Some fanart miss some details like Mega Ampharos having horns than ears and Mega Absol having wings, but I blame the lack of hi-res art for that.

I was actually thinking this. I wonder if they will do this even if it's just to make the anime more interesting.

I really doubt they'd do it... unless they want to screw Raichu even further. Maybe Ash gets a Torchic or something or one of his Kalos region starters gets one.

Man, if there's a Mega Blasotise that somehow manages to be more badass than a regular Blastoise shit is going to go down.
Additional guns on forearms, gatling guns on chest, rocket pods on legs, shell reveals giant missile pods.

All the Gundam and mecha cliches we'll ever need.

As a long term Pokemon fans, after playing Puzzle & Dragons, I found the battles in P&D way deeper and strategic than Pokemon. Hope this mega evolution will turn battles more exciting.

*obligatory DBZ reference*

I'd rather have DBZ references than "Digivolving" references.

If they're gonna reference Digimon then they better use the right term. It's not Digivolving, it's "Burst Mode". Shows how little people watched the awesome series called Digimon Savers.

The thing that beats that is the fact we can get a Torchic from the start.

I read it as

HAHAHAH SUCK IT, FENNEKIN!

That thing is such a horrible design, it looks like something designed by a young kid and only slightly cleaned up by a professional artist.
You're crazy, Druddigon has an awesome design. He'd be my favorite dragon type if Kingdra and Flygon didn't exist.

I don't get why people love Groudon. Looks like a fucking electric shaver, one of the most idiotically designed Pokemon IMO. How would he function with those flat giant arms? The legs don't make any sense, they're just tacked on. His tail would outbalance him. No neck. Dumb designs on him.
Replying to your revised point, I like Groudon's design. It's heavy and powerful, with the form clearly reflecting its typing. The head and tail are shaped like plows, while the forearms are like those of a mole, both hinting at its ground type. The heavy armor and low profile make sense for a creature that lives underground in high heat and pressure. The legs are small, but it's not a speedster and therefore only needs them to support its weight.

For me, the worst designed legendaries are Palkia, Dialga, Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem's fused forms. They all look too busy and their roles are too arbitrary when compared with the clearly designed Gen 3 legendaries. Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza all just fit together really damn well.

Torchic was merely an alright fire starter, anyways. Only one worse was Tepig.

Chimchar, Cyndaquil and Charmander were awesome, though. And depending on Fennekin's evolutions, it can easily surpass Torchic -> Combusken -> Blaziken. I mean, I like Blaziken and all but... not a high bar.

Well, people are already fearing Fennekin is a Fire/Fighting so... :p

Eh, Chimchar was bottom of the barrel for me. Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic and then Tepig. Meanwhile Chimchar is Gen IV.

Chimchar is meh as well as crappy Monferno, but Infernape is soooo amazing. It's no Blaziken but damn it's so badass.

This would be terrible. I love fighting types and Fire types, but it was already done best with Infernape.

Eh. Infernape is the main reason for the love.

...Ooh, I hope for Mega Infernape!

Actually, regarding the Kanto starters, since the leaks say that we get to choose one in X/Y, I'm thinking that could be evidence for a Mega Evolution.

I'm really not keen on these MegaEvolutions. It feels so... unPokemon. Makes them feel more synthetic? Before, I always felt that evolution in the Pokemon world was a more natural process, akin to a larva becoming a pupa becoming an inago. Now it feels much more forced and shonen power-up-esque. Reduces that coherence of the Pokemon world for me. It doesn't help that the designs are so complicated.

On the other hand, I think Skiddo and Dedenne are great designs, and I love the fact EV training has finally been made explicit and open to all with Super Training, so I guess you win some you lose some.

I agree :/
That's part of why I'm not really feeling it. I was excited when I thought they were just awesome perma evols for some Pokemon ... but this temp stuff doesn't feel Pokemonish to me and it makes me feel like many awesome past Pokemon that could or should get evols/ split evols are now doomed to rely on this feature.

Seems like it's the term that's making it look off.

Should've been Awakened form or something.

It's not the term at all. I dislike Formes for exactly the same reason, for example. It's the fact the process doesn't seem in step with the idea of Pokemon as natural creatures which are only incidentally used for fighting by humans, and instead makes them seem combat-focused from the start with alts and supermodes and whatnot.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

the whole point of megastones is they are suppose to be unnatural, its actually the entire theme of this gen, which involves DNA

Yup, that's the problem I have, it seems to go against everything pokemon has been until now.

Sure, I guess I could be sold on it story-wise. If it was explained something like "after the Mewtwo experiments, Evil Team X decided to experiment on forcing Pokemon to evolve and stumbled across MegaLutions", and it's made a large plot-point and it's clear the process is occurring as a result of human tampering and so on, maybe I could buy it, sure. But then, that doesn't seem to be the way the process is going. Instead we're getting "Lucarionite", or "Mawileite" or whatever, which just seems so tacky and not at all fitting. I mean, with Mewtwo they could simply have revived the Beserk Gene from GSC, for example. Either way, my hope for MegaLutions is that it is stressed that they are totally unnatural, that the criteria for unlocking them or activating them or so on is very much focused around genetic engineering and so on, and that for they are extremely rare and do not often impinge into the rest of the world. Then I could buy it, maybe.

I will buy a 3DS just for Torchic. But doesn't anyone know of bundles and the like? I want a black 3DS with pokemon bundle (UK).

Again, I agree.

But I have always been ok with forms for legendary Pokemon or the odd ball pokemon here or there. They seemed "different" to normal Pokemon, more in-tune with w/e source all Pokemon draw from with more flexible make up on the genetic level.

I completely FLIPPED OUT when they revealed Pokemon amie. That idea of actually having a Nintendog-ish feature that allows people who don't see Pokemon as just "images with stats" to interact with them in some way other then battling? That got all my want! Hell, I have been posting that for YEARS as my dream feature for the game. A step in the direction for making this game feel more alive imo.

When I first saw these mega scans I also flipped out ... because I thought they were perma. Mind kept running, thinking about what they could be. "A 3rd evolution? A side-ways/ half step evolve that kinda just does a miner power bump but would allow a Pokemon to be the "leader" in their herd/ group? A alternate form that's only "stronger" for Pokemon like Mawile and Absol who can't evolve but for Pokemon like Lucario and Blaze it would just be a remixing of the stats they have?".

All seemed more interesting to me than what we know so far from a lore/ immersion PoV imo ... but w/e, we gotta wait until we get more info i guess. But it just doesn't really feel Pokemonish ... it feels like that line between Pokemon and Digimon is getting so blurred now that the one thing I CAN point to as a difference is "Digimon shows off tits were as Pokemon likes the absolute zone ...". There's many more differences but now that Pokemon has it's own digivolution thing that's one of the first things that come to mind :/
