Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Titanfall is a Source Engine game, right? There is no chance of it coming to Origin and not to Steam. Is there any other Source game, where that's the case?

The use of Source does not require Steam. We don't have many examples because the engine isn't very popular, but there are some: like Korean MMOs and the Kuma Games.

Dark Souls™: Prepare to Die Edition - $10.19 at GamersGate

Box art shows GFWL, but in the details it says

DRM:Steamworks (Requires a third-party download and account)
Activation:Must be activated on Steam

To help clear up any confusion: the game uses GFWL, but all its keys activate on Steam. Key activation is the only part of Steamworks the game uses.

Is there a website where I can trade tf2 metal and items for cards? I have some refined and other stuff and I don't play tf2 anymore, may as well level up!

Yes but:

System Requirements

Requires a Games for Windows Live and Steam Account to play.

I have a Steam account and love it but I do not have a GFWL account. I hear so much complaining about it though. What's the issue with it?

£6.79 is sorely tempting!

You know how a kick in the nuts feels? (I don't, but that's beside the point.) It's exactly like that, but worse. So not really exactly. But worse indeed.

Now I'm having a hard time determining if GFWL is better or worse than Serious Sam.

This is a really, really cool youtube showing a turn of playing dragon commander:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAF-AAudfp8

It's long, but it is clear that there is a whole lot more going on than just a basic RTS game with a commander dragon unit you can control, something that may not be very clear from the screenshots of the game. Looks very neat.

Seems kind of like a fantasy themed xcom.

I'll keep my eye on this one. Thanks.

Can someone explain me how the badge / card system works ?

I got the counter-strike first level badge by buying remaining card that I didn't received from drops.

Now to get level 2, I need to wait to receive a booster pack ? How long is it before receiving one?

I see people with level 5 badge. Did they buy all the cards ? What is the point of spending 10$+ on this ?

Hm, I see.

Some people would pay good money to be kicked in the nuts you know?

I am not one of them :/.

Incidentally, my partner tells me that post war [WWII] when everyone was convinced that it was only a matter of time before the next war and they all had to be trained to fight, they were told to kick prone combatants in the nuts in the field of war to see if they were dead or not. The thinking being that with bullets flying around it was the quickest way to tell if they were dead or alive and thus worth getting shot at to save. Fair enough. My neighbour is training to be a nurse and is having her exam today on what to do if she encounters a prone body like that. I was tempted to give her this tip but I don't think the examiner would consider that correct protocol. Shame.

Seriously though, what exactly is the issue with GFWL, apart from the kicking in the nuts business.

EDIT - oh and it's as unpleasant an experience as you might imagine, by the way.

GFWL is bad (and I'll give some reasons in a minute) but it isn't worth skipping Dark Souls over. There's good reason why we're cheering its death.

1) It's a dead service. It hasn't received an update in years.
2) It's matchmaking is pretty much mostly broken.
3) Issues abound with saves, regardless of game. (Make sure to enable the back-up feature in the Durante mod).
4) As Stump can attest, it may be incompatible with your home networking setup (this is a rare issue, but one that's been diagnosed, repeated, and ignored for years).

These issues shouldn't stop you from grabbing Dark Souls (realistically, the only issue you may encounter is with the matchmaking, but it should still work eventually).

I do know how that feels, with a tennis ball atleast.
Games For Windows Live is better. It's more like a mosquito. The thing is, mosquito's are extremely annoying, and can even be quite dangerous.
Once upon the time Norton was so bad it literally killed PCs. Now it's one, if not the best av software available and I recommend it to everyone who asks but old people like me still remember the dark times.
I'm not old enough for those experiences, thank goodness. :p
Can't really blaim people for ignoring Norton after stuff like that. I'd probably feel the same.

It's also weird with passwords. My Live password worked just fine on 360 and junk hotmail account, but GFWL refused to let me login to its services until I changed it to something dumber.

Thank you morningbus. It does indeed sound like being kicked in the nuts! :/ Let's hope the rumours that it is being retired are true.

However, from what you've said there shouldn't be any reason for me not to pick up Dark Souls, especially at that price, so thanks for the encouragement.

No problem! Make sure you use Durante's mod with the game. It's a must. (Also ignore the warning about the 60fps unlocker potentially leading to a GFWL ban - it's never happened and would require non-existent people to be at a surely-empty office actively looking for people who've unlocked the framerate)

omg mse tested bad that one time you should have switched i mean how computer illiterate are you

I use MSE and do all my sketchy internet shit in Linux on a separate partition. It's like a modern day version of Avatar.

Will do, thanks :).

It actually has cloud save built into the registry app, but they never got it implemented correctly.

Dark Souls is worth experiencing, even with GFWL.

The next game is looking to be pure Steamworks, no GFWL in sight.

Weird. I'm kind of glad they didn't implement it, though. If GFWL's saves mess up, Steam Cloud can exacerbate the problem by syncing an empty file with the cloud (like it did for me for Arkham City).

Message received and understood cap'n.

Also it's being developed with the pc as the lead platform I understand so it's a win win!

Don't see why people are still worried about gfwl, no one will use it anymore,it's dead.

We still worry about it because good games are still trapped in a prison fashioned out of shit.

If anything, we are now even more worried because that shit-brick and turd-mortar prison is collapsing and its inmates are still inside.

I just tried to imagine that for real. Made me laugh, so thanks for that.

If you like that, may I suggest some of my other work, such as:

My high school band's song Fighting For Our Lives, which features this in the lyrics:

Imagine a man in a forest
Now Imagine him on fire
If you laughed at that, my friend you are heartless.

I can't wait for the sale. I finally need to get Bioshock.

Good time to get the whole series with System Shock 2 now available and BioShock 2 getting cleaned up.

That was my theory as well. I'm sure they ran into issues with GFWL.

May I ask what you mean by that Mr .exe?

Grief has been watching the Bioshock 2 entry of the Steam registry and has noticed it is being updated. It also recently got Steam achievements which are not yet active.

Everything else is an assumption that GFWL is being removed and Steam is being subbed in. It's a good assumption, but there hasn't been anything officially announced yet.

Now I'm having a hard time determining if GFWL is better or worse than Serious Sam.

What if Serious Sam had GFWL??

and what if they just added Steam achievements to Bioshock 2...?
Batman Arkham City is a good example, you get both GFWL and Steam achievements.
