Spent about 30 hours on Guild wars 2. How does FF14 stack up against GW2 as a MMO?

It's up to taste, but I think it has more satisfying gameplay mechanics, systems, classes, music, and storylines. It's got one of those really good high-quality FF storylines.

Since this game doesn't release until the 27th, can I use the beta download on my ps3 as the game until it releases or do I need to re download the client somewhere? Then once early access is gone will I need to use my disc to play? So confused =x

So anyone here enjoyed Fishing in Phase 4? Man that was so damn relaxing and always getting stuck with one ? Fish left each of the area's i would fish at. :(

If you have the client from Phase 4 on your PS3. That will be the client you want to keep on your system for Early Access.

You can use the Phase 4 client and it'll update to the release client. You'll have to register your CD key to play past Early Access, though.

Actually I think it's time that I ask one question that I could never answer on my own even though I played from Alpha till Beta 4, how big is the game-world actually? Or better asked, with the world-map you have on M does it show you the whole world from the start? I ask because I never saw any entrances to other areas besides the surroundings of the three city states but maybe I just missed them :p

FFXIV has targeting more comparable to WoW in terms of tab targeting and such, but also has more combo/reactive moves. It also has FATEs which are basically the same as GW2's dynamic events, shared mob taps, and some level scaling. XIV definitely relies on the trinity system (tank, healer, dps) for groups, but since smaller groups are only 4 people and you'll often find that it's 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 caster, 1 physical there doesn't seem to be as much competition for gear.

I've only experienced XIV up to 20 so I don't know if it will have the kind of endless grinds that I've heard people talk about in regards to GW2's endgame gear.

In the end I feel like the combat style really makes them two completely different experiences though... other than the FATE zergs.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm also going to pick this up on PC since I'll want to switch back and forth between PS3 and PC.

Yep, I'm wondering this too.

OT that forces me to stretch my browser is NO GOOD.

Should have been nothing but ERROR 3 at this rate. Like fuck me, if they cant even run servers for code redemption, launch is going to be an apocalypse.

Yea it turns out that its not just their servers but their incapacity to code javascipt and web pages correctly. (anyway they have taken down registration until they have fixed it, so Error 3 will be the response you get for now)

I am hoping it will be sorted by tomorrow :S

i think there's only two other regions outside of the surrounding town regions, and they are coerthas and mor dhona. i didn't explore much of gridania but i have an album that shows multiple zones here if you're interested, including the new coerthas and mor dhona which are probably the biggest regions in the game at the moment.

the world map will probably be opened up more through expansions like Ishgard for example or maybe some content patches.

Great OT

Wish it was early access right now ._.

Still not sure which class I want to go with at the start. Maxed Arc and Acn in the beta but had about equal fun with each.

Was there any rips of the Coerthas and Camp Dragonhead music? Ran there in the beta and my god, that music was so good.

Cross-play means that if I have the pc version registered, I can play it on my ps3 as well without buying the software for it?

Awesome OP :O

A pity I wont be able to play much till november but really looking forward to ARR, Im amazed how Yoshida has really changed a total failure into a really awesome game.

Well there goes one of my preorder bonuses - called in to work a change this weekend so probably won't have time to play head start. Ah well, I never had a chance in the race anyway :)

Wait, so they closed the registrations but didn't take the site down, so the people that didn't read the notice are left thinking that something is wrong and led to keep trying again later?

Great job.

I already have this game for PC (1.0 player). But I pre-ordered the PS3 CE. When I go to enter the pre-order code for Early Access, it asks if I want PC or PS3.

I intend to play this game on PC 100%. I only got the PS3 CE because Square is dumb and won't let you register the PC CE onto an existing PC account and because Digital River is poop. So can I select PC with my pre-order code and play Early Access on PC instead of PS3, despite the code coming from a PS3 pre-order?

Will it even let me do it since I have a 1.0 account and you can't register PC version again onto a 1.0 account?

i'm in the exact same situation. ordered ps3 ce because I already have pc 1.0 because I want all the CE items (both physical and digital) but I'll probably only play PC. Hoping I can use my early access on PC but yeah...
dammit my 20digit code is in the wrong region........... :(
how does one tell if this is the case?
