If you never got to play it, BF2142 had the XM25 in a different form. It was the assault class grenade launcher. It's nice to have it back because it was great in 2142 for taking out people behind cover and on top of buildings.

Talking about grenades: still no option for cooking, right?

Nice OT. And thanks for the link to the blog post about system upgrades. It's funny, when the game was announced, I didn't even care about it despite being a fan of the franchise. Come E3, seeing that tower fall changed everything. But over the past few months, Shadow Fall has gotten my interest. Now I don't know whether to get both or just Shadow Fall.

I went to one of the CoD world tour events for a free copy of that game, so I would technically have 3 FPS on the PS4. That's overkill. I like all three franchises but...cmon now. Anybody else in a similar predicament? You buying just one FPS game or multiple?
FPS is my favorite genre. The more the merrier, IMO. Gonna sink my teeth into all three at launch.

I'm planning to buy The game on PSN.. (then buy The game for ps4 digitally... My only concern is..will The HD texture pack on the PSN version be "baked in" in The download?

I was a huge fan of Bad Company 2 and played the multi for a long ass time and I just didn't like BF3, how would I like the next gen version? My wife dropped the bomb on me that we can get a ps4, so now I am interested! Was not going to brother with current gen.

My PC is ready. Since the beta ended has been watching bf4 videos on youtube to keep the hype at max.

I watched videos almost every day from the start of the beta... didn't get the chance to play it. I'm so looking forward to this. My last BF game was 1942.

Wow what a blast from the past looking at that list. We'll have to harass Abu on steam lol. I do wish crak (and many others) from that list would return though, he was cool.

Hopefully there will be tougher competition this time, I remember times when like 2 of us would enter super lop sided matches and completely change the outcome. Never mind 8+ gaffers, at that point we would just toy with the other team.
I might return. I wonder what platform. Since I'm back in school I have less time. If you all are getting it on PS4 I'll get it on that instead of PC. I do miss playing with you guys. I don't really own a PS3 anymore since my old one broke, but I'll be getting a PS4 and I have a good PC Rig.

I wonder hows JM been. He was my VIP squadmate.

Playing 3 after the beta for 4 is a terrible experience. 0/10 would not play again. 4 just feels like the better game in pretty much every respect.

Boo. Oh well. Still better than if I had chosen to get a PS4 instead of a good PC! :)

Anybody planning on going through single-player first?

Yep, I will. I finished the single-player twice and co-op also in BF3 before I started with multiplayer.

No, but there is a grenade in the game that explodes on impact.

Yup, heard that. Still, I find it pretty strange. Could have tied it to "equipping" the grenade.

what do you mean "still". Cooking has been available in all Battlefield games. Was available in the beta too.

protip: hold fire when throwing.

Not that I remember. Unless you mean "equipping" the grenade, but it only makes the throwing faster, doesn't actually cook it.

EDIT: all that refer to consoles. Played BF2 on PC very briefly a LONG time ago, so don't know if there's extra options for control over grenade toss on PC.

Some guys over at overclock.net did some testing with Intel's CPU's with HT (Hyper Threading) with results with HT on and off. Looks like those of us with i7's (Me =3770k@4.4ghz) made a wise choice in ignoring the slew of peeps saying it was a waste of money, yada, yada, yada and so on. ...just about everyone just 8 months to 12 months ago even to this day actually were saying getting a 3770k/4770k over a 3570k/4570k was/is a huge waste of money...my personal argument was "next gen" games "might" just make good use of those extra threads so i ignored all the hasty opinions and bought myself a 3770k 8 months ago...low and behold, seems if this trend continues the "extra threads" will indeed be worth that extra bit of cash....peep the info below....i am soooo happy i went with my own opinion instead of going by the he said/she said drama about the i5s vs i7s

From Overclockers.net - here is a direct link to this overlockers.net thread here http://www.overclock.net/t/1433904/...-with-ht-enabled-vs-disabled-on-battlefield-4

Now with some data:
PART 2 - Hyper threading vs non-hyper threading

This was quite simple to do and the reason I did it was because I was asked to try and see if those extra 4 threads made any difference.
To simply disable HT - I went into the BIOS and disabled HT on my I7 3770k - thus effectively rendering it an I5 3570k at heart - as pretty much the only difference between the two CPU's, those extra 4 threads.

NOTE: GPU before starting and within the game HT is ON: Huge dips is me ALT+TABing
Before:

Again, All the benchmarks here http://www.overclock.net/t/1433904/...-with-ht-enabled-vs-disabled-on-battlefield-4 and below are just a few samples of the OP's results at overclockers.net

With HT ENABLED:

With HT DISABLED:

WINDOWS 7 vs WINDOWS 8
Another nitpick of mine are all the Windows 8 haters..again..everyone saying Windows 8 was garbage for gaming, etc, etc even before next gen games started to come out...well look below..seems Windows 8 IS INDEED BETTER than Windows 7 in terms of newer upcoming games..and yet again i ignored all the blatant opinions on Windows 8 in which a TON of people were saying avoid it like a plague,etc...my gut feeling was telling me Windows 8 would more than likely benefit with next gen games..and from the testing thus far it will!....And again...soooo happy i went with my own opinion instead of going by the he said/she said drama about Win 8 being junk for gaming.

Awww yeaaah! So close!
I'm gonna pick up the PS4 version. I'll buy it on the 12th so I can look at it and smell it for 3 days while I wait for my PS4.

Will be my first Battlefield on PlayStation, too. Played BF2:MC on Xbox and Xbox 360, and BC1, BC2, BF3 on 360. Please be awesome for first-person shooters, Dualshock 4.

i've been playing on the PS3. Toss grenade with left trigger, quickly press and hold R1 to cook it. Release R1 to let it fly.
