Once a troll is always a troll.

Once a shill is always a shill.

Seriously. I sometimes wonder if within this new crop of juniors we have some part of MS' PR campaign to attempt to undo the damage from their DRM, etc. fiascos of late...

I feel that Sony have already nailed "seamless and fast" with Vita and Vita TV. Excuse the poor quality gif and camerawork but if they can do this on 2-3 year old handheld hardware then I am very much looking forward to what the PS4 is capable of.

Awesome gif, man.

On a side note. Blew my montly gaming budget ($150) with Sly 4, Puppeteer & Kingdom Hearts HD... I'm kicking myself knowing I need to wait till next month to get Killzone Mercs. =(

I thought most third parties said they would be developing for PC first then porting to PS4/Xbone

Yeah, I kind of expect the PC games to be 'shoe-horned' into the consoles...effectively turning off effects and turning down the resolution until they work then optimise from there.

This is why I always expected PS4 versions to have something over and above XBO (as they'd have to turn less off/down.

I hope this is true.

The only thing for me that is changing from last gen, is I would usually buy multiplatform on XBOX, and Exclusive (and Square) games on PS3. Now I will lead with PC, then PS4, then Xbone.

Probably canceling Xbox gold unless it becomes more like PS+

it will be true as long as cross platform titles are still a thing, which will probably be 2 years or so (I think activision or EA said this). This makes sense, as the market share for PS4 and Xbone simply won't justify them as lead platforms till then.

after that, cross platform (that being PS3,360,WiiU (lol), Xbone,PS4, and PC) will be dead, we'll be back to 3 platforms and whichever has the greatest marketshare will likely end up as lead.

End cycle games for ps3 look almost on Par with what is launching for ps4.

GT6, Last of Us as example.

Sorry, but compared to Killzone:SF, TLoU is just a jaggy low res mess. TLoU is beautiful for a PS3 game but the jump to the next generation provides a huge leap in terms of image quality.

I'll bite.

Articles like this are more or less pointless. You can't put a platform agnostic build onto any games console and expect it to just work.

By saying "platform agnostic"in this context they're basically saying they haven't used the esram. It's amazing that a game would run at 20 fps using just the DRAM on Xbox One.

Leaving a 200+ Gbps pool of memory untouched is a silly use case. No developer will ever ship a game without using that ESRAM. Comparing performance without it is a waste of time.

I think this is a good point. Don't know why everyone here has ignored it.

TLOU looks next gen besides the resolution and lack of AA...not even considering it will probably better than anything i've seen on PS4 let alone the xbone...

Damn. apparently I've been under utilizing my vita. Thing is a beast.

Vita tv is pretty well positioned IMHO.

And in Gamespot too. MS will have to respond now.

Not a chance that is going to happen. What are going to do? Lie about the whole thing or put their hands up in the air and say " you got us guys, our console is 50% weaker but Kinect is awesome"??

"Our contacts have told us that memory reads on PS4 are 40-50 per cent quicker than Xbox One, and its ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) is around 50 per cent faster. One basic example we were given suggested that without optimisation for either console, a platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but it’ll run at “20-something” FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One. “Xbox One is weaker and it’s a pain to use its ESRAM,” concluded one developer.

...

One source even suggested that enforcing parity across consoles could become a political issue between platform holders, developers and publishers. They said that it could damage perceptions of a cross platform title, not to mention Xbox One, if the PS4 version shipped with an obviously superior resolution and framerate; better to “castrate” the PS4 version and release near-identical games to avoid ruffling any feathers."

It certainly wasn't a problem with multiplatform titles taking advantage of the system's power, when the first Xbox was more powerful than the PS2. Seems like Microsoft is a sore tech loser. I'll personally think twice of buying a gimped product from those 3rd party developers, who succumb to such anti-competitive tactics. I wonder if Microsoft is using their monopoly on the PC side to leverage the matter, as most of those publishers are developing games for PC as well.

I think the real danger is traditional core Xbox fans(like me) sitting on the sidelines to see how things shake out over the first 3 months.

If multiplatforms are clearly better on PS4 my X1 purchase may be waiting a couple years for a price drop.

I'm actually moments from finally pulling the trigger and cancelling my XB1 pre-order on Amazon. I've been holding onto to it just in case, but now I feel very confident I'm going to be buying all the multiplat games on the PS4. So yeah, my XB1 owernship can wait til whenever I feel like I have to have it.

Because it's pretty much the same problem, the PS3 had. You also had the extra power of the cell, but to tap in, you had to really do something and optimize a game.

If the ESRAM of the XBox one is really that complicated to use and the 200+ is only a theoretical number, it may be at least be underused by most publishers as the cell was with the PS3.

Neither the ESRAM nor the power of the cloud are the game breakers and it maybe only make the difference a bit smaller.

Chance would be a fine thing, instead of claiming their console is as powerful and pretending the Kinect doesn't exist.

I'm glad they have improved the controller from the DS3. If PS4 is really that much more powerful, it will be easier to choose when it comes to multiplatform titles.

Their strategy to unveil nearly everything back at E3 has to be haunting them now. They don't have anything to distract people with now. They have a bunch of games like Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5, Quantum Break, Black Tusk's game, etc where they showed non gameplay trailers that people have heard nothing about since, and nothing new has been announced. Meanwhile Sony feels like they got an entire armory of bombs to drop starting next week at TGS, then VGAs after that. Truly a tortoise and hare story.

Based on this and other articles, it seems clear to me that the PS4 will have better graphics than Xbox One going into the next generation. And that’s fine.

But it also seems clear that Xbox One will have better everything else than PS4. Specifically, better audio, better multiplayer, better gameplay, and an all-around better gaming experience.

It will have better audio thanks to a dedicated APU (audio processing unit), better multiplayer and gameplay thanks to cloud-based AI, and an all-around better gaming experience thanks to the software architecture and Kinect.

Sony can have the “better graphics” bragging rights. I’m fine with having a better experience all-around, even if it means slightly inferior graphics.

Jeez... bish was not kidding.

I think this is a good point. Don't know why everyone here has ignored it.

The point is the esram requires more work.

More work = More dev time

More dev time = More chance things will be rushed just to get games out day and date with the PS4 version.

Will it happen often? Probably not. But as the PS3 showed, their will be some devs willing to cut corners.

At the end of the day xbone owners are just hoing to have to accept there will be a few bayonettas and Skyrims on the console during its lifetime, especially in the early years.

Lets not even start with kinect features and smartglass.

I want one - the TV overlay stuff really interests me. But MS have done nothing to actually explain how it works or whether it'll even work at all in the UK with my cable provider. I'm a crazy person that would spend £400 just for the media stuff (and perhaps Dead Rising 3). But I'm increasingly comfortable sitting back and watching things unfold until at least Spring next year.

If everything turns out like this and many have said MS really did not understand why the 360 did so much better then the ps3 in the US. Many people bought the 360 over the ps3 because it was cheaper and multiplatform games performed better most of the time (and that line of thinking stuck for pretty much every other MP game even a the ps3 version was exactly the same.)

Why? I'm not a PC elitist. I just don't see what makes people go crazy over DC.

over dc or over ps4 or xbox one...but wiiu its so awesome..im doing it right?

dont get me wrong..you can dislike DC ,no problem with that..but man..everytime i see your avatar on a next gen thread its the same thing

"Oh boy, they're discussing console specs again! Time to trivialize the entire conversation by bringing up PC mustard race again so I can massage my ego!"

the thing is coolwhip its no a pc player ( at least a prominent one) its a nintendo fan :p

This is all Microsofts fault for giving Kinect to much attention and time and too little priority on the Xbox itself. Now we have an obviously subpar console compared to Sony who played their cards correctly.

They shouldn't, just show the games. The differences isn't going to be noticed by most.

yup. the reactions get more press than the actual substance.

when it gets down to it, the difference between the two is probably going to be Gamecube/Xbox if that. Not really enough for anyone but the hardcore to care about.

MS pissing on fanboys and telling them it's raining is going to do MUCH more damage.

I don't think it's going to be like that. I think they'll have a list of targets that both platforms need to achieve. If the Xbox can't quite meet the target, the devs will spend the time to optimise it until it does reach that target.
Once they are both close then they'll release it.

I disagree, that's not what happened with PC the last few years. After they work a while with both they'll know the hardware and since one is considerably more powerful than the other they'll have different targets for each console. You're acting as if devs don't scale their engines or produce better graphics on different gaming platforms.

Yeah I am beginning to feel sorry for the guys to be honest, Sony really shook them up with their console strategy. Apparently in Ireland where I live, the the pre-orders are 4-1 in favour of ps4 according to a gamestop manger is was talking to. If this is any indication of mainland Europe they are in a bit of trouble
