So you're upset not with the events, but the fact that the violence went on for too long/ The way they did it was poor?

I can see that, but I still don't agree :p

Exactly.
An event like this must absolutely be violent.
But there are better way to handle it.
I think they went overboard and that it went against the powerful depiction of the event.

But I absolutely loved the way the events unfolded, and the balls of steel of the writer.

So that wasn't a spoiler about Arya... Sweet zombie Jesus GAF, don't do this to me!

No. Hound knocking her out was done in the books as a death fake out, with it being told from Arya's point of view and just "seeing a axe come down on her head."

In all fairness I find it pretty split on how many book readers bought it, even coming right alongside the wedding. I never bought it.

Oh wow! hahaha

Dammit Fuck this thread. I saw it pop up this morning and instantly thought well then looks like something crazy happened on this episode. Once i got near the end of the episode i saw it coming. The extra amount of time they spent showing how happy they were together and naming the son ned it was just like well looks like they're going to get killed here. I mean what else could it have been at that point? Much prefer to go into an episode not expecting anything and to be surprised/blown away. It was still a great episode but come on!

Episode 9 of HBO shows is always when the big shit happens.

Season 4 probably won't follow that rule though, insane things should be happening every episode.

I'm so glad I haven't read the books yet. Holy shit! I knew it was coming when that music started up. From then till the door closed I was like, "no... No... No no no no."

So good. My jaw dropped.

At this point I'm convinced GRRM is just trolling everyone.

Yup. THIRTEEN YEARS AGO.

As someone who had this reaction when the books came out it is the most delicious thing in the world to see the internet reacting to this. Don't worry everyone, things will get better ;)

I was really angry when it happened because it was spoiled for me. It would have been shocking if I had not known. I didn't feel sad or anything because of it, except for Arya.

My girlfriend asked that we watch Scrubs after that to "lighten the mood". She never watched Scrubs before so we're watching them all since the beginning these days.

Tonight's episode: My Screw Up. You know the one.
Her reaction at the end: "You have got to be fucking kidding me" haha

In the book it is graphic on a much worse level, and one of the characters prominently shits themselves. The show toned the scene down, except for the womb stabbing.

Spoilered just in case people don't want to know how it's depicted in the book:
Cat saws through Frey's grandson's throat until she feels the knife scraping against his spine (it goes into detail describing his gurgling and the fact that he is shitting himself), then she claws her own face until the flesh is stripped away in ribbons and her throat is opened up.

Yeah, in the book Arya gets knocked out with an axe blow, but it happens right at the end of a chapter, which makes you think she bit the dust too. In the show they just showed the Hound knocking her out.
Yep, that part got me more than just the Red Wedding alone when I read the books. The way it plays there, your mind figures Arya just became another victim and coming right on the heels of the wedding massacre it is very hard to take. It's definitely a "put the book down" one-two combo that the TV folks missed out on; there could've been riots at the HBO headquarters had they gone that route.

There's " in your face " story telling and " in your face " graphic violence.

They could have shown the massacre begin, and close doors, or shown arya under a table seeing the body fall one after the others, or so many other things.

It's just the " cutting throat with blood everywhere in full frame and full frontal four times in 30s " that I found a bit too much. Especially the last one, between the 10s pause and the sudden cut to the credits ...

What the fuck

just saw it, holy fucking shit!

At this point I hope the story for Arya becomes about her training to become an elite assassin. Get trained in brutal swordplay by the dark hound later leaves to search for the magician/assassin to learn magic and be a stealth assassin. Probably won't happen but the red hair witch did say to Arya she would have lots of bloodshed on her hands or something like that.

A non-book reading friend told me that she watched the episode 4 times to make sure she fully understood what happened. Poor girl. I couldn't watch that 4 times.

So after seeing what the book people were trying to keep secret for a few years now, do the no-book people have trouble not spoiling it for the people who haven't watched/don't watch the show yet?

i don't get why people are blaming robb. he's the victim in all this. as well as the others. getting killed in a wedding is unheard of.

there were few posts blaming robb before the wedding, and predicting bad stuff will happen. which is understandable for things like letting go of the hostage who is the son of a lord with many pirates...reavers....ironborns. or killing one of his supporters. he had good intentions but i can understand why he would get blamed.

now of course, there are a lot more people blaming robb than usual. how is he suppose to know walder is a vengeful fella? or roose was going to betray him? the boltons were serving the starks for a long time. and it's a wedding. you know, usually a good thing. where good stuff happens. like edmure dodging several bolts, and lucked out. he's a kid (aged up of course) who was taught by his father to be honorable, and that there are traditions that people will follow because there are gods that will enforce it.

if anything i blame cat. but that's the hate in me. i don't really blame her too.

Same exact thing for me. Some random douche in a dota 2 match once spoiled it for me. :(

maybe that was me or my cousin. if that was you though, you did ask what happened.

And he broke that by marrying someone else. Plus he was warned that the Squib Filch (Frey) was a cunt by pretty much everyone.
