UC2 is easily this gen's greatest game. I can tell you that this TLOU will win GAF's 2013 GOTY award ,and will either match or exceed UC2's record of 150 GOTY awards :)

Uncharted 2 is okay. I mean it's fun but I wouldn't say it impressed me as a game.

You contradict and fumble over your own points I'm not even sure why I'm debating this with you. Simply put, you have poor opinions, and seem to have one set of standards for one game, and a completely different one for the other. It's like you forget that there's also grenades in UC2 that can often force you out of cover, as there are melee armoured specialists etc. You also claim there's similar verticality in Gears, but that's horse shit. Not only is there no where near the same degree, but you don't have near the same freedoms because you can't jump, climb etc. Your nit picky and misplaced complaints contrasting to similar defences when it comes to other franchises is pretty damn humorous.

To clarify, just look at the train level from UC2, then compare it to the one in Gears and Killzone. That about sums up the quality, design and ambition differences between these franchises.

He does have a point about Uncharted's gunplay being dull. It absolutely is. It's the weakest part of the game.

Hate to bring this up, but Madden 25 will be the GOTY (you know, the GOTY award to rule them all) based on the previews I've read and you're all just going to have to get over it. Got it?

Season pass - 1 side story and 2 map packs with 2 new game modes.

I wanna bite....hoping this game keeps me going till ps4.

(Looking at summer releases.....it's a dust bin until Aug 20 splinter cell blacklist, then GTA5 in sept....which I've never understood the hype)

It's cool, didn't mean to pile on. I replied before seeing basically all of this page.

And GTA V is like my most hyped game in years so I probably have no room to talk.

see what i mean.... i continued to get disrespected, after i apologize....

so apologies aren't good enough it seems

If something as little as this is getting to you, wait until you get into actual fights here where other users go around prouncing around that their platform is the best platform, or their game is the best game (and its exclusive) than the platforms you own, or their favorite developer is the best developer on the whole entire world, no contest (platinum fans are notorious for that last one).

You need to takes things lightly on neogaf, or you will be trolled and get frustrated too often. If something or someone is bothering you, its BETTER to just take a rest and ignore them rather than continuing and getting upset.

It doesn't matter. People will still say that enemies are bullet sponges years from now like they call out Uncharted on. You can prove some of those people wrong, but the uneducated masses will assume the worst.

I swear in golden abyss it was one shot to the nogin and death. Helmets are a different story, but they are obviously there for a purpose.

To me, it doesn't matter that a headshot is a one hit kill if body and limb shots aren't capable of changing how the enemy moves and reacts. That + being a damage sponge is why I'd call out UC (1 + 3 especially) for having spongy enemies, and why I'll do the same for TLoU if it follows the same design. If you're going down the path of even semi-realism with ballistics in a shooter, firearms have to look, sound, and feel satisfying and powerful to use. It's a combination of visual effects, sound effects, and enemy + environmental reaction to those effects. Not many games get all of it right and it's the #1 reason I've become bored with shooters following the Call of Duty twitch-peashooter mold.

In the case of The Last Of Us, even enemies with helmets should fall if hit in the head, regardless of if they die. Body armor shouldn't be a license to effectively dumb down the knockback power of a weapon in a game like this. Admittedly, I haven't seen an enemy with a helmet being shot yet, so this might prove to be the case.

Oh man. That PS3 envy again. Haven't felt this since LittleBigPlanet. Might have to strong-arm my brother into buying this.

LittleBIGPlanet 2. The reason why I bought a PS3 along with Infamous 2.
and the less important multiplat arkham city

My investment paid off by the way. Not for me, but my brother played that for a complete year despite entering the game late in the year.

*sigh* if only the Vita versions servers weren't a complete mess plagued with network errors. It wasn't the way it was at launch.

You're going to look back on this in six months and feel silly, and it won't have anything to do with which game ends up being better.

Disagree. I would argue it's some of the most fun I had this whole gen from a TPS. The vertical aspect + traversal elements make it a really fun and dynamic experience. This really shines in the MP. Constant and agile movement makes it so much fun. Throwing back grenades, shooting while jumping etc etc makes it anything BUT a dull aspect of the game.

Yeah I was just poking fun as I am sure other members were too. Getting defensive is definitely not the way to go. Just keep your cool and you'll do fine. And stay on the topic of the thread...

I hope Easy mitigates the damage spongy aspect of enemies here. What I'm hearing about combat here is a complete turnoff so now I just kinda want to be able to barrel through for the experience whenever I get to play it. Bioshock Infinite pretty much killed my tolerance for that design.

I love the run and gun aspect even if theres no guarantee of hits. Its risky and its fun, might not be unique but the way drake runs away or charges with the gun forward into their frontlines is exciting. Especially when a grenade is lobbed from where you are covering.

Well if you are playing on Easy won't that have an impact on the AI? They might play a lot recklessly and stupider.

I disagree as well. Uncharted combat is the combination of gunplay, traversal, and melee. I will grade all in the same group because it all meshes pretty well. The only game I can think of without sponge soaking enemies is basically Call of Duty. Gears of War is literally filled with sponge soaking enemies that takes near a clip to take out, yet it gets ignored.

Call out the genre as a whole if you're going to do that.

Number one rule of the internet man, don't get frustrated on the internet.

You know that thing where whenever you do something stupid your best friends are the only ones who wont let you live it down? Its like that man just take it in stride and you'll be fine, getting frustrated is exactly what they want you to do but its all in good fun.

I'm sure you will be an outstanding contributor to the GTA V threads :p

Edit: Or not. Dust in the wind.

wow all because i said gta 5 will be better then TLOU

i say read the previews, because people that are dissing gta 5 are basing it off their hate of gta 4, and havn't read the previews yet

You're coming across like a youtube commenter/gamefaqs user. Just saying.

Edit: Shows me for not refreshing the thread, didn't notice he was banned.

Yeah, I'm really hoping the combat isn't too big a negative for me. Didn't really enjoy most of combat in Uncharted (though 2 had some decent sections).

What if you didn't do anything stupid any your best friends won't let you live it down?

Apparently I "ditched" my friend in the middle of the Monster Truck boss fight in Twisted Metal (2012) co-op. I keep trying to explain it to them that I went to gather a large assortment of weapons before I unleashed fury. They just don't get it.

Well my Uncharted playthroughs were always like this: I'm platforming and exploring = fun. I'm moving down waves of spongy enemies = I wish I was already past this section.

Some of the stages were fun when you were able to run to melee most of the time, but those were kinda rare. (I agree that the MP was much better, but I played it in the beginning when people played crazy tactics still)

Nah, its pretty great. Wouldnt have spent so much time in multiplayer if it was just dull. There are lots of exciting shootouts to be had.

It's what I loved most about it. It's very dynamic and gives you lots of options. Stuff like the Tibetan village and ship graveyard are some of the most exciting combat sandboxes in any shooter this gen and I played many.

Still, The Last of Us is a very different beast and should be judged as such, it's certainly not an Uncharted reskin.

Lets get back to topic after being derailed.

I got it ordered. With these reviews it's going to be a hard long wait until next Friday.

The multiplayer looks interesting.

I think I've played the demo 30 times. E3 and then The Last of Us is seriously going to be the best week ever.

Does anyone have any hypothesis as to why this game comes out after E3? Im thinking maybe we'll get a surprise about the game we've already bought haha.

You are in the minority. But we will try to treat you with compassion and dignity anyway.
I'm actually curious about the preferences of those who enjoyed Uncharted 2 but didn't consider it as amazing as a lot seemed to. Personally I'm in that camp, people were gushing about how amazing Uncharted 2 was, but it was just a fun game that had some pretty impressive set pieces whereas it was Demon's Souls I had those feelings of being blown away and one of the best games I ever played. I wonder if it's a sort of divide between preferring an "experience" or a "gamey game."

I haven't paid too much attention to AI unless it's a game about sneaking around or it's being really REALLY dumb, but the way you put it there that makes it sound like it'd end up harder potentially.

Yeah, I've generally felt the same way about the series, I'd probably REALLY love them if they buffed up platforming and downplayed the "shoot shoot bang bang" as I can actually really get into them when I'm just hoping around and clambering around the environment. Or maybe at least if the enemies went down REAL easy even if they were still very threatening, just having waves and waves of resilient foes is boring.

As far as I'm concerned I know little to nothing about this game, have only watched the second half of the demo, haven't read the reviews, and am walking in with a clean slate.

Oh one little thing, I was spoiled. No worries though as I didnt get spoiled for everything.
