What 21 points off the Metacritic average means is that Polygon should have had a different staff member review it.
What 21 points off the Metacritic average means is nothing. With a capital N.

since Bulletstorm.
Reading that Polygon review, I tell ya, what I disliked most about Uncharted was the gunplay, both in terms of game mechanics and in how disjointed it felt from the rest of the 'experience'. If The Last of Us is the same in that regard, =/
It seems the more games try to directly mimic reality, the easier it is to shatter the illusion of reality those same games try to create. When the rest of a game tries to be so realistic in its narrative and characterization, and then suddenly I'm killing waves of other human beings (!), that pulls me right out of the narrative and all I'm left with is another dumb shooter. (I guess I'm alluding to Uncharted here more than anything though; like most of us I haven't actually played The Last of Us yet)
Nope, you got Gears of War: Judgement instead.Oh man, I'd love a sequel to that
I'll accept like... an 8.5 maybe, even. The Metacritic is 89.Fuck you guys, I like Jade Empire.

There's liking it, then there's treating it as if it were the best game ever made or at least one of them. It's telling IGN went with a completely different, more level headed review for the PC version and I think every so often comments pop up where they acknowledge how over the top that review was.Fuck you guys, I like Jade Empire.

9.9 is ludicrous.
You could try , I don't know, reading or watching the reviews, instead of questioning anyone who points out how ill informed your opening post in this thread is.I don't see how you can tell me the game play mechanics are fine if you haven't played the whole game. Bad shooting might be fine if there are two firefights, less fine if there are twenty.
I have. I'm not in the habit of assessing a game based on two levels.
Was bored, because I love ND and because I can't wait for this game!

So much pretentious bullshit in alot of these reviews.

So why are the Xbox Magazines reviewing this game?
Just to lower Metacritic ratings, or to tell there fans they aren't missing anything?
I never read Xbox reviews in a Nintendo or PlayStation magazine.
You get that alot in 10/10s.
For the record I didn't expect it to score so high, was expecting a 87ish and expecting MP to disappoint.
I still have to try the game myself out, but I'm guessing most of the praise comes from the impact SP leaves on you.
This says nothing about the game though. Just a bunch of numbers. Was bored, because I love ND and because I can't wait for this game!
Really? From the Naughty Gods? Craziness.
Fuck you guys, I like Jade Empire.
Jade Empire was a great game and had some of the funniest bioware characters ever. But yeah, it's no 9.9 and the combat was pretty damn straight forward.

I don't think they're worth the scores they usually get, but you can acknowledge that there was a high chance they'd be getting scores in the 90s based on their track record with critics.Really? From the Naughty Gods? Craziness.
Do you plan on buying this game at all? Just curious. So much pretentious bullshit in alot of these reviews.

TLOU sounds amazing from the reviews... but to be honest im more anticipated for GTA 5, and that's really saying something seeing as how much i detested GTA IV..... and i just have a feeling GTA 5 will turn out to be "game of the year" and possibly generation
i want TLOU, slightly to win because its new, but judging from the previews of GTA 5.. I never seen a more ambitious video game in my life
Based on what?
GTAV trailers haven't exactly blown me away.

Michael's trailer had GOTY potential on its own. The other two characters were okay.

GTA's never about what's in the trailers. It's about how everything comes together when you play the game. Nobody does open world like Rockstar.
And yes, read the previews. If everything pans out, it'll easily be the best playing GTA yet.
The guys who made Gears sure as hell did:

GTAV's more the kind of game I'd rather pay full price on and get sooner than later (not that I'm sure I will, but I think I have a pre-order still at Amazon), but after last year I'm honestly kind of expect a dark horse to charge in and win GotY from most sources. Heh, watch it be DayZ Standalone or something. Both will be amazing games that there is no reason to even think which one should win GOTY or which one will be better. Just know that both will be an amazing experience.
