Normally I'd say con code is months old and designed separately from the game but I think the more pertinent thing is why would you guys ever expect excellence from EA of all companies at launch? Have any of their launch games been flag carriers?

Man, just imagine is DICE had to lower the player count to 8 at launch to get it to work on 'next gen' system. I would point and laugh.
Only reason I'd talk shit is because I wasted a third of my day at PAX to hardly play for 4 minutes. I'd rather wait an extra 30 and play for 15 minutes than deal with some half-assed bullshit that they couldn't even get stable.
You right. Uh. That's why I found people on page 1 wondering how DICE is gonna have this ready by launch date huh?

Yeah, it was my biggest disappointment of the day and I'm a huge battlefield fan. Spent $110 on BF3 + Premium and have 120 hours logged.
I actually tweeted some corrections at him and he replied. Cool guy, I shouldn't have judged so quickly. Next he should post my Xbox controller drawings as news.
What's your point? Neither can next-gen consoles.

Are the controls changed? I know they're switching triggers/shoulders on PS4 and there will be an option to revert (if not, I'm doomed) but I heard some crazy shit about knifing on circle, spotting on R2 and other nonsense. How was it with X1 controller?
Didn't the OP say they had Xbox one controllers and dummy Xbox ones on the stands? Seems like either EA or MS intended to give the impression it was an Xbox one demo - bearing mind most people won't notice the kinds of small details the OP picked up on

Honestly, I'm completely clueless. I couldn't figure out the controls in the limited time I had because it used the PC hud and button prompts. Sorry!
Right, but the suggestion seemed to be that the 6950 could indeed handle this task while outperforming new consoles.
I saw someone playing who tried to change his loadout 7 times so I believe it when he said it was stock.
I knew it was running on PC and the line was longer than I'd like so I passed on playing after watching people go at it for 5 minutes or so.

I thought the X360 controller was close to perfect, it's much better than the PS3's. But after playing around with the controllers I must say I now prefer PS4 > X360 > X1 > PS3. Very impressed with what Sony have done with DS4.
Though I was hoping that both would be more like the Wii U Pro controller, as most games nowadays use both sticks heavily and I'd like them to be placed where my thumbs rest most naturally (top corners).

Hrm. Well if the One's controller is actually worse than the 360's, then by my reckoning the console has got absolutely nothing going for it at the moment. Had never noticed that the triggers were quite so fat now. Why on earth would they change something like that?
Thread has made me actually consider waiting until Titanfall launches to pick up an Xbone.
Also, Dice has a game to ship in less than two months, can't really blame then for not having new build ready just for PAX.

are much more positive. Seriously. I just got into BF3 this year, and would hate to hear more negative impressions about the next installment. The comments in the thread about next gen consoles not matching PC were enough. Lol.

It's all subjective really. Just like the preference of which console you prefer. Lets not take his word as gospel.
That wasn't the problem. The problem was that it was the E3 build with zero unlocks rather than the gamescom build which had everything unlocked.
No gadgets, scopes, launchers, medkits, or anything else that makes battlefield awesome. Add in the low player count and it makes for a poor advertisement of the game. The whole point of PAX is advertising.
Having tried the xbox one controller extensively at Gamescom, I can definitely say that no, it's not worse than the 360s. It's noticeably improved in quite a few areas and the rumble in the triggers is really sweet, but I'd say it's definitely not AS improved as MS boasts.
If I had to make a comparison with the PS4 controller, which I also tried extensively, the Dualshock 4 comes on top, and not by a few. Now if only you could have a DS4 with the sticks arranged like the Xbox controller...

What are you basing this on and what's the point in speculating?
In a real world scenario (ie - installed in a PC), it won't outperform the new consoles for a variety of reasons.
Nah it's just reactions in here similar to the previous thread that had IGN saying the consoles aren't up to par with PC, which we should have knew already. Lol.

This thread (about BF4 lacking) is eerily similar to the earlier one about BF4 running at a paltry 720P and the IGN dude saying the game looked poop.

BF4 was obviously running on PCs at the Xbox booth, and between the time that we toured the booths early in the morning and later when the public were making their way through at least 6 stations had to be shut down. I'm not sure what that was about, but I don't have confidence in DICE to make the most out of the new consoles by release.

The DS3 had a lot of room for improvement and Sony have seemingly done a good job with it.

I doubt it, PS4 GPU has far more GPGPU grunt than 6950, once developers start using more compute stuff you are screwed.
Man I really can't wait for the consoles to be released. So much speculation in ALL threads these days; from me too of course. Everything will clear up come end of november, and I just want to cryosleep til that point
On topic, it's a little bit sad to see such a weak effort at PAX from DICE but I mean they did prettt much more than everyone else in terms of letting people play their game at gamescom and E3. Rigging all the computers, letting people play without supervision, and being generally good sports about questions and concerns. Leagues beyond the attrocious handling of COD ghosts PR if you ask me.

I understand that, but what I've seen of new consoles aren't enough to justify buying multiplats on consoles.
