Quick question, does anyone know if the Saturn original version of Virtua Fighter had a long box release? Or was it just the normal sleeve/jewel?

Pretty sure it was just the normal sized "Not for Resale" jewel case and/or cardboard sleeve.

Virtua Fighter Remix got a longbox release, I believe, but it's tricky to track down, last I checked.

Are we talking about the Japanese release? My PAL Virtua Fighter is long box (cardboard).

Just got Cotton Boomerang for $56.
Yummy. Would say where but the storefront has some other things I want.

Does the seller still have more copies at the same price? I have Cotton 2, but I wait to upgrade for a while. If you can, PM me the details, I will not buy anything else (I am broken anyway).

Finally found a NTSC copy of Enemy Zero. Cost me $50 though, but that's a bit cheaper then the other prices I saw. Should be here in a day or so.

I really wanted to play Panzer Dragoon Saga again (I still have my original copy.).

How is Saturn emulation of this game? Would I be able to play it directly from the disc?

I stumbled upon a Model 2 Saturn controller in a thrift store today. Cost me a whopping $2.02.

That's the first time I've seen Saturn-related ANYTHING in there since I started regularly checking these places years ago. Kinda wish it was a six-button Genesis pad, though...

Decent. I'd recommend making a backup of the disc using ImgBurn or DiscJuggler or something, though, then using a disc drive emulator like DAEMON Tools to host the disc image, and have SSF read from there instead. I dunno, I'm just kinda paranoid about playing directly off of the discs themselves.

Damn nice deal! I'll give you $4.04 for it plus shipping. Easy 100% profit for you.

Kinda want to go after the EU version of Shinobi Legions, especially since it has a Richard Jacques soundtrack.

Also anyone know of a good translation guide for Deep Fear? I got it long ago, but only played it long enough to find out the voices are in english...and then died due to oxygen supply lol.

I saw this down the street for $39.99. I was tempted to buy it, but it was too high and price and I was not very knowledgeable about the game.

Certainly better then most eBay prices. No idea if it's worth it or not (though some have said positive things), but I'll find out eventually.

A poster in the CRT thread is asking how to identify the difference between Euro SCART and JP 21 RGB so they don't fry their scaler. Anyone know?

I never had a Saturn growing up but I've been interested for a few years. Today I finally picked up a used Saturn along with a new Virtua Stick. I also ordered an Action Replay Plus! My whole collection is probably going to end up being imported because some of the prices for American copies are absolutely ridiculous. Here's what I have so far:

- Street Fighter Zero
- Street Fighter Zero 2
- Fighters Megamix
- Virtua Fighter
- Virtua Fighter 2
- Vampire Hunter

I'm hoping to pick up Burning Rangers, Fighting Vipers, all the 2D Capcom fighters, and the Panzer Dragoon games in the next few weeks. Super excited to play an arcade quality port of X-Men vs. Street Fighter.

Bear in mind, Burning Rangers kinda requires you to understand what your navigator is telling you in order to find your way through any given stage. If you understand Japanese, you should be okay with an import, but otherwise, your only recourse is a localized copy, and those are kind of expensive. (Glad I nabbed mine when I did, when it was only $50...)

Burning Rangers seems more rare then PDS. Only seen a handful of them come up on ebay over the past few months while a few PDS every week or so.

Did not know that. I'll probably hold off for a while then. Thanks for the heads up!

Weirdly, I have the PAL version of Burning Rangers, given to me by an European friend. I barely ever played it though... :(

To my knowledge the PAL version of Burning Rangers is cheaper than the US release, however you will need a PAL Saturn and TV to play it, since the game has issues with the 60/50 Hz thing.

Does he have the cables in hand? If so then simple enough just to open them and see the pinout since they are very different. GamesSX has the actual pinouts.

Only way I would know is to open the connections on each side and find a pin out to trace to see what pin on scart is running 5v. Or just ask the seller if they know.

It worked fine with the 4in1 action replay cart, IIRC. Some PAL games did look deformed on my TV (that was an old CRT back in the day) but I recall Burning Rangers looking fine. I wouldn't know on my HDTV though, never tried it since...

Beyond Oasis is one of the rarer games of the Sega library, but it's fucking phenomenal. I loveeeeedddd it as a kid. Great lore, great music, beautiful artwork.

I have always wanted to play Legend of Oasis, the prequel for Saturn. I'm gunna try my best to find a way to emulate it...I just need it.

As a newcomer to the series, Beyond seems like the better game. I havent played it, but having just played a decent chunk of Legend... its a really nice looking game, but doesnt seem all that. Its not bad, but it just doesnt seem to draw me in.

Also i'm not sure why the soundtrack isnt the usual Yuzo aural awesomeness.

I never beat Legend of Oasis... it got so hard and I got stuck and kind of gave up at some point. :( Beyond Oasis was fairly easy in comparison. I love both games and I would kill for an HD sequel or something.

Played through Beyond earlier this year and quite enjoyed it. I picked up the sequel on the cheap, but I haven't got around to playing it yet.

If he doesn't want to open them up, he can alternatively use a multimeter and check the pins that way. I did that with a pile of cables before.

I'm going to finally tackle Astal to help knock down my backlog.

You know, of all the Sega systems I own, the Saturn is the one that I own the most games for. My SG-1000 II system (Sega's 1st home console) is the only console from them I don't own games for yet also.

Is anyone else experiencing flickering black lines while using the latest version of SSF? I tried googling but haven't found any way to fix it.

Just make bin\cue images of the discs and mount them. It runs pretty well I think.
