Destiny Beta will be available in early 2014 (PS4, PS3, XONE, 360)

I will join the beta IF there is a competitive multiplayer component in the download. This is for two reasons:

1. I would like to enjoy the world of Destiny with my friends, at launch, with a fresh slate.

2. I have been needing my competitive Sci-fi shooter fix since Halo: ODST released, everything post-ODST does not scratch that itch.

A very streamlined process. Took me about 3 minutes to go from PS4 pre-order on Amazon to completing the process at Bungie.net. Looking forward to this beta a lot.

I pre-ordered the PS4 version. I'm still not 100% getting that platform, but it's the one I'm leaning toward. So having the Destiny beta code be platform agnostic for now is pretty great.

I have this pre-ordered for PS4 but I've never been a beta type of guy. I always just wait for the game to be released so I can hope in 100% fresh. If I end up getting a code I'll give it to someone here.

I'm sure people have figured this out by now, but if you pre-order from Amazon, they send you a beta code immediately. You can then just cancel your pre-order.

I think this is kind of bullshit because Destiny is the type of game I would just go digital with but there's no way to get into the beta without doing a pre order for a physical version is there? Gonna go preorder from Gamestop tomorrow and hope they have codes available.

Not everyone links to Bungie.net, nor are achievements online only. There's probably lots of people who have campaign achievements without ever having played multiplayer. Plus, Bungie isn't even in charge of Halo and hasn't been for at least 2 years now. Anyone who's bought Reach or 3 now, won't ever have stats on Bungie.net, but with your XBL profile, since it's transferable to next gen Xbox One as well, they can just see your gamertag/past games and achievements.

If I'm being dense, you're just acting fanboyish. I get it, you like Bungie, I like them too. But we know next to nothing about any of the versions, aside from a quip on stage when they first showed it months ago saying PlayStation 4 will get exclusive content. Is it maps? Missions? Guns? Characters? Does Xbox One get its own content? Can you tell me? No. So wtf man. Take it easy. No need to be abrasive, just like you were when I questioned why Staten would leave Bungie.

Destiny started direct development in 2009, pretty sure 360 was the lead platform for many years before next gen devkits came around and they refocused on ps4.

Yeah yeah yeah. There seems to be at least 1 AAA game a quarter I want. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep up this time around since I have a job this generation around.

But they've specifically said that at this time, it's only about physical pre-orders. Just sucks because there's one less beta code for someone wherever you pre-ordered from.

I doubt they're limited. Amazon have added it to their box art for the game.

I meant in the sense, like if you went to a certain Gamestop store that only got like 50 codes for pre-orders. I'm pretty sure they'll get more if needed, doesn't seem like they'd be hurting anytime soon either. So no big deal was only curious.

I used Amazon, yeah. Who knows, there's always a chance I will actually buy it from Amazon eventually, if it's like £60 on PSN, and £35 on Amazon, I'm not paying the extra just for the convenience of having it on the HDD.

Preorders, and predownloads are something the first parties are really going to have to make a head way with this coming generation.

Pre-order from Amazon. Get the code 10 seconds later, cancel the order. Play the beta, then buy a digital version of the game.

The game's so far off I think it's simply a matter of not having anything ready digitally yet. Doubly so for next gen consoles, where the closest you get to pre-ordering is some cross gen games you'd pay to upgrade and maybe their DLC.

finally dusted off my psn account and synched it with my bungie account to put my beta placeholder code in.

i wanna go into destiny fresh, but i know when the time comes i won't be strong, so beta me up.

Okay, when they talk about rewarding players for previous games, there is a 99.99% chance that will be executed through Bungie.net data. They're not going to write custom game code to read a 360 profile and grab offline achievements to unlock shit, mostly because that's easily spoofed. I mean, it's a real, out-of-the-blue, fucking long-shot, and you know you're stretching to the max to cite it as some kind of counterpoint. If I'm being abrasive, it's because you, being an active and knowledgeable community member, should know better, and when you write a piece of wild speculation about Staten's departure with a horribly negative slant and outright falsehoods, me being abrasive is me being nice.

Harold Ryan stated that the PlayStation community is getting exclusive PLAYABLE content. It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume this means maps, missions, raids, guns, et cetera. It would also not be unreasonable to assume Microsoft is not getting this content, or at best, not getting it until some time later (a la Call of Duty).

Bungie, Activision, and the surrounding circumstances should be making it clear to everyone (with a finger on the pulse of the industry) that Destiny on PS4 will be the the version that is both the most technically advanced and content-rich. That is my analysis, and that's why this Bungie Halo fan that bought 3 Xbox consoles and 7 Xbox 360 consoles is buying a PS4 at launch and is going to play Destiny on PS4. Please join us and free yourself from Microsoft's grip.

Over the summer Bungie have done some promotional trading card things to hand out at the games conferences

There were original 5 but another three have appeared over the last week.

You enter these at the same place you put your beta code.

Nobody knows what exactly they are for but they will be unlocking something in the game when it releases.
