Same reason that Wii U existsCan someone explain to me why they don't just push the OG 3DS as their value product?
They cray

lol wtf, who is this for? Who has an XL or a regular 3DS and thought "Man, I wish I didn't have the option for 3D" ?
It's amazing Nintendo is wasting their time with this shit instead of trying to save the wii u
So games like Super Mario 3D land and Kid Icarus Uprising are unplayable on this system?

The analog/button positioning here says to me they clearly are de-emphasizing the second screen, probably just keeping it for legacy reasons. I doubt the next Nintendo handheld will have two screens.[/QUOTE]
It just says to me that they want to keep the triggers on the top without adding any bulk on the back, keeping it a slate-like flat surface.

3D Land doesn't need 3D outside of maybe 3 side stages. So games like Super Mario 3D land and Kid Icarus Uprising are unplayable on this system?
Wait...worse battery than the XL?! Why would they think that would be a good idea? ugh...
I wonder if you guys were so vocal at the release of the DS lite, DSi, and DSi XL. I'd imagine not though. It's pretty in vogue to shit on Nintendo for any reason these days.
Maybe if they drop the price, they would be taking a bigger loss (like with what's happening with the Wii U).Can someone explain to me why they don't just push the OG 3DS as their value product?
It hasn't even the sleep mode, a very big loss for a handheld imo.
The idiotic thing is the lack of clamshell which is the best thing for kids.
Nintendo should allow retail games to be 2D-only if desired. It frees up power for better graphics and could allow for less headaches for smaller devs, who knows, could open up even more support.

It's probably due to the use of a different type of screen than the 3DS - it's not too much of a problem for me really. No power save mode? That's weird.
kid icarus uprising was unplayable before.
I don't have any interest in it for playing myself, but it might be useful a few years down the road for road trips and child silencing.
Less than thrilled about the no folding part...I wonder what guided their choice to kill the clamshell.
Perhaps I'm too cynical but with parents buying 9 year olds CoD I don't think the warning is what was the barrier for parents buying the console. I know it's not completely analogous but I don't have faith that parents are that conciuous about these things.
Unfortunately, when you have a system that depends on two screens, it doesn't make sense for the system to be one piece.
People keep saying this but it makes no sense. There is more to a tablet than the silhouette. The shape is a consequence of the real reason people like tablets which is the giant continuous screen.Looks more like a tablet lol
