This game needs 50 playable characters.
If I'm a Namco employee working on this game, I feel like I would not be all that interested in putting Pac-Man in the game. I'm guessing they would have much more fun with Lloyd, Naruto, Klonoa, KOS-MOS, Nightmare, Kalas, etc. Naruto would obviously be the big seller there but I don't know how easy it would be to get the rights to that.

No chance at all of naruto. No way nintendo has interest in representing anything not game-centric in smash bros. It's not like he's an iconic representative of namco or something. Even if they did, rights would be a clusterfuck.

Nothing against the character or the franchise, but manga-originating characters have no place in a Nintendo-centric fighting/party game.

Yeah, the problem with Pac-Man is that pretty much every single other popular character Namco has rights to seems like a more appealing proposition.

I swear, I never wanna hear any manga/anime character get nominated to be in the game again. Not only does it not make any sense (they are not even game characters... what the heck?), but all the popular ones already have their own fighting games which feature tons of characters from their own respective franchises. Why waste the effort to include them over characters that would actually fit in a game like this?

Pac-man needs to be put in based on video game history alone, this isn't even counting the fact that he already appeared in at least two crossovers with Mario.
This is what bugs me whenever I see wishlists. It's just so odd seeing anime/manga characters wanted in.
I don't mind 3rd party characters, but characters not originating from games just doesn't fit.
Pac-Man could tuck his arms and legs and WAKKA WAKKA WAKKA horizontally and vertically, he could gobble up enemies, he could belch up ghosts, he could spitfire pellets, he could impose a neon maze on the screen and chase everyone through it for his Final Smash. He could be an AWESOME character.
And imagine: Pac-Man vs. DK, two arcade legends fight at last! Not to mention he's been in two arcade Mario Karts, and his Pac-Man Vs. game is like one of Shiggy's favorite creations ever.
