5m+ selling franchises again but then neither is Fable or Forza, and they get pushed out at a rate. If any rare franchise (besides KS) can do 2.5m or more it's a success to MS imo.

I'm pretty sure they'll have one for launch. I'm hoping for Banjo/Conker but I don't think we'll be seeing those. Probably a new IP which I wouldn't mind at all.

There's plenty of hype in the thread, it's just hard to see when there's only like.... 20 different regular posters who post here. Other Xbox fans have gone and got themselves banned, and everyone else is just more hyped for the PS4.

But who knows, come E3 that might change.

Did they all get perma or temped banned?

Don't know why I'm thinking about this now.

Anyone who remembers part of Halo 2's ilovebees ARG (alternate reality gaming) marketing hype misses it.

I wonder if the Xbox One can touch upon it.

A new dimension to ARG.

A new audience to gamers who loved the idea in the past.

The video game industry hasn't really touched on it.

I wonder if that means Xbox 360 backwards compatibility through the cloud in 2015.

Hm.

It wouldn't surprise me. Apart from a few things not working out, they've stuck pretty tightly to what they initially proposed in the PDF.

It seems they were even hinting at the NFL fantasy football thing, and this was 3 years ago.

Launch titles can have long legs. See Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo. According to Rare, they both sold well IIRC.

As others have said, just give us better games. I know Microsoft isn't making them directly but I sometimes wonder if they are spending so much time on non-game things that I have little to no interest in. I am sure others do care about Kinect and others....I just prefer games.

What do you mean by that? If you mean 1st party games, then they definitely are making them directly.

Does anyone else think they should have a pack-in game? Maybe directly on the HDD since they're going to be mandatory this time?

I know, I know, obviously as consumers we want the most bang for our buck as possible, but I think a pack in game immediately sweetens the value proposition for almost all people, not to mention it introduces an IP to as many people (who buy the console) as possible.

Maybe it's just a Nintendo thing, but games like Super Mario World and Kinect Sports were HUGE reasons as to why people bought those systems. Hell, I think that's one of the savviest moves Nintendo made during the cut-throat Genesis/SNES era. I think a great game packed in immediately makes people a little more keen on that large price-tag. I know it's bad for short-term revenue, as it removes the sales of one possible game, but Microsoft is obviously thinking long-term, and this is going to be one of, if not the longest generation ever. Hell, maybe they do it with a big name F2P game instead of a traditional 60$ title.

Of course, they will, even if it's something as bland as Hexic HD (which was crazy amazing at the time actually).

I think what would be awesome, would be a choice of 1 of 3 unscaled versions of XBLA games. Like Castle Crashers, Splosion Man and Peggle.

Well, if the rumours are true about a console exclusive version of League of Legends, why not just automatically install it on every X1 that's sold. It's free to play, so why not.

Unless I'm missing something that would make that a terrible idea.

What do you mean by that? If you mean 1st party games, then they definitely are making them directly.

That and people seem to really not know how much of an impact a publisher has on the product- even if done by a third party. It's usually the publishers money so they will have hands on every step of the way.

Otherwise devs miss milestones, have feature creep or the product is poor or incomplete.

With that said, sometimes publisher influence can have a negative impact.

I was thinking of something larger, no offense to Hexic HD (friggin' awesome game). Something that felt a bit more substantial; larger than a puzzle game. I really like your picks though. Three awesome XBLA games!

Yeah, that's exactly the F2P game I was thinking about if the rumors are true.

Both are great ideas. Kinect Sports HD (or whatever) to showoff the new Kinect capabilities and the other to bring people to the online goodies.

Yeah, all listed above sound good. But, if smart (and by smart I mean, what I want

) what would be awesome is a nintendoland like game. To really show off the the kinect but not with sports. I've had my fill with sports, between nintendo/sony/and MS I'm done with casual sports. I liked nintendoland. So, I would love a mini game-athon.

A horror game to take advantage of recognizing heartbeat. Some other kind of arcadey racing game with head movement. Maybe an arcadey mech game (since the kinect one was fucking broken). I'd love a cheesy, fishing that could capture how much your 'pulling' back on your rod and make sure you're not breaking your line... etc. I think they need a series of games that actually shows Kinect 2 actually works.

I'll try to have a look here more often then !

I'm not a fan of Microsoft IPs but I'll buy this sytem, i always do... :-/
Something that would make me go crazy at the Xbox conference : PanzerDragoon !!

I don't think it matters so much, really. It's more about getting as diverse a group of game buyers on your platform as possible. Those people that buy conker or banjo are people you will want to possibly make other One related purchases throughout the console's lifespan.

It all matters, even when they don't sell millions and millions of units. If the game is quality enough and attracts the right set of gamers, that very gamer will help propel and strengthen the platform later, sorta like having Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey brought a lot of gamers onboard the 360 train that wouldn't have even given Microsoft's console a second look if not for those games.

Problem is I don't think they're touting full kinect games anymore. I'd say 60% of their focus is for Apps and the OS,30% for subtly enhancing controller games, and 10% for kinect only games, which will come from their 4 Kinect studios and Just Dance/Dance Central.

This is true. Plus, you'd give credence to kinect.gif and all the folks who like to mock.

I'm of the mindset that you can have more than 1 way to have fun...

is it possible that MS give one of Rare's ip for a different team,

For example, combine the rumor that on historical Rare IP with Insomniac exclusive, maybe it is Banjo made by Insomniac?

I think they will have a Kinect game aimed at the casuals for launch. I don't think they want to end up like Nintendo and launch a system with a peripheral and not have a game to showcase the thing.

Wow, the dislike count on any Xbox One video that is even slightly positive is ridiculous. Not that it really matters, but still..

Anyway, it seems that everyone at Microsoft is very confident for their E3 reveal, so it should be interesting to see what sort of announcements are to be made.

Yeah, and it's funny because at the end of the video they say they liked the PS4 conference a lot more and were more excited about the PS4 at that point.

Those guys were great, really miss them not working together anymore. Almost met Victor Lucas last year here in Toronto last year but I was too late.

Totally, their chemistry on EP was always fantastic.

Platformer would be awesome. New Crackdown would be amzing. I would love to see crackdown where you can kick someone through a building and see the building be destroyed from doing this. New gears would be awesome but I'm thinking that open world minecraft game they showed off? I forget what it was called? Killer Instict 3 :) Halo Spin off would be a nice fresh breath of air into the series. I would really like Halo wars though. I wonder if Black Tush will show since Don Said he wanted to but Phil said no.

So, someone mentioned a few pages back that the top-right block and the one below it could be Ryse. I didn't think the top-right one was, because it didn't have a similar aesthetic, but I kept looking over the image and found this interesting:

WthKgC4.png

I still don't think they'd use one game for two different blocks, so could the game below be Fable 4? Or maybe could the top-right game just be another game with a sword and shield? I mean that's not really out of the question, but I thought it was a funny coincidence.

A new Halo Wars controlled with a controller, with optional voice and gesture control could be great.

That 3KB video is a very good take on the actual situation here. I admit, I was extremely hyped before the reveal, and then that hype very quickly deflated and turned almost into a sort of bias towards Microsoft, because of the gaming worlds mantra against the system at the time. I mean, just hearing so much negatively switched some sort of logic meter in my mind and I turned a bit biased and wrote off the system, but not completely. It was easy to join the shouting side with so many people with that opinion already. I've always enjoyed PS more as I grew up with it, but I've also had a regular 360 and a slim, on which I very much enjoyed Gears for long periods of time. After seeing this video and having all the hate die down a bit more, I feel different, because there is so much more to be said, so many more games to be shown and things to be clarified, such as exactly how the used game thing and all that will work. In the end, I hope they do what they say and show mostly games if not all games, and the title I most look forward to is from Black Tusk Studios, partly because the studio name is so beefy and badass. The hype is back in business baby!

Agree and felt the exact same thing 100%. Then I started to just remember that they were saving the gaming side of things for E3 and I quickly was excited again.

I'm excited for both consoles, and I'd rather enjoy the positive stuff than sit there and stew in the quagmire of negativity about everything. I understand a lot of it is valid concern and criticism, but there's just a lot of noise out there that just gets annoying after a while. I'd rather at least wait and see the whole picture before I decide which I get, and what appeals to me the most.

As far as the negativity I want to at least want to let them explain the negatives and benefits of there systems before raising pitchforks. It may not be as draconian as we think....

It's gonna be Kameo, but as a double header with perfect dark again, like last launch

I'd be happy with it, perfect dark needs to come back

I wish Banjo would come back but idk.

They're not going to abandon their plans, but as long as they come up with a system for letting friends borrow games (without being there, that's stupid) then the only main problem is going online once a day, which whilst is somewhat annoying for some it's ... pretty ridiculous to get bent out of shape over. I think most of the hate is over used games anyway, and AFAIK they're not charging anyone extra and they'll still work. It's just the borrowing thing and selling privately.

The indie thing .. sounds like bollocks on behalf of forum goers and media, from what I've seen written it's no different to how MS did things on 360.

BC should be a solution via Xbox 360 Mini.

Other than the lack of power compared to PS4, that'd pretty much answer all concerns people have with X1 (apart from going online once a day)

Edit - Oh and the Kinect thing, yeah as long as the rumours about being able to 100% disable it are true they should be fine there too.
