Pocket-carrying GAF represent?
You called?
Pocket-carrying GAF represent?
I showed this to my 7 year old and he laughed.
Wait they want to target kids with this thing and at $129? Who the fuk did they think they were targeting before I mean besides the man-children here isn't kids the main demographic nintendo targets anyway?
Oh and 3D is dead there is no point in making it a necessary or even a niche feature for developers when the hardware inventor itself has ditched it. Nintendo is so proud they just won't admit they should have called in the DS2 at launch but they rather try and save face with this thing.
Its $40 more. Thats a big difference. That's money that could be used buying a game... Like Pokemon which conveniently comes out the same day.I mean, a regular ass 3DS is like 20 dollars more.
What niche does this fill, exactly?
Oh, and someone tell the parents that it's not a Wii U controller, it's not a Wii add-on, it's a standalone console which looks a lot like a Wii U controller, the latter of which is not a standalone console but a controller for a standalone console, and that neither the Wii U nor the 2DS are Wii add-ons.
That'll clear everything up.
The poor Vita ;_;
Teens, young adults, and assuming a bit of the older nostalgic crowd as well
The 2DS is the perfect handheld for the 4 to 10 year olds (but also for other's who prefer/ed the smaller screens to the 3DS XL - du to a sharper image).
Parents will go crazy for this thing this holiday season. This is gonna sell a shitton!
The 3DS won't even be an option anymore. I think Ninty will be phasing that one out, so that in the future there will only be the 2DS and 3DS XL, which makes perfect sense.

What's wrong with having a cheaper alternative on the market?...but there was nothing wrong with the first 3ds I have a 5, 7, and 9 year old that play it just fine.
They just want to weasel out of paying for 3d components and a bigger screen so they have less overhead this was their year 5-8 mini/basic model that they rushed ahead of time to make up for the Wii u.
Coming back and looking at it again, thinking about ti a bit...still looks like a good move for Nintendo.
The bafflement and ridicule in here is ludicrous.
My prediction is that this console will not sell, be produced in limited quantities compared to the current 3DS models and be highly sought after in ten years by collectors because of arcane hardware feature only found on this particular model.
NeoGAF.comI can't wait to see the sales numbers.
Does anyone know any good site that provides accurate sales numbers in the west?
No hinge = less breakable parts
No 3D = no eye damage
Unbelievable.
1. Screen size downgraded to original 3ds... smaller than DSi XL. Especially bad for kids.
2. Looks very uncomfortable to use, with controls in weird places relative to the screen and still no second stick. Again, especially bad for kids with small hands.
3. No longer portable, can't be closed.
Even if you wanted a 2ds would you want one with a smaller screen than the DSi XL, incredibly ugly, with terrible controls?
I really hope they have a Japanese release for the 2DS so I can save a bunch of money by buying that instead of a Japanese 3DS.
When I saw that picture I thought it looked like my old "My First Sony" tape player.

Please Nintendo of Japan, I need my SRW UX and Inazuma Eleven fix!
Woah, you're a genius. I've been wanting to buy a Japanese 3DS so I can import.... this could be the perfect opportunity.
Yeah, if they make a 2DS CPP, how on earth is it going to work?
Also, lol at the "it'll be uncomfortable" comments. I don't judge comfort for myself based on looks. For all I could tell visually, the Wii U gamepad was going to be mighty uncomfortable; but it ended up being even more comfortable than the Wii controller (though it still pales in comparison to the Gamecube's).
Maybe the 2DS will be region free?

I posted this earlier in the thread. It's moving so fast so it's easy to miss.I know it looks horrible, but how does it feel in the hands?
Why even make a 3D system in the first place? I have so much mixed feels about this....
