*RUMOR* Kotaku headlines: Xbox One to launch on November 8, 2013!

Has the XBOX ONE received its FCC Certification? I haven't seen it mentioned or a thread made about it. I have seen the PS4 FCC Certification.
I didn't even think about that Sony went thought FCC certification 5 months before launch and most likely Microsoft will go through within the next month. that makes me think Sony can produce many consoles.

I'm curious about this too since PS4 passed FCC awhile ago and nothing is heard of from X1

It's more a case of PS4 passing certification unusually early than MS being late. Usually it's only 3-4 weeks prior to launch. Hell, Apple iPhone's pass certification and then launch a week later.

If Sony can't produce a lot of consoles they'll be buggered as they are launching in 32 countries this year.

I don't think so, MS isn't going to give up the U.S market according to the points I made earlier. Also if you have seen their Xbox one unboxing video, they already have begun making em as early as the beginning of August. Their unboxing video was four months before the consoles release day btw.

That could easily be a promo box setup and not a full production model. Companies make several packaging variants before deciding on the final retail versions. It wouldn't be hard to put together a "boxed" version for that video...

Anyone else think that Sony may have chosen their launch date to fuck with MS's? Nov 15 IMO is the last good date to launch before holidays and I think we all got the feeling that's MS needed all the time they could get.

Interesting. Then Microsoft should have enough units to saturate their targeted 13 regions.

Why are people saying "the sooner, the better"? Aside from the last-minute changes to the hardware/sdk.. this will be a rushed launch. Do you all want a RROD part 2? I'm definitely waiting at least a year before I pick up my Xbox One...

Not saying it's real or fake - but - one thing that stood out to me is that the date "November 8" is different from other dates on that list that have 2 digits....look at the date for NBA and CoD. They list them as October 01 and November 05. Wouldn't the XBONE be "November 08"?

Didn't even notice that until I read your post. Sure enough, it's there. Though it's also the only non-confirmed date so that might have something to do with formatting. It could even be as simple a thing as a typo.

Still a good catch. Makes it suspect.

I wouldn't be shocked if RROD part 2 happens with the Xbox One but i am still buying it day one.

A one week head start to sell more consoles during the Holiday season, I know it's really hard to believe.
I don't understand how they can sell more units than they can make. Isn't their inability to produce enough units the primary reason why they've scaled the launch back from 21 territories to 13?

Edit. nvm I forgot their reasoning was "translation problems."

I don't see why a one week advantage would have any significant impact. Maybe a one month advantage would and only then if there was lots of supply available.

Got any other rational facts? You must mean in the states? You could be right but without much to back it up it's all wishful thinking. I know you don't mean WW since Sony is launching in 32 countries vs MSFT's 13.

Microsoft is going to sell what they have regardless of when they ship. And according to rumors supply will be quite limited.

Again, I fail to see how this is some huge advantage.

It's a week.

If Xbox One launched a week after PS4 it wouldn't change anything in the grand scheme of things.

What's going to be more important is how much supply either company is able to produce.

It would be pretty funny if MS purposely decided on a week before the PS4. If they are rushing it to meet that date I really don't see the point.

I am not sure if I'll buy either console this year but I am looking forward to the launch events and threads on GAF. Especially if the launches are that close to each other.

Parents aren't going to buy a $500 console without information.
Parents buy tablets that are more expensive for their children. I can see them going to the store seeing this new system and getting it for their kids.

I hope this is the actual release date.

MS has to release the Xbox one early, it's one of their last chances to 1up the competition. Next thing they need to do is release a special bundle deal with a AAA game or a special colored console.

How much does it really help? If they have tons of stock, maybe. But if they announce the date at PAX, are people going to run out and start preordering? If so, where? Its not like there are a lot of options to buy one at this point if you are really motivated by a 1 week head start. A lot of store stock will be eat up by preorders from weeks/months ago. If stores have stock for shelves, will it be enough to make a huge impact on overall numbers with people who camp out for it?

Its not like Microsoft will be able to create tons of more stock to sell just buy releasing one week early..its only a week, not a month.

The launch dates interval is so small, it's futile to talk about any potential gain from launching earlier. The real question is which company will be producing more...

Most parents are informed. How old are these children with tablets? You're under estimating the smart and frugal parent.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Imagine if the Xbox One had its own RROD fiasco?

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo
PS4 launches the day before my wedding

XB1 possibly launching the day before my birthday/bachelor party

This year is going to ruin me.

And there is no comma between Friday and Nov.

I really don't think its right to compare a parent buying their kid an ipad to them just picking up an Xbox at launch. Even then a single week that early in November probably isn't going to make too much of a difference unless the kid asks for the system or something and it will still come down to stock in the end.

Really hope the system is ready. Another RROD-like problem would spell the end.

Still getting a PS4.

Yeah this is kinda why I think this is fake. Obviously not RROD-proportion problems, but if the rumours are true then wouldn't this be MS rushing it a bit?
there's a chance im completely clueless

This is not the date I promise. The fact that they said watch dogs would be a launch title debunks this. Microsoft would never lie to me.

Are you the same one who said you heard Nov. 17th, and then talked to Bish? If that's the case, I'm impressed you're still around. Must mean you have some sort of info.

i think watch dogs will get below average review scores and they wont release it 1 week earlier. when people see the score, they might skip the ps4 version

Really? Still four months away from launch and your saying the PS4 won already? Lmao! Nice hyperbole.

I'm repeating what's out there. Unless there's this mass drop in/cancellation of ore-orders (totally possible) then yeah, seems like PS4 has X1 beat this Christmas.

Like, I'm asking - say it release a week early: So what? Sony doubles down on advertising earlier than planned and everyone just waits a week? This isn't how they get the edge. They're releasing in half as many countries at that? I dunno. I'm just talking about Christmas though.
