Seems to make sense to me. Speaking about Finland here but Playstation brand has just a tight grip here that if you have to focus your launch efforts somewhere it isn't here. Imagine it could be similiar with some other countries that got the 2014 treatment. Pretty cool of them to give a free game at least. Hopefully it will be something worth a while.

Looking on the positive side, at least they could plan a 1-2 boost in 2014 for the envitable dip in sales they're going to see.

Launch in Tier 2 countries with a Titanfall bundle April 2014

Launch in Tier 3 countries & price cut $100 or $150 Kinectless bundle with Halo 5 bundle in September 2014

Wave 3 is June 2014 though

What can they do, It's smarter to support the regions with the highest sales with as much consoles as possible. Then again, why countries like Brazil get it before Switzerland , Holland and Sweden? And Austria and Germany yes but Switzerland no?. Just Strange.

Microsoft secures Ultimate Team for FIFA14, yet fails to release its console in the large parts of FIFAs market. I wonder how EA will feel about that.

No, its just some exclusive content inside of Ultimate Team. Sony consoles will get basic Ultimate Team.

I think population number can explain that?

A damn mess.

My poor sis BeySUS in Holland can't even get one

I'm not affected by MS' incompetence. Was not planning to get one soon anyway.

I'll be getting one when I'm not forced to buy the Kinect mess as well. I wonder how long I'll have to wait.

Millions??

360 only sold under 20 mill this entire generation outside of US (40) UK (8) and Canada/Mexico/Aus/NZ (8+)

Yet a delay of 6 months~ means millions won't get an X1 at launch? no.

I'm just guesstimating based on Microsoft's own numbers. Didn't they say they planned to sell a billion Xbones?

Its already been anounced that alot of the TV features are a work in progress so the delay cannot surely be for that reason.

I doubt they have toss-loads of hardware sitting around that cannot be shipped due to language issues.

Which leaves hardware issues? - Yield issues as Cboat described?

Not only does it mean MSoft cannot properly penetrate large markets at once, but they will surely have trouble saturating their primary markets completely, opening all sorts of doors for PS4?

Is it true, with regard to consoles?

When PS3 and 360 launched in 'Europe' that meant the whole Eurozone at the time + UK/Portugal/Sweden etc. The only notable exceptions were Poland, and Russia.

Xbox One's launch is certainly a step back from those launches in terms of what it means to launch in 'Europe'. I don't know what the story was before then, with PS2 etc.

So true in regards to "we still don´t know wtf Sonys plans are". I guess I´m revelling in launch anxiety since I live in tier 2 Xbone territory and hope that Sony are not on the same track.

Microsoft sucessfully managed to ignore the asian market with the 360 and is now ignoring both the european and the asian market with the One-80...
This launch is really going FUBAR for Microsoft, I am prepared with the popcorn :D

No, they didn't.

Taiwan and Hong Kong should be before April 2014,since distributor of Xbox One in SEA said they will launch in this FY year

I have no doubt it's all over the place and other than these 13 countries this holiday nothing is finalised.

I guess MS can launch wherever they want, the better question would be if they are allowed to prevent imported systems from working. But I don't think they'll try to anyway.

No, it was a joke. Sorry, doesn't always translate well on the Internet.

I think you forgot the "go online once to play offline" requirement. What will happen when an European purchases an Xbone at launch (say, on Amazon.fr) and as soon as she receives it in her tier 2 country she tries to turn it on only to discover that her brand new console is completely useless?

They have the main European countries (sales wise) covered so it is not a disaster in Europe. Those being UK and Germany.

What would be a concern is a scenario where, despite concentrating on fewer countries, MS still has less XBO stock than PS4's in all those priority countries.

Pretty much what I said earlier.

They create a precise marketing campaign for each of those markets.

Edit. When I say precise, I mean marketing that's exclusively German or British in its design.

All these "I'll go PS4 then" posts. Do we know if Sony is potentially doing the same? I wouldn't think any consumer electronics device would launch in every single country around the world at once. Someone will always be left out right? Isn't this the way Apple does it? 15 or so up front, then the rest later?

Man, it didn't take too long for the "Sony too!" force to pop up.

If GTA somehow gets a next gen version as a launch title, the first trailer will suddenly have a whole new meaning

"Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather"

They said they expected next gen console sales could go up to a billion units, can't link on rubbish mobile, but its an easy Google, sorry for no link will update later.

Well, it's all guessing until launch I suppose, but I'd say activation works everywhere. Otherwise, this wouldn't be a new problem as Poland was always not going to get the Xbone this year, despite being in the EU.

EDIT: ^ Okay, in this case I'll take everything back I said and state the opposite.

Some Benelux or Nordic people needing a German IP address through VPN for a short amount of time? I'm lending it to you quite cheaply ;)
