Forza 5 - Bathurst circuit debut

Forza branded Gunnar Optiks incoming...

It seems that the sun is an ongoing complaint, at least here on Gaf, so a pair of Thrustmaster X81 "Retro shadeZ" bundled with the game would be the ideal solution.

Seriously though, with no rain or night, being blinded by a ball of hydrogen is probably the next best thing in terms of a challenge...

Liverpool Studios takes that crown. Time Trials in F1CE for PS3 were literally undrivable because of the sun setting. Rest of the game was pretty much perfect though.

Exactly. If I were racing a real car at that time of day I'd be using a smoked windscreen or helmet visor or have a sun strip on the windshield. Glare wouldn't be allowed to become an issue.

Which is odd, since it's somehow still a constant challenge for real-world race drivers. They must not have ever thought of it. You should write a letter.

Posting again for new page. I'm curious about this.

There haven't been any press releases announcing it, so I'd assume not. It's launching Nov. 22, so this would be pretty early for it to be happening with what we've heard about the optimizing and beta-testing going on now.

I only just bought that a month or two ago. Sounds like you've thrown down the gauntlet ;)

Yes, mid to late October would be very likely with the game releasing November 22nd.

Also important factor will be the schedules for the BluRay mastering. I have no idea in which factories will MS produce and master their BR discs, but given the relase schedules for late October and November for this-gen games (for PS3 of course) and lauching 2 BR nextgen consoles within same timeframe...

...mastering schedule will be an issue, I can tell you that.

It is one of the reasons I believe that is mainly responsible for both announced "day 1" patches: FM5 and GT6. I believe that Golds for both have to be submitted very early because of the crazy scheduling for the BR factories in Q4.

COD:G, AC4, BF4, WD, NFS.. probably more then 30 million BRs have to be mastered for those multi-platform and multi-gen titles alone.

All're on the tight schedule there.

Between this and the Killzone:SF demo from TGS, I think developers are trying to blind us these days lol.

I don't like it. That, and chromatic abrogation both suck ass. Keep that shit out of next gen.

If these devs want to "simulate" real life sunlight, don't add the lens flare (at least KZ doesn't add it) and what happened to HDR? You know.. the eye simulating the contracting and dilation of the eye? It's like devs forgot about it. Well, not all... but most.

People should look at GTAV's lighting and use of lens effects. It's there but doesn't feel forced.

Expecting Prague, some overrated beige dust bowl and buzzwords. Lots of buzzwords.

Anything else will be a bonus.

If nothing new is divulged on the media front, then I demand that the buzzwords be new.

"Vehicular Coupling"

"Emotion Of Motion"

"Molecular Synthesis Defined"

"There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee -- that says, fool me once, shame on --shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."

One thing that you know won't be addressed is Fanatec compatibility. So let me say in advance- Fuck you, Microsoft.

I would not expect too much from Eurogamer Expo to be honest - in terms of new information or footage. I mean their dev sessions are nice and interesting (there is a Playground games one, even) but it's not an announcement show if I would have to guess.

I do agree that the blinding sun needs to be toned down though, It's gonna get really annoying in the game because you'll encounter it over and over and over again.

Well, I truly hope we can get some definitive numbers in a few areas come Thursday. And some awesome MUSTANG footage.

And since Turn10 has seriously continued to drop the ball when it comes to customer loyalty...

I hope they can at least keep in mind that Forza faithfuls are expecting SOMETHING for staying tried and true throughout the series. Dropping 600 bucks day one for a content downgrade isn't exactly easy to swallow.

Here is their customer loyalty: https://rewards.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/

It's pretty good.

Well its great to see all the FUD being spread about a downgrade has taken hold of some. Its your own fault Turn10.

How is it their fault that people took a Gamescom demo played on a bad TV at TGS and automatically assumed it was a downgrade from the E3 demo?

They came out, Albert Penello, and said clearly that it is the same demo as Gamescom.

Give me a break, it's the fault of a paranoid community looking for more reasons to hate a product.

They've only had two demos, the E3 demo and the Gamescom demo and we know that the Gamescom demo is a improvement over the E3 demo.

Best way to silence negativity or concern on that front is to simply release some new direct feed footage, then people can judge for themselves.

It's their TV setup, it was their responsibility to calibrate it properly or exchange the TV for a better model. Instead they took a loan device from the BestBuy showroom with them?

Again, it's something so small and simple that could've been easily avoided. In the end it just comes over as lazy, because "it's just Japan, they hate us, why put any effort in our booth".

Yeah how in the world could people be mistrusting of MS after all of the goodwill they have stored up the last few months?

gamescom tvs were bad, too.
thats an issue 90% of the exhibitor seem not to care about.
or the tvs they get from the hosts just arent capable to do any better.

How is this dumb shit? Lots of Forza tracks have different times of day (Morning, Day, Sunset). Christ, you are getting worse.

I was wrongfully banned before for asking a legitimate question. But overly-sensitive Forza fans have a fetish for reporting anyone who asks a question that might have a negative answer. (In a twist, it turned out that the statement that got me banned turned out to be true. Go figure). (And why do I get the feeling it was you that wrongfully reported me)

Forza fans really need to do some growing up and accept that not every question is an "Attack". It's getting pathetic now. I'M A FUCKING FAN OF THE SERIES. GET. IT. IN. YOUR. HEAD.

I still don't get it. Why did a mod ban you for asking a question about the lighting? I had no idea that such things were bannable.

well, they could release some direct feed to silence those rumors...

For example, I have no idea how they allowed that twitch direct feed showing obvious, rather huge color and scaling issues with the stream that made the game look like it was running in 240p and didn't bother releasing proper footage to show that was not what the game actually looked like.

Oh well, new stuff in 29 or so hours :D
