I just finished Dead Island

I liked the game, but I feel like I had enough DI for a couple of years.
There's no way I'm ever playing Riptide, but I'm looking forward to Dying Light

and what if they just added Steam achievements to Bioshock 2...?
Batman Arkham City is a good example, you get both GFWL and Steam achievements.

No GFWL needs to go for a variety of reasons that have already been covered the past few pages.

Both games also add in Securom as that extra little bit of a 'screw you' from the publishers. I sincerely hope that gets removed as well.

I really wish 4x games didn't fly over my head. Anyone know of a good youtube channel to school people that are not hip to the 4x jive?

I can handle SRPG and games like XCOM but when it gets to be so large in scope it starts to hurt my brain a bit more than my liking.

This is the video I watched to ease my way into Civ V. Made some concepts easier to understand, especially some of the things that went over my head when Civ IV came out almost a decade ago now.

I just mean, the GMG pre-order mentions that it needs Origin. So unless they have a non-Origin, non-Steam online system in place, I strongly assume it'll be Origin-only.

The reason the GMG site says Origin on it is to let people know that their particular keys activate on Origin. If Titanfall does show up on Steam, than it will likely be a completely separate version of the game. See: Witcher 2, Kingdoms of Amalur, etc.

The online servers are going to be provided by Microsoft Azure, which should not require Origin.

Also, what with GFWL seemingly dying, do you think I should buy some Microsoft points and buy the DLC for Bioshock 2 and Bulletstorm? Or do you think those will be made available on Steam?

I would wait. The Bioshock 2 achievements reference Minerva's Den in them. Most likely the DLC will be made available on Steam for purchase.

Bulletstorm is published by EA Partners so it would be up to EA or Epic to release the DLC on Steam. I wouldn't hold my breath for either.

By POS, he meant Phoenix Online Studios!
Oh, my bad. This reminds me of the NES game called S.C.A.T. Truly a name that speaks well of the product.

GTA IV was even worse: RGSC in top of SecuROM on a game that required GFWL to make a delicious and tasty shit sandwich.

It seriously needs to go, i've had countless of problems. Not to mention that GFWL wasn't available in my country (Argentina) until the last year, so i always used a fake location. However, since it became available it won't let me change my location.
I contacted support a few times, but they couldn't solve the problem either. :/

I'm glad that thing is in its last legs, when i moved to W8, i lost all my saves for the third time and i had to download a different version because the one i installed with one of the games that uses GFWL wasn't compatible with W8.

Once upon the time Norton was so bad it literally killed PCs. Now it's one, if not the best av software available and I recommend it to everyone who asks but old people like me still remember the dark times.

No not really. You should be using MSE or ESET anyways.

I've never had that many problems with GFWL. Based on my experience, I'd rather have SecuROM gone from those games instead of GFWL, if I had to choose.

I especially want SecuROM gone from Batman Arkham City. God, the SecuROM implementation in that game is horrible.

Also, thanks for that link. I guess I'll just wait for Minerva's Den to appear on Steam.

Heh, I totally would like to see both SecuROM and GFWL gone, but if I had to choose, SecuROM would be the first in line to get buried.

No thanks. MSE isn't even the best free av-software, it's better than nothing but that's it. And while ESET has recovered quite a bit they still live from the image they got during their glory days during the 2000s. There's no reason to use those two, others are better.

Well, it is an adventure. You also have to point both the gun and the flashlight in the game, and it does makes a click when you pull the trigger.

ergo, Point & Click Adventure.

Well, when you put it like that... Wait, does this mean that 90% of the games this generation were point and click adventures?

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
I consider most games just updated versions of tetris as you're just trying to find a place to stick things and win.

I also consider tetris just an updated version of sex.

Damn. Not interested in a single one of those games. The software seems cool though.

Black Ops 2: a point and click action game

just doesent fit well...

Alan Wake is a great game and that recent Humble bundle was worth it for both games for 5 bucks.

Call of Duty is the most popular point and click adventure game series in the world, but all the puzzles boil down to "use gun on enemy" and "use racism with microphone."

Man I want less space 4x :/

It's Civ is the only non space 4x game
Since you obviously don't know about it, Master of Magic is currently 50% off ($2.99) during the GOG Summer Promo. It is one of the greatest games ever for the PC, and certainly anyone interested in 4x in a fantasy setting should check it out.

Check the 4x list.
There is Civilization, Colonization, Master of Magic maybe one or two more and the rest of the 92 games are set in space.

Going from your own list I see (excluding DLC):
East India Company
Sid Meier's Civilization II
Sid Meier's Civilization III
Sid Meier's Civilization IV
Invasion
Call to Power II
Freeciv
Lords of Magic
Emperor of the Fading Suns
Sid Meier's Colonization
Master of Magic

Quite frankly, I think Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri fits that bill too. It involves an alien world, but one that you are stuck on rather than space exploration.

Either way there is a veritable plethora of space 4x games. A plethora. Plethora.
Space lends itself to the 4x genre. We need more, not less.

Man, I wish the rest of the game played like the beginning...

All apart from the horrendous lip synching. I swear Alan and Alice had jaws hinged like marionettes. Thought that whole first Episode, up to Stuckies Gas Station was super tight.

Space lends itself to the 4x genre. We need more, not less.

GalCiv and Alpha Centauri are all I need. Until either of those 2 are topped of course. That or a re-imagining of Elite.

Thanks for that. I bought Civ V on Steam after the free weekend and have fumbled around in it ever since as I've never played a game like that before. You've given me the prod to get back to it so thanks.

I just realized we are already a quarter of the way through this thread. Its only 10 days old.

At this rate, we will be done by the end of July. Of course, the summer sale will temporarily stave off this thread's death.

Should I feel guilty for bulk downvoting every MMO / F2P game on Greenlight? Because that's what I've been doing since the beginning.

If it's Civ that you crave go check out the CivFanatics forums.

Really friendly bunch and have years of great advice and some fantastic starting tutorials and custom scenarios. They do some regular competitions where you can get a handle on how what tech routes to go down, where to settle and how to manage resources and great ways to utilise automation.

Nah. It's not like you're abusing the system but just using the tools as you see fit. If you were doing it with multiple accounts though, fingers might wag.
