He's not trying to be one though. Give him some credit.

guy is saying - you will be able to compare them yourself and decide, doesnt have anything to do with "confidence"... Being confident of your own product doesnt mean you get to crap on everyone else's... Turn10 tried that and didnt work out for them.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Don't know much about the original source of the rumor, "Guy". But when "generyx", who works for the games department of Saturn (part of the Media Markt Saturn holding of Metro), confirmed it I became curious.

Somebody replied to him "I don't know if I can take Saturn as a source of information serious anymore." whereon he replied "Hehe, me neither…".

Smells like trolling. :p

I think this is in reaction to the two AA battery megaton announcement from Microsoft the other day.

They're scrambling to deliver parity with this unique selling point of the Xbox One. Yes it's true.

This is a strange rumour to post since the source isn't credible and thinking that there may be a delay due to this is really absurd.

So he's an employee at the games department at saturn? Why is he even regarded as a "source"?

I was an employee at Media Markt for years (the same store under a different name).
To think these people actually get insider knowledge about these things is hilarious in it's own right.

Sony obviously sends out secret briefings to random retail store employees regarding the state of their console shipment for a videogame conference.

I'm just trying to imagine a scenario where Sony realizes they won't have PS4s at Gamescom... So they call a retailer to let them know.

The PS4 is non-playable unless people pay for a VITA admittance fee, by purchasing a vita at the gift shop, or providing proof of owning one.

This also applies to all pre orders, you are also buying a VITA and will be charged accordingly.

Yeah, with a new console looming and a ton of postive momentum, I'm sure they're just going to sit this out and let Microsoft have the stage with their hundreds of playable Xbone games.

Makes sense.

But when "generyx", who works for the games department of Saturn (part of the Media Markt Saturn holding of Metro), confirmed it I became curious. And like I said, having stuff stuck at customs is always a possibility. Happens to us citizens all the time to have no access to our stuff for four weeks because of customs regulations, could easily happen to Sony as well. The summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia (which is where Cologne is, which is where Gamescom takes place) run from 22nd of July to 3rd of September. That means there is only a limited workforce at customs and they aren't known to make exceptions. First come, first serve.

If the problem is indeed custom regulation, that means PS4s for Gamescom are already stuck at Germany border at the very moment. If that's the case, nobody should know, not even Sony itself, how long it's going to be stuck there. That's how custom works. If they need to inspect something at the border they will never give you a time frame when your stuff will be granted the access. The question is, if nobody have a clue whether PS4 will make it to Gamescom in time, how can a dude working in a game department know?

They send messages to store employees, scrawled on pieces of paper and hidden inside the protein jelly served at lunch.

Definately wrong. Been at the exhibiton halls a few minutes ago. There are already installing the demo stations. At least a quarter of the huge playstation booth is dedicated to PS4.

If X1's there, PS4's gonna be there too. This is a silly rumor. It would be an incredibly stupid thing from Sony to miss the biggest European show three months before release.

Also, Killzone: SF's MP is said to debut at Gamescom, so.

Is it bad of me to be more excited for further impending meltdowns as the new console launches approach, than for the actual consoles themselves?

Because I totally am.

Sorry, I was joking. Rushy answer was great and as you said had nothing to do with confidence. Let your work speak for itself and all that jazz.

Take pics of the boxes! We love those!

We contacted Sony directly for clarification, and they said it's going to be playable on the show floor (even asked where the rumor was from, as they hadn't heard it). Case closed.
