XBL: Games with Gold

Vampire Rain is grossly under-appreciated. It's not for everyone, but if you're a stealth fan, it's definitely one to check out.
Huh. Never even heard of this one before. A quick check of the wiki shows me it's probably my kind of game. I just finished Mark of the Ninja doing no-kill runs as much as possible. Kind of disappointed that game doesn't have a trophy for completing the game without killing anyone (besides one character you must kill at the end of one level).

Back on topic: Shadow Complex and Splosion Man make a lot of sense if the give away any more XBLA titles. Great games, first party, pretty old.

Magic 2013? This is Nintendo levels of tightasse, and i mean it literally since Magic 2014 is out. At least give us Yu-Gi-Oh or something.

I loved Bullet Witch. I imported the Japanese version and it was a ton of fun. Big open levels, for the most part, crazy powers and an insane story. They should totally put that up some time so that more people get a chance to see it.

Thanks. I might as well see if I can find a cheap disc copy as it's unlikely MS will ever give it away.

Yeah, you should definitely check it out. Word of warning, it's crazy hard. Almost to the point where it can sometimes feel it's being unfair, but if you're after a challenging stealth game, you could much worse than VR.

how do you guys even find these games? I never see them on the dashboard. I only ever find em because of gaf and then I google the games with gold thing.

not really that visible.

really over delivering on value there. how can they possibly keep this up for another three months when the program is supposed to end?

It is really hence why a lot of people can find it :p

It's usually on the front page or the games tab and like the above image showing Magic 2013 it states "Games with Gold"

I wonder about this. The end date is December 2013, will they move the promotion to the One (there should be a decent amount of games to choose from by January) or will they quietly drop it?

If they keep it on the One, expect it to be more akin to the PS+ structure where you lose the game after dropping your subscription, until you resubscribe. Otherwise, I don't see them moving it over. At least not for a couple of years.

Sounds about right. I do find it strange they didn't adopt a Plus approach to giving away games. It would have given a lot more leeway in what and how many games they could away and it would have allowed them to have it on One from launch.

I get it sounds better that the games are yours forever, but at the same time it's silly to limit the service in such a way.

It's possible they just didn't have the systems in place for it and didn't want to upgrade the Xbox 360's storefront/account system this close to moving to the new one.

So I'm guessing Magic isn't even a full retail game? Damn, it's probably going to be this and Halo 3. One game I have no absolutely no interest in and the other I've had for 5 years. Hopefully October will have a better selection (speaking personally).

Edit: I've heard some people mentioning that the second game is TC Rainbow Six Vegas but I'm not sure on that.

That's probably the best of the Magic games at least. (2014 isn't that great, honestly.)
Can you elaborate on what makes 2013 the best and 2014 worse?

I've actually been considering getting into Magic for some strange reason (I'll blame Hearthstone streams), so I'd be okay with this weirdly coincidental freebie.

I find the decks in Magic 2013 more interesting to play since they have more powerful and interesting cards and the puzzles (which are my favorite part of these games every year) are better. Also, the single player campaign has less silly gimmick fights.

Also, the whole 2014 experience is kind of sullied for me by the Sealed deck mode which is cool in theory but has gross micro-transactions. But you can totally ignore that.

Though I may be somewhat conflating the original release of 2013 and it's expansion pack which added some sweet decks.

I am hoping for something not Halo 3 (i own it) and Magic. Halo 4 would be cool.
But i really should not care because i downloaded all Free with gold games but did not play any of them even once.
I planed to get ps+ in november just to colect free games for when i buy ps4 1 year later, but now i am not sure anymore that i will ever play them. It looks i like collecting free games more than playing them :/
Am i the only one? :(
