I don't get the complains about the sun and flare. It's as accurate as it gets. Turn 10 reverse-engineered the sun after all.
Well, it is "Rocket Science Stuff" - like Marc Whitten said.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!
What a way to wake up. Muverfucking Mount Panorama!!
It looks so fucking good.
Damn Turn 10, finally, after all these years you have finally done it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Now, all that's needed is some Monaros, Brock Commodores, Toranas and GT Falcons.
Joy to the world!
I dont really understand this "a new generation is upon us" marketing bullshit.A little defensive I see. I own all previous Forza's, GT's and Horizon. So please, wash your mouth out of that troll garbage. A new generation is upon us, and what I'm seeing just isn't enough IMO.....see that, IMO. Everyone has one so please, cut the crap and jog on.
I woke up the same way not long ago 8)HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!

You wake up at 6 in the afternoon?
Must have had a damn good night last night lol.
while I'm listening to Wiswell's rendition of that wonderful 308 5.0 at 7000rpm's.
The tires in the barrier are polygonal
I don't follow. This isn't exactly our first glimpse of Forza 5. I've seen gameplay already and think that looks great. If you expecting much more than what you see there you're setting yourself up for massive disappointment.
Oh look. Turn 10 put a blazing sun right at eye level again on another track.
So fucking obnoxious. Every track they've shown has this and it's really annoying in the gameplay videos.
come on guys, its 300-400 tires stacked up in one turn of a 6.2km long circuit.
how many polys per stacked-up tire you need to be happy?
I don't follow.
and real life.
Basically, if anyone expects a tyre wall to look much better than that, they are indeed setting themselves up for disappointment.
I honestly can't even see what's wrong with the texture on the other side of the track either even though it's apparently "PS2" quality.
The only issues in that screenshot are the white road marking getting blurred and the tyres aren't getting shadows applied properly (from the outer skin mostly).
Screw that, give me a 351 Clevland on song down conrod
Added the new track image to the ol' collection.
I don't see why somebody couldn't expect the tire barrier to look better than that. Its not impossible to do, after all. It just seems to be one of the areas that Turn 10 decided wasn't as important so they could focus some of that graphics power elsewhere. A perfectly understandable decision, but it seems really silly to use a photo that plainly highlights, front and center, this deficiency in the graphics for such an important reveal.Basically, if anyone expects a tyre wall to look much better than that, they are indeed setting themselves up for disappointment.

Oh man, listen to that thing.
Fuck's sake Turn 10, when are we getting a video?
I need to hear the cars. I need some stress relief and listening to a V8 bang around Mount Panorama would be the ideal scenario.
Those aren't polygonal tyres, they are perfectly round tyres with flat spots.
Realism extreme, only on Xbone.
only one more thing I want confirmed for full marks. laser scanned ring. 8)
yeah I know. just want a small article on fm.net with a crappy pic saying: WE SCANNED YOUR RING BIATCHES!Badneds comments on the ring give much hope of that.
I was firmly in the 'downgrade from E3 is a conspiracy theory' camp but after seeing this, I'm beginning to believe it. The track detail looks barely improved (if at all) from FM4.
So this is the first you've seen of Forza 5 then?I was firmly in the 'downgrade from E3 is a conspiracy theory' camp but after seeing this, I'm beginning to believe it. The track detail looks barely improved (if at all) from FM4.
But the E3 demo was already looking like FM4 apparently, so how does that work.

final game is a downgrade to forza 2 my friend. forza 4 gfx levels where run on supercharged pc's at E3.
learn your war material!

The E3 demo looked great, probably one of the best looking next-gen games (at the time). But there seems to be a lot of stuff that's disappeared, not least the haze. Obviously part of it is city track vs track in the middle of nowhere but everything seems worse; lighting, effects, track detail. But the E3 demo was already looking like FM4 apparently, so how does that work.
Aw shit, well you already see PS2 assets in the shot above so I should have known better, sorry
yeap, as it was commented, there's plenty of PS2 grass in there too!!
maybe its time i whip up a new gif...
Perhaps you should look at some screenshots from FM4 before claiming such rubbish.
Some of you should really race a few laps in FM4 to get your rose-tainted glasses removed. You would be surprised. It's hard to go back after seeing gameplay videos and bullshots of FM5...
Really? Texture detail looks similar to me. Polygonal detail is hard to judge because they're very different tracks, but the awkward looking, flatly lit verges in the Bathurst shot don't do it any favours.
Well about bloody time. They need some good Aussie muscle cars to top it off though.
Time to pre-order an Xbox One...

I think there is the volumetric haze in Bathurst still, but it's thinner so it's harder to tell until you see it side by side with F4, so I stand corrected there.
Maybe it's just similar to what they did with F4; lead the PR with the super pretty, hand-crafted tracks (Monserrat, Prague), then when the recreations of real tracks follow they don't look nearly as good...because reality doesn't look as good.
Honestly though you guys have spent a lot more time with the game than me, I only play it when I go to my friend's house, so I'll defer to your opinion if you think it looks like a big improvement. It just doesn't look very much like one to me.

With all the fan-requested stuff making their way in FM5, maybe I should update this gif I had done upon FM4's reveal :

I think you should go take a look at PS2 textures again, to be honest.
And no, they aren't OG Xbox quality, either.
