To clear a question, does that mean Iwata is in control of Nintendo, or a relative of the Yamauchi bloodline is in charge?
His immense fortune will now pass to his daughter Yoko and his husband - Minoru Arakawa. I really wonder what will happen to Nintendo now.
Definitely the most important gaming figure who has yet died, by a LONG shot. This death'll probably be eclipsed by Miyamoto's, but not by many others.
Rest in peace, guy. You were pretty rad.

Thank you Mr. Yamauchi for your part in making my childhood extremely memorable. Rest in peace.
Yamauchi married Michiko Inaba and they had their first child, a girl named Yoko, in 1950. It wasn't until seven years later they had another child, a daughter named Fujiko followed by a son called Katsuhito.

This is the man who hired Shigeru Miyamoto..who gave him a shot at making arcade games.
RIP, Yamauchi-san, you left your fortune in the hands of fate and fate was kind..

This is video game equivalent of an American Founding Father dying. It's surreal to think that we are reaching that point in time where the original pioneers of video games are starting to pass away due to natural causes/old age. Yamauchi was fairly old already when he started in the video game industry, but it's sad to see the original businessmen/women and designers of an entire medium beginning to leave this world.
We truly are coming to the end of era; but like a Founding Father, what Yamauchi built is so structurally sound that it will survive beyond any of us. There are few higher honors than that. RIP Yamauchi-san.
