You want to make a bet? I am not so short-sighted that I will let a video game gloss over their draconian policies, parred back hardware and the absolutely dreadful handling of this console in general. Don't just assume for everyone else merely because none of this bothers you.

I'm sure with a favorable price point and enough great games most gamers will forgive just about anything.

I don't like the direction the XBONE has taken, but with a similar lineup to the 360 I might buy one for exclusives at 200 or less. They're in a bad position but it's totally possible to recover.

Nintendo is in much worse shape with core gamers, even after all this disastrous PR

MS don't have much in the way of exclusives really and third party games are all but guaranteed to be better elsewhere. IMO, obviously, but MS have really let that part of their portfolio stagnate, whereas Sony and Nintendo both have pretty formidable exclusives.

Obviously I'm looking at Kinect 2.0 here as well. Perhaps Illuminaroom as well. I just find it disheartning that most of Neo Gaf is falling hook line and sinker for the bullshit render power that both ATI & Nvidia have been flogging us for years...and to be fair here, so have most developers, more intrested in how much anti aliasing they can put on the screen to the detriment of more developed AI and gameplay features Killzone looked AMAZING at the PS4 reveal, but soon as you touch down...well it's the identical game you got 4 years ago. Run....strafe, duck...hide behind cover, shoot the minimal amount of badguys (more polys then the atoms in your body....so we can only render three or four of them at a time). Yawn. I also find it strange how many people have let Sony off scot free for their Socal Media obsession whereas Microsoft are being lambasted for their TV/Multibox orientation. I can't imagine anymore more annoying them my Facebook / Twitter feed being hammered by MR X HAS COMPLETED LEVEL 23 OF CALL OF KILLZONE everytime they press that far too within reach SHARE button.
But essentially the Xbox is going down the exact same path of run, shoot and strafe but with a focus on presumably forced kinect integration and with less power. I mean Kinect 2.0 looks like its still going to be a tacked on experience with most core games, they even money hatted it into COD Ghosts if I remember correctly. How will it improve that experience? Am I going to be able to virtually pat the dog? I have some hope for kinect but I know it's not going to be anything truly groundbreaking.

In regards to Sony's social route... well I hate Facebook more then anyone but it is a great social application, it gives you a window into your friends lives and creates a greater sense of being a part of it. So if thats applied to the gaming experience i think its great. Anything that gives you a greater sense of community and interactivity within that community is welcome in my books.

Plus i believe Sony have stated people can remain anonymous and the posting to Facebook crap is switched of by default on the ps3. So lets hope it stays that way. So if its not your cup of tea you not forced to use it, which is the issue most people have with the features of the Xbox. Being forced to use them.

Not to derail the thread, but I just wanted to point out that Crazy Buttocks posting in cryptic broken words so he/she/it won't be quoted/outed is some pretty wacky cloak and dagger stuff.

I love GAF.

You're nuts. I would have considered it until all the DRM crap came out, I don't particularly care about how powerful or "weak" it is in comparison to anything and I can do without it frankly.

If that comforts you and makes you feel secure in your own purchase then please, continue with your delusion.

Oh and yea, I may buy it some day but not everyone who dislikes it will.

Not the first time I've seen someone claim that all the complainers will still buy one in the end. Seems to be the fallback talking point.
When your defense is "customers won't know any better", "deal with it", "customers are stupid", or "they'll have no choice but to buy it because they're addicts", you're actually defending some grade-A shameful bullshit.

No not really. Unless MS decides to buy pretty much everything exclusive I'll hardly have enough time to play my PC and PS4.

Not a Jellyfish

but I am a sheep
If Destiny feels like Halo from a gameplay perspective at all it will be enough for me to make the switch to PS4, only exclusive I really buy and play on my 360.

Hoping to see some big games at both conferences, games and price are really what drive my decision.

I have a gaming PC that is essentially next-gen specs.

I will be buying a PS4.

Now, IF there is a super awesome game that doesn't come out for the PC or the PS4, then you are right.

But, it can't be either Halo, Forza, or Gears of War.

Anything else, I am completely open to. Banjo would tip me over for instance.

Won't make sense to me.

1. I live in Malaysia

2. Microsoft doesn't support Xbox Live here.

3. All of my friends use the PC or Playstation consoles.

No way in hell. Think about posters who spent the last gen being vocal about their hatred of MS. Those people are LOVING the negative attention, as it gives them an actual reason to troll and they also get to feel like "part of the crew" because most people are hating MS right now (deservedly). Those people were never going to buy an X1 and never will. Then there's people like me who had an OG Xbox (and a GC and PS2) a 360 (and a Wii and PS3) and bought a WiiU and a gaming PC and was looking forward to getting a PS4 and X1 day one. Guess what? The PS4 is a dead lock for day one. Holy shit, I've never seen a company approach a generation as gracefully as Sony with the PS4. I wanted an X1 but MS is being fucking stupid so who knows when that'll happen (if ever). Blame MS.

It? Crazy Buttocks is really an Xbox One that's grown sentience and is trying to warn us of the impending robot invasion.

Considering the hurdles I have to go through to recover my XBox Live account, I would live longer if I never bought a Microsoft console ever again.

I'm right there with you on that.

True story: they actually lost my first XBL account. I could log into it locally, but I couldn't access Xbox Live, and when I called support they informed me that there was no email address associated with my account (there absolutely was), which meant that they were completely incapable of doing anything with the account, and it would never be able to go online again. I had to create a whole new account just to use the pre-paid XBL Gold card I had bought prior to running into this problem.

Edit: If only that was the last time I had to deal with useless Xbox support. If only.

The irony is that it's actually right in line with Microsoft's arrogant attitude right now with statements like, "The people who only care about games will pick us anyway." They are assuming that just because it's Xbox, nothing else matters.

Yeah, I suppose in four or five years when I can pick up a bunch of great exclusives used for $5 each I'll crack and--

Oh. Right.

Let's assume that the Xbone is indeed down clocking the GPU and the assumed specs are correct. How would it compare to my AMD 965 BE. GTX 460 and 4GB or ram PC? I play most games at 1080p high or ultra settings because I like to sit on my couch although Bioshock Infinite I ran everything 720p with all eye candy turned all the way up. All my PC games look great but would the Xbone be worse, same or better?

*Edit*
My 965 is overclocked to 3.9 GHz and my 460 is overclocked about 15%.

I won't if it requires me to be connected every 24 hours. I'd rather not buy a system if it will be come a paperweight in a 5 to 10 years if they take the servers offline.

Why do people assume the games are going to become unplayable in 5-10 years? Maybe with their 300,000 servers theyll keep the games up forever, or maybe there will be an update patch or whatever that lets you play the game offline before they take the servers down.

This has to be the case. I have no evidence of course.

But all those games require the power of the cloud - without this power they will not work.

Isn't that every bit as much an assumption as assuming they will be unplayable?

The point is uncertainty. If I don't know if I'm buying a game, or leasing it, why would I invest any money?

Because the things you listed cost money.

IDK can I still play metal gear online? Shit tons of EA sports games? You act like this shit has never happened and we have tons of examples from this gen of games shutting down.

The problem with console online is the servers are totally closed box. In PC land you can set up your own server most of the time and still play old ass games.

This thread doesn't make sense to me...anyone with this sort of info would either have to have one of these sort of jobs:
http://www.microsoft-careers.com/go...rmation-and-Services-and-Finance-Jobs/194583/
...where you usually aren't typing in broken English on NeoGAF during your lunch break (trust me I have met people who work in this division and they are normal adults)

...or, you work at one of the suppliers, and are Chinese or managing team of Chinese :p

Apparently this Crazy buttocks person is reliable enough for mods to not lock this thread, but this literally sounds like something that 99.9% of people who work on the core of the Xbox One team would know nothing about.

Then don't post. CBOT and most of legitimate gaf sources confirmed this. They have proven track record.

The shit happens today with little to no outrage/uproar so do the math...

im just assuming as well of course, i mean if peoples copies of Halo 5 single player stop working there will be rioting in the streets.

I would guess as time goes on the community size for any given game would drop so they wouldn't need as many servers. Hell I'm still playing PSO online and I haven't paid one cent towards maintenance of the Schthack server. If I'm paying for LIVE they better damn well keep it up.

I don't like this DRM crap, but that point is moot to me as I'm not a collector and don't keep my old consoles.

I'll sell/trade in my 360 and PS3 before getting a next gen console. I just don't care about replaying old games. 99% of games once I see the credits roll I have no desire to ever load it up again.

I hate the DRM stuff as it will limit my options for selling/trading games once I beat them.

.

If you read those correctly I was essentially calling it just "One." I've migrated to XBO recently. Either is better than Xbone, because Xbone is used just because it says "bone" in it.

I've migrated to calling it the Xbox None. Cause that's how many are going to be in my house.

I came into this year quite sure that I was going to be buying both consoles at launch, like I did last gen. Right now, nothing short of a miraculous E3 and a considerably lower price point than expected will see me buying an Xbone any time soon.

Barring that, I'll get one maybe in a year or two after the price drops and their library of exclusives starts to round out. But based on what I know right now, the PS4 will be my day one purchase, and will be the main platform for me this generation. Ditto for the twenty or so regulars I play with- every last one of which was/is a dedicated 360 owner/player this gen.

Pretty much mirrors my own thoughts about the Xbone. I Assumed I would be getting the successor to the 360 at some point, maybe not launch but sometime down the line. Right now I have absolutely no interest in the console and it seems like with everyday that goes by, my incentive to purchase it gets lower and lower. I loved the OG Xbox, I enjoyed my 360 greatly till I got a gaming PC.

I had no real beef with MS prior to the reveal and the shitstorm that followed. It's absolutely unbelievable how my stance on Microsoft has taken a complete 180 over the period of a mere few days. A true failure of PR.

This last gen was the first time I did not have multiple consoles since the NES/Master System generation. This one might be the second.

It's not that they've scrapped them, it's that Sony are ahead of Microsoft in this area, plus MS' X1 has a more difficult architecture to program for than the PS4, as it's been mentioned before the roles seem to have been reversed from PS3 and Xbox 360.

It looks like most 3rd party multiplats are going to be more superior on PS4 this time around, & not Xbox One. Another reason for me to not buy Xbox One.

I notice there are now pages of people scoffing at the idea of people eventually getting a system because it ends up with a good number of games they would enjoy for it.

Yeah I've owned all consoles the last 3 gens, and this will be the first generation I won't. The PS4 is more powerful and I prefer Sony's first party games and diverse library over anything Xbox. But even if Xbox did get a couple exclusives I might have interest in, I refuse to pay money to remove paywalls and peer to peer multiplayer. As for Nintendo, still haven't picked up a Wii U, but a price drop and / or a new revision and a couple good exclusives and I'll be in.
