I don't think you're terrible at all. If you want to feel more confident do some of the challenges and stick to trying to get to challenge 20 with a single character. Teddie is one of the harder characters imo his timing on combos is pretty unforgiving. If you do start doing more training just remember it won't 100% transfer to online as they'll be moving more. I've put in a TON of time into arc fighters and still terribly bad especially when it comes to losing my cool.

Ah, I was doing some of the challenges today. Question, do you use a stick? I feel like I might do better if I pick up a stick but it felt like it was hindering me whenever I used it in blazblue.

Also, I can never pull off that stupid instant kill move consistently.

Yeah I use a stick I find it makes the game more fun, and I try to use Carl in BB which is almost impossible to play him with a controller. Sticks do take some getting used to but are a lot more reliable as you can make more accurate inputs.

Instant kill moves aren't meant to be done consistently. It's basically only good for score attack mode. If you fight someone with higher than average knowledge on the game you should never attempt to use an instant kill. that 100 meter can be used a lot better doing sp moves rapid cancels or supers.

For me, the most difficult part of transitioning over to a stick is dashing. It was so much easier with a pad. Anyone else have this experience?

Also, added you guys on PSN. Let's play some time this week. :)

no it was just poor messaging

should have said something like

if you like anime fighting games then keep an eye out after AE finals

it would sting less that's for sure

Arc have been masters at that recently. I still remember +R and online for vita

well the guy doesn't even work for asw/atlus so

And this is why people shouldn't have taken this seriously.

Random twitter comment and people immediately get excited for nothing. It's kind of embarrassing, but I revel in these reactions to false announcements so I welcome it.

Hey guys, I'm gonna be doing online tournaments for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +, BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend, and Persona 4 Arena.

Eligible for North American PS3 players only.

It'll be a swiss tournament, going on for about a month.
Signups end about 2 weeks from now (tournament begins same day).
Haven't completely ironed out everything, but that's the basic gist of it (wanted to get this in the thread now, since more people are probably checking it out post Evo and all).

Send me a PM if you want to sign up.
Include your PSN and the games you want to play.

There'll different prize for each game.

For Persona 4 Arena, the Persona 4 Arena Original Design Works

For Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +, the Guilty Gear Original Sound Collection

For BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend, the Fraternity shirt from Brokentier

I'll make a thread next week, you can sign up there too, if you want, I guess.

ggs Orpheous. You seem to have the combos, you just need to work on the neutral game and mixing things up.

GGs man, I know I need a lot of work. Gotta hit the lab and just play some more matches. I should hopefully get better over time. castaction, I'll send you a request as soon as i can.(which should be in like 2 minutes lol)

I'll open up a proper thread on Monday for more signups/info after I've settled on stuff.
Signups will last through that Saturday, I guess, so probably the 28th, I guess?

It'll be over a month, you'll be responsible for your matches and whatnot (should be a 4-5 day period per match, unless there're fewer entrants), just need you to report it to me.

Not too many so far.
Only 6 for this (and that's the most of the 3 games).

If there're less than 8 entrants, it'll probably be round robin.

I bet once you do an actual thread more people will want to sign up. Right now there aren't many who still lurk in these community threads.

I would sign up but I lag too much!

I don't think you lag when I fight you. Just sign up. If it starts to become a problem you can just drop out. I did that one tournament cause I was having a bad night, it's not a big deal to play then quit.

A Yukiko player made top 8 at Evo? But I thought she was low tier! ;P

Well, the JP players pretty much just play whichever character they want to and do well since their level of play is higher than ours overall in this game.

Anyways, does anyone want to play me right now? I'll put up a lobby and stream for any that are interested.

I heavily disagree, especially going from the performance we saw at EVO.

EVO was amazing, and I'm not denying the fact that we have a ton of top players than can compete with them. We do, however, have a lot less players at that level, which is why I said "overall". Though that's mostly because we don't have nearly as strong of an offline outlet (arcades and all that) to bring more players to that level.

Well, even then I think "overall" is nebulous if we're going by total playerbase relative to skill level, but going from the online global leaderboards alone that seems feasible. Still, if we're discussing character representation or balance, I think it's more important to look at the top level of play exclusively instead of literally everyone.
