Plenty of developers and gaming press are online (his video showed hundreds) - a few retail consumers seeing things isn't going to compromise anything.
Most are probably MS employees who have been using it since the beta started months ago.

It's people like these that MS needs to worry about. The first banned guy was a hardcore XBox fan, and knew he might get taken offline (or at least, he was warned it would happen). He's not going anywhere. The father and son team has posted 2 more videos

Yes? In what way is this a response to me?
The guy I responded to seemed to think they found out who should have access to the consoles by spying on them with the help of NSA through the Kinect camera and I called out his bullshit.
EDIT: I see it was targeted at the guy that I quoted.
so lets say WoWs new expansion is supposed to be released on may25 but you somehow get the disc on the 20th would you show this same uproar then? The game ain't gona be live even though you already have your copy.

But the father and son seemed confused as to why they got the banned message. And there was 200+ consoles sent out early? I suspect most of them will try to connect (who wouldn't) and see the banned message. MS needs to change that message ASAP.
FYI - I have no problem MS denying Live service until the 22nd, just the way they're informing their customers that things aren't quite ready yet.
Wouldn't it have made more sense to have screen saying "this console can't go online until x date" instead of "this console is banned".
Its great that an MS person told Engadget that this is a temp thing, but how is average Joe/Johanna meant to know this when they get a console early and get hit with a "this console is banned" message.

He's been in the industry a lot longer than six months, if you want to try to get a good idea of his character.Major Nelson kind of turned me off how he did Joe in the interview at E3 but he is winning a little of my respect back.
Whoa, I wasn't attacking you - I was trying to add to your list saying MS had an update on who was getting banned
Nothing about the NSA
that's pretty awesome on Majors part.
he gets a +1 from me.
I bet you are a blast to hang out with.No issues with ban. Rather angry nerds that live in delusion be mad than angry delusional nerds over react to a potential prerelease bug.
I was trying to be diplomatic, to be nice.
You're not going to push me into saying anything MS did here is at all fair or right. It was still complete and utter BS and again they are trying to retroactively spin it.

Couldn't they just say access blocked to Live until launch? Just being a bit more clear would have solved a lot. The vague console ban message is just so silly in this case.
They can just use the power brick as a coffee table, cause goddamn.
Yeah, if there one main thing Major could do, its get the message adjusted.they probably were not ready for this. This is the baked system message.

If I spent a billion on R&D, Marketing, and Production and my online services were not quite ready. No way would I allow a guy you tubing everything get ahead of my main marketing, if something goes wrong it may go viral.

Except in this case XBL was live and apparently functional.
Yeah probably. Is is that hard to change, at least to make people not worried they paid $500 for nothing.they probably were not ready for this. This is the baked system message.
- Spend billions of dollars on launch and not have a plan for inevitable early access. Check!
- Remove any unboxing videos from Youtube that aren't officially approved unboxing video. Check!
- Ban, then blame customer... better yet insult them. Check!
If you're trying to make Microsoft look good in comparison to what you'd do, you're, uh... actually you did. Kudos.

Microsoft didn't, Leewan did. (see what I was quoting).Maybe I've missed something, but how did they insult him?
"Xbox Live will be available November 22nd. Please try again later, and enjoy Xbox One!"
Nice and easy.
the fuck??Argh, I'm a little frustrated that he let Microsoft get to him.

It makes it even more messed up in my opinion. It's basically banning someone to keep them quiet about live as a precaution so that nothing negative can be said (if any can be).
Microsoft didn't, Leewan did. (see what I was quoting).
