if someone could post an article about this somewhere (*Hint Hint JSchreier) bringing this completely unfair and dirty practice to light it would be good so that more people are aware.

How did you feel when the BioWare employeed posted the 10/10 review of Dragon Age 2?

I missed that one—but I imagine I would have laughed hysterically, because anyone with half a brain could tell that Dragon Age 2 was a giant piece of shit.

as long as they're not lying about the product, I don't have a problem with it. as far as I can tell, it's subjective. there are people out there who really do love the Xbone, who really do love Dragon Age 2—and they're not getting paid for it. I worry for their sanity. I don't worry about people posting dumb shit on the internet.

When people have anonymity—this is what happens. This is what has always happened. This is what would happen even without Microsoft paying anyone a goddamn cent.

Bish, are we going to get that thread you were talking about a few days ago...? ;)

It could be a good test of the servers before E3 heh.

Pretty sure all corporations do this. Except Nintendo. Not that they wouldn't, but they just installed dial-up at NOA, so you've gotta give them time.

I love people in here posting.

"well every company does it"

holy shit right after my post.

If you think this is new or unique to microsoft you are deluding yourselves.
I know it's hip to shit on MS right now, and the XB1 is shaping up pretty terribly, but this is nothing to get mad about.

Yes it is.. posing as forum members and posting positive spin is fucking trash.

They don't even need to post on Reddit to have an influence.

They simply need to vote comments up or down as needed.

You have an army of silent users burying useful comments and propping up "This isn't as bad as it seems" and you can shape the mind of the people.

Reddit's REAL sources aren't in the stories, but the top rated comments.

But, yes, other companies do this, or just pay off reviewers. (Not always in cash, but lots of free goodies)
The reason this is different is because it's so fucking obvious when the Xbone is terrible.

Regardless of how many MS employees are trying to turn this around online by acting as "happy customers", it's a lost cause and I don't think anything other than backpedaling on these policies by MS will change the overwhelming consensus on many internet communities regarding Xbox One.

Always thankful for GAF's moderation team in times like these, the number of corporate shills on this board is probably far less than on other sites like Reddit due to the registration roadblocks, not to mention that they will have act very carefully on GAF in order to hide from suspicion.

LOL at least it has been reported here on GAF as many journalists look at GAF, hopefully this goes to more gaming news sites.

Crash and burn MS, Crash and Burn :)

Wow, MS is really taking a (well-deserved) beating. Has any company in recent memory earned such white-hot scorn and not been badly damaged?

That's much more difficult due to reddit's spam detection system.

It actually is, yes of course they are going to try it. I'm Director of Marketing at a large company so I know all about it, that doesn't mean that the mods shouldn't investigate and eradicate so that we can have honest conversations instead of those tainted by marketers.

First off, no one thinks this is new and exciting territory.

Second, fuck planted shills.

Bish posted that as a warning for them, but desperate times are forcing them out in various threads, so he can make easy kills. Hunter-killer style.

What? Yes, it is. In all cases, (whether it's in business or politics) it is.

Kinda feel bad for these PR account guys: Microsoft paid them to defend something that's pretty hard to defend. Must be tough.

That's much more difficult due to reddit's spam detection system.

Difficult, but not impossible and not unstoppable. It just means they need to hire more people to make it appear more organic. More proxies, remote hires, etc. Every few months a few sites get called out for organizing such things. It's also why a lot of comments hide the scores on posts now, as a test to see.

How much you want to bet they aren't just merely confined to Reddit.

I'm willing to bet there are quite a few lurking on here, as well, with more converging as E3 approaches.

seriously—can someone explain to me why this is wrong? because it might actually be effective?

Obviously, pretty much every major company does crap like this. They all get caught and banned eventually.

Even when it's not reptuation management, companies are trying to game Reddit for their benefit. Like a year or two ago it was found that IGN, G4, GamePro were paying people to upvote all their posts. The Atlantic and Businessweek too among others.

Nifty AND saffron-colored!
What if... That entire post was made up by a similar person working for Sony??? Dun dun dun!
