Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney most likely coming to Europe

Would be great for all the fans.

Too bad the game isn't that good. Only about 50% in, but so far it seems like both the phoenix and layton parts are the worst in their respective series. Also the game is so very bloody wordy....

That's good. Despite being in Europe, I'd hate to see America get fucked over by the region lock on this...

At any rate, I'm pretty happy about all of this. It brings the localisation gap in my Ace Attorney collection down to just AAI2 again.

I suspect the game was set to release this year until they caught wind that both AA5 and Layton...I want to say 6? were also coming soon.

It made more sense to release the game after those titles came out to avoid confusion and ride their coattails a bit.

Level 5 DON'T PULL THAT PROFESSOR LAYTON SHIT on us Beneluxies again if you decide to go digital only with this.

You know, that sick joke where you could only choose Dutch and French text/audio if you buy digital AND retail.

Better bring us a retail copy with an ENGLISH option to the mainland. I don't want to play "Ik heb 12 lucifers"

If you pull that bullshit on retail too like you did with the other recent Layton titles, I'll have to import from UK again, as will probably a lot of other Benelux enthusiasts.

Whoa. Guess I dodged a bullet. Saw a cheap layton game in a store a while ago and passed on it... Would have been very pissed at Dutch/French only.

You did indeed. Just import it from the UK.

Then again I have this feeling that they're going to pull an AA5 on us.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Surely a game like this wouldn't skip the US? It seems crazy that in 2013 this is still a possibility.

If Layton vs Ace Attorney is not being published by Nintendo, they won't dub the game in any other language than English in the first place.

Nah, Layton is pretty popular in Europe.

I suspect a retail release because of the top hat professor. The pic posted by Alberto is basicly a confirmation.

I was seriously considering taking Japanese to play this because I was starting to think it was never going to come out.

Then I saw "French release" and I was like, "weird, but better than nothing. I can get by in French."

Then I remembered it wouldn't matter anyway because of that God-forsaken region-locking.

NoA pls

Level-5 pls

Playing through it right now and I have to say it definitely deserves a global release. Here’s hoping for you American folks that Level 5 USA turns around as well.

If you're from Benelux surely you speak Dutch or French?

A lot of people prefer the English text/voice overs here in Holland. I know I do.

Hearing Layton say "Dat doet me denken aan een puzzel!" instead of "That reminds me of a puzzle" in a Dutch voice is just weird. Dutch translations just doesn't work for a lot of enthousiasts. They're pretty terrible. The last decent Dutch voice overs (because the Dutch retail stores only offered the NL/FR versions) were presented by Beyond Good & Evil(!). When I eventually buy the Mask of Miracles, I'll get my copy in the UK. (Layton titles are pretty epensive as well in Holland)

Did the same for the Unwound Future. I even got the US version of the Last Specter.

I really hope this is the case and a localisation is secured. I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but Prof Layton is huge here in the U.K. The first game was sold out pretty much everywhere I looked in December 2008 (my hometown of Winchester, Southampton, Basingstoke, and where my Grandma lives in West London). The only non-launch 7th-gen games I remember being sold out like that were Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit.

Added the Facebook post to the OP. Hopefully we'll get a full announcement soon, but if they're really serious about the "one Layton a year" thing I could see them waiting as late as next E3.

If it comes to Europe and not America I'll probably end up owning three 3DS systems from 3 different regions.

Not to mention the quality of the Dutch dub, it's pretty bad. I especially couldn't stand Layton's voice after having played the Curious Village. He sounded dead inside.

I don't think the first game ever got translated here, did it?

That's pretty close to a full confirmation. I had kind of started to wonder if this game was just going to be passed over entirely.

Only three left.
If PLxPW is confirmed

I really want to believe this list more and more each time something else gets confirmed. Mostly because I want to play Time Travelers more than almost anything.

I'd love to see Time Travelers get over here, but man I'm having a hard time believing it will. I played it and it was basically a 12-hour cutscene with some character switching, decision making, and the occasional QTE.

That sounds like a game that wouldn't sell over here unless Quantic Dream developed it xD

Sounds like my dream game.

I would kill Ace X Layton for Time Travelers.
