I just had a solid Sin & Punishment 2 sitting.

The game runs flawlessly compared to the last time I tried it (during 3.0 or 3.5).

No framerate dips, 4K res, pure shmup goodness, fuck that was fun.

I find that I get slowdowns even when it states 100% speed.

Would you mind posting your setting please?

Specs:

Intel i5 2500K OC@4.5Ghz
Geforce GTX480

Settings:
Direct3D9
res: 4X native, no AA
Audio: HLE

Hell, I even used v-sync and everything was smooth, but my GTX480 was noisy as fuck, begging for an upgrade so that I can stop torturing it. So I turned up the volume. :)

i tried this and it works great, however the skyward sword map rendering issue remains. dunno if anyone has notice this but it was present in the previous 3.0 builds. if you bring up the map at the start of the game inside links house, you will see the different levels of the house are all layered on top of one another and this can make finding chests and stuff hard. you cant tell the levels apart, so imagine inside a dungeon!

does any know what im talking about :)

This is such a dumb question, and I'm sorry for asking it. I can't find an answer.

So I've got WW up and running, but it's obviously a 4:3 game. Is there any way to get it to run in widescreen without looking really stretched?

I realize the answer is probably "nah" but I thought I'd ask anyways. I tried forcing it to 16:9 and enabling widescreen hack but it looks pretty distorted.

The widescreen hack makes it true widescreen. Either you're doing something wrong or your eyes are deceiving you.

Right click Wind Waker and select properties.

Head over to "AR codes" and add a new code.

Name it "16:9 Fix"

For the actual code input this

Code:
D3MC-RD04-JACXK
G1N3-CXH2-TMF6K

Disable widescreen hack in the graphics settings and set the aspect ratio to "Force 16:9" or if you'd prefer, stretch to fit.

This way works better than the above suggested method because pop-in is no longer an issue since it is actually rendering at the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Trying to play Resident Evil 4 and the audio keeps crackling. Running out of ideas.

Here are my specs:

i7 @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs)
8 gig RAM
GeForce GTX 560 Ti (2506 MB)

Here are my settings for Dolphin:

[Config ]

Enable Dual Core
Enable Idle Skipping
Framelimit: 30
Limit by FPS

JITIL experimental recompiler
DSP HLE emulation
XAudio2

[Graphics]
OpenGL
Fullscreen resolution: Auto
Aspect Ratio: Auto
Use Fullscreen

Show FPS
Hide Mouse Cursor

Internal Resolution: Auto (Window Size)
Anti-Aliasing: None
Anisotrophic Filtering: 1x
Scaled EFB Copy

Skip EFB Access from CPU
EFB Copies -- RAM
External Frame Buffer -- Disable
Fast Depth Calculation

My video card is up-to-date and I have tried editing the config ini file for RE4. I'm at chapter 2-1 (cabin fight) and the game runs at 21fps on average which I wouldn't mind too much if the audio weren't unbearable. Please help? :(
I am interested in an answer too. Do we have a configuration file for Resi 4 Wii Edition ? I can't wait to lay a finger or two on it.

I decided to give 4.0 a shot this morning but it's performing worse than 3.5. I noticed there's no way to select DX9 in the graphics tab which was gave me better performance in 3.5. Is this no longer an option in 4.0?

- Edit - whoops. I was trying to do it in game. I'm still not getting as good as performance though. I've only tried DKCR and Other M so far.

Are you using 4.0 or a development version? 4.0 still has support for the DX9 backend (although it's marked as deprecated) while it's been taken out of the latest development builds altogether.

Question: Where are you guys getting your games? Are you using the discs that you have and somehow ripping them to your computer?

I7 930 2.8ghz (plan to overclock after I can afford a nicer heatsink)
16gb of ram
GTX 570

I could run Mario Galaxy 2, Rhythm Heaven, and Epic Yarn just fine. Now, they all run choppy and slow.

Umm...I found out what happened. Even after overclocking to 4ghz, my frame rates were still garbage...so I did a bit of research.

My frame rate limit was set at 20. Oops.

Now everything that I've tested runs pretty much flawlessly

Yiss. I use Cleanrip via the HBC to backup my games to an external hdd which I then transfer over to my main hdd.

I'm certain there are other ways besides this one to backup a game legally but this method is what I use.

edit: beaten

I've got 4.0, but it's still running a lot slower than 3.5 with every game I've tested. I've had to change the graphics API to Open GL for every game and even then, the audio and game stutters quite. 3.5 is damn near flawless for me. The only game I had trouble with in 3.5 was DKCR and that was just audio glitches. I guess I'll just stick with that. I'm curious why I'm having such issues though.

Got two questions! Any help appreciated!

1. Did they fix the audio and the pointer glitch for SMG2 in Dolphin 4.0? If not, how do I fix it?

2. I used to use Dolphin on my Mac, now I'm using my Windows bootcamp. Where are the Wii save files located on a mac? I can't seem to find them.

Dolphin 4.0.1 is now out.

Download: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/

After a somewhat large delay we're releasing a 4.0.1 release with single core crashes fixed and some other bugfixes.

Changes:

Fixed single core mode crashes in 64 bit Windows builds
Fixed missing music in Super Monkey Ball 2
Added missing DirectX runtime installer files
Fixed some graphics issues for Metroid: Other M, Skies of Arcadia and Call of Duty: Black Ops
Fixed various other minor issues

At the time of writing we only have compiled Windows builds. OS X and Linux users will have to compile the source themselves (stable branch, 4.0.1 tag) or stay with their current build. The Windows installers can be grabbed from our downloads page: https://dolphin-emu.org/download/

Note that Windows users should uninstall Dolphin 4.0 before installing the update due to some changes to the installer. All future Dolphin versions will be installed into "Program Files/Dolphin" now, whereas the 4.0 release still used "Program Files/Dolphin 4.0".

Is there a way to remove copy flags from wi-fi protected saves with Dolphin? I backed up my Mario Kart Wii save from my Wii, but my Wii U won't let me transfer the save from the SD card no matter what, and I don't want to do a system transfer because I'd like to keep my Shop Channel account on the Wii.

Even with the latest version the audio is cracking slightly while playing Xenoblade. Any fix for this? I have an i7 so it's not a specs issue.
What sound method are you using?

Mind you LLE and HLE both worked for me if I recall, so I don't know why either wouldn't work.

Maybe backup the NAND on the wii? Do a systrm transfer then restore the NAND on your wii. That's what I did and now my wii and wii u both have duplicates of the same saves. As an extra bonus I was able to load up my NAND on dolphin too which transferred all of my saves to my PC too.

I don't understand. I had an older revision of dolphin where everything works brilliantly, yet on this one it's all gone to shit. Timesplitters 2 used to be smooth as silk, now it's a laggy mess.

I have an i7 core at 3.9ghz, 8gb RAM and a Radeon 6870. And it worked fine before on this set up. I've got all the same settings enabled too.

If I do that all my purchases will be wiped out as soon as I access the Wii Shop Channel on my Wii since the account was transferred to Wii U. I thought it would be somehow possible with Dolphin since I saw an “Export Save” option when right-clicking on a game (though it was still copy-locked).

I have a question - How come PCSX2 manages to remove 30 fps frame limit from many games where as you're stuck with whatever frame rate is default in dolphin?

I have a decent spec (i5 4430, 5770) that runs everything just fine. But there's a small but noticeable audio delay in all games I've tested, both Wii and GC, that I can't get rid of - in fact I just managed to make it worse by using the other audio options.

Is it just me? Or should I get used to it?

Using LLE emulation? ie. with dumped DSP roms from your Wii?

Um, because it doesn't? The only way to improve a game's framerate from 30 to 60 is by hacking the memory address that tells the game to limit the fps to 30. The only games I know of where this is possible are the Kingdom Hearts games.

I think you're getting confused by the fact that PCSX2 and Dolphin performance is reported differently. Dolphin displays the actual framerate, while PCSX2 displays the refresh rate. So on PCSX2, just because it says 60, that doesn't mean the game is actually running at 60 frames per second. It just means that the emulator is running at full speed.

Noticed the same performance loss in trying Dolphin 4.0.

Sticking to 3.5 for sure.

Average:

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 6000+
GPU: ATI HD3650

Good:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955
GPU: Nvidia 8800GT

Excellent:

CPU: Intel i5-2500k
GPU: AMD HD6850

And 2 GB RAM.

Let's be honest, you won't run anything outside Muramasa at full speed with the min requeriments.

if you want all the bells and whistles, nice resolution and AA, I'd say go for a i5-2500k at least.

Can anyone post their Mario Galaxy settings they run at to get it to run good? My game runs good but randomly freezes.

I would be very grateful if someone could assist me with the following problems:

1. Is there an easy way to make backup copies from my Wii without permanently modifying the system? I don't particularly want to keep it soft modded but also don't really want to pirate copies of games I already own...

2. Is there any way of overriding RE4's refusal to start without a nunchuk? It's such a small issue but really annoying that I have to do it every time I start up.

The Motorcycle That Wouldn't Slow Down
1. There's a homebrew app that will rip disc images to SD/USB and you can then copy them to a computer.

2. Don't know, maybe an AR code or some other hack?

Will any bluetooth adapter that works on PC allow me to using my Wii mote/sensor?

Here's a list I found that helped me pick one out a few weeks ago: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_Working_Bluetooth_Devices

I had gone to Best Buy about a year ago for a bluetooth dongle and they only sell their house brand one (Rocketfish I think), and I had to download some Toshiba trial drivers to get it to work. They would expire every month and were a pain to install so I finally went out and got another one at a Frys that worked. (I actually bought 2 just in case and returned the one I didn't need).

The one I got is a little picky about how to sync the remote up. You have to have Dolphin open and hit "Refresh" on the Wii Remote menu, THEN connect the Remote to my PC. You'll feel it rumble when it pairs properly.

Thanks for the reply. Any suggestions as to what to use? Ideally I'd like to install Homebrew Channel and rip my Wii and GC discs and then restore it back to normal. Just want to completely kiddy-proof the thing so it can't be accidentally updated / screwed up somehow!

I bought one without paying much attention and it worked. I must say though, I need to synchronize my wiimote at least ten times before I get it hooked to the PC. Don't know if it has anything to do with the dongle quality.

In other news, I really regret to have bought that i3-2100 instead of an i5-2500K.
