I didn't read my own avatar and now everyone knows I'm not too bright. :(
I love how Erens dad took off, hasn't been back for five years. Missed his graduation and he's OK with that.

Simplified summary of the unconfirmed spoilers via mangahelpers:
- Mikasa and co. heed Hannes's warning and backed off from Reiner
- Reiner charges into the titan crowd
- Reiner's effort goes futile as he gets swallowed in the crowd
- More action between Scouts and titans
- Distance between titans narrows, and as Erwin gives command to advance further, his arm got bit off by a crawler
- Mikasa gives her final warning to Bert, to which Bert says no
- Jean carries Mikasa away on a horse
- Reiner gets swarmed, YmirChrista escapes
- Hannes tries to cut down Bert
- Bert cuts off Hannes's anchor
- Hannes fell on and got grabbed by a titan
- Hannes: "Eren... It's okay if you don't win... So don't lose [either]"
- Eren--->Titanify
- Erwin still calls for advance
- Lots of people died, but finally reaches Reiner
- Mikasa in front line, advances towards Bert and Eren, gets caught by Titan, Jean saves her (apparently Isayama says this chapter we see Jean acting like a prince to Mikasa, not that she appreciates his feelings though lol. I think this is the bit he's talking about.)

Simplified summary of the unconfirmed spoilers via mangahelpers:
I believe a fair deal (but not all) of this is off. The obvious bit being that it doesn't even mention
Erwin slashing Bert. He got the chance to do that because Bert got mad at Armin's mention of Annie currently being interrogated/tortured. Oddly, Bert calls them "demon spawn". Also, I don't believe anything has happened to Hannes. Yet. With that one titan resurfacing at the end, you know something's just bound to happen...

EDIT: I'll try and correct.

- Mikasa and co. heed Hannes's warning and backed off from Reiner
- Reiner charges into the titan crowd
- Reiner's effort goes futile as he gets swallowed in the crowd
- Distance between titans narrows, and as Erwin gives command to advance further, his arm got bit off by a crawler
That would be accurate.
Besides that...
- Reiner has to use his arms to fight the titans, thus exposing Bert and Elen (that's actually before Erwin's arm gets bit off).
- Mikasa attacks Bert but is surprised by another titan. Jean saves her by blinding said titan.
- As mentioned above, Armin gets eeeeevil and mentions Annie. Bert gets mad and calls them something like "demon spawn".
- Captain Hook attacks Bert and frees Elen (see spoiler pic), who's recovered by Mikasa.
- The good guys start retreating as Reiner and Ymir are still struggling with the swarm of titans.
- Connie catches Christa right after she helped Ymir against a titan. Ymir chases after them.
- Reiner is pissed and starts throwing titans around. Mikasa and Elen fall from their horse.
- The titan who ate Elen's mother approaches Elen and Mikasa. The episode ends there.

I've liked Erwin for a while but dude just shot straight up on my favorite character list in this chapter.

One of the great things about this series is that aside from Eren, the characters are actually intelligent. The flashback structure allows for the author to keep suspense while keeping the characters from having to make moronic decisions for the sake of the plot.

Shit got real, then realer, with this chapter. Goddamn.

Eren is going to ruin everything when he goes MAH ANGER again, though.

Erwin seems kind of insane, he's like Armin and Eren combined into one character. I wonder if we're ever going to get backstory on him.

Wow. What an awesome chapter, damn.

I wonder if
Bert is truly dead or if hell just transform and fuck shit up. Since injuries trigger the transformations, how do you really kill one of these transforming titans?

And holy shit at that titan at the end that killed Erens mother. Oh man. Hopefully this time Eren actually does something good and wins for once. Erwin is just badass (shame about his arm though), and Armin is slowly getting awesome. Now that means both of the strongest soldiers in humanity are injured :(

My guess would be him going Hulk mode, ripping that titan apart, which lets Reiner and Berthold recover and reach him before the Survey Corp can get him away.

Fucking Eren.

Good chapter, action packed

Still I'd rather have the story move forward and start explaining things for once. Can't have it all I guess

Oh well, maybe next month

Eren don't care about answers. He cares about killing all goddamn titans

Pretty sure
he is alive. You see him dangling holding onto his swords and steam from his chest meaning he is regenerating

With that explosion towards the end of the chapter when Reiner was tossing Titans, I actually thought it was Bert transforming too.

I'm probably wrong though.

On that note, I feel like that particular Titan showing up was random as hell but it got me thinking, could they actually be close to Eren's hometown after all that traveling? (I don't want to get my hopes up for this though.)

I like how Armin just goes, "I need to throw away more than my life so we can win, what can I do? ...Oh, I guess I'll just toss away my humanity." and then he turns into a stone cold motherfucker.

This chapter was really awesome. Shows that while really powerful, even experienced titan shifters still have their limits. Armin getting a taste of the psycho life. Mikasa learning that she isn't invincible.

So my theory as to why they want Erin is that Bert and Reiner might be born as shifters. And they know that the titans that the mindless titans were created as the result of bioengineering gone wrong. Now that they see a titan shifter that wasn't born naturally, they see that someone finally got the formula right.

Can't say this in the Anime thread for obvious reason: it's amazing how well he sets up the audience blindside at the end of the upcoming chapter. Going into the chapter/episode the audience has a set of expectations and then the series proceeds to flip the table on them. The flashback setup works for this series because it allows the audience to be kept "behind" the characters instead of out in front of them.

So the "Titan that ate mom" card was finally played. I'm guessing we'll get Eren failing in Titan form again next month?

And by God Erwin is insane.

Sigh. The manga just feels like we're in circling patterns right now. Also this manga defines anticlimatic. Eren randomly stumbles on the Titan that killed his mom.

Also the manga is starting to run into redshirt syndrome.

I'm guessing that Erin is going to get mad, try to transform, fail. Mikasa will try to save him, but something will go wrong. I don't know what though.

I think the only way we'll get to know anything is for Eren to actually get successfully kidnapped.

Also:
- Reiner = Bowser
- Mikasa = Mario
- Eren = Peach

So, like I said in the anime thread, I have no fucking self control and I decided to read volume 8 'cause I want to know what is going to happen next. Holy shit, with only 3 more episodes to go, what are the chances of a big cliffhanger ending for the first season of the anime? I'm kinda scared.

Cliffhanger? zero. There's a few good places to cut off at.
