Crimson Dragon (Xbox One) Reviews Thread

Calling CS a spiritual successor is an insult to Panzer Dragoon. Team Andromeda created an amazing world that with its own unique language, and architecture.

This looks like a dragon flying around a boring generic world.

Damn, this was one of the games I really wanted to play.

Ps..Not that I particularly care, but I don't want you to get in trouble OP, isn't spoiler tagging the score frowned upon?

Wow, this was another originally 360 title? The whole opening paragraph doesn‘t bode well for Ryse, maybe even DR3.

Though Crimson Dragon has a slight next gen aesthetic, the controls are unintuitive and sluggish – proving that you can’t change the recipe after you’ve started cooking.

Yes.

Not that it matters at all.

Actually it does matter. If Ryse has repetitive gameplay I'll buy it at a discount. If this game gets 6-7s across the board....@ $20 I'll consider it if I'm bored or interested.

There's a reason Steam has sales throughout the year. $20 or less and people buy the crap out of games...even if they're mediocre.

The live streams I have watched the game looks fun, want to give it a try anyway only because I love Panzer Dragoon so much.

that kind of sucks... I am expecting (and sadistically hoping for) bad reviews for Ryse and DR.. but this was always one of the games I was looking forward to if/when I get an XBONE. Still have my copy of Orta even though I don't even have a system to play it on anymore... :(

Still wish I knew someone who was getting an XBONE. Really want to give this a shot.

hmmm move with left stick aim with right... thats like every shooter ever made since dual shock.

unless the reviewer means the controls just feel like ass.

It's an on-rail shooter that was originally a Kinect-only game.

But music sucks? Oh damn it...

This is still on my list of 'must-have XB1' exclusives, damn it! /denial

You control your dragon with the left analog stick and your aiming reticule with the right stick, which takes a bit of getting used to
Oh man. I was hoping that the left analog would be unified movement/aiming like Panzer Dragoon!

I wonder how much the entire Kinect-only nonsense from the beginning affected the level design. You just cannot have the same kind of action, speed and precision with hand motions, and from the article it sounds like they didn't manage to retool the game properly for analog controls.

Let's hope Futatsugi keeps making games though. Commercial failure is a given, but if it's a critical stinker as well? Can't imagine Microsoft wanting to give him more money in such a case.

Edit: Microtransaction bullshit as well? Goddamn.

I don't get why anyone takes this review so seriously, when there are hours of stream gameplay that do a much better job showing off the game than a few paragraphs.

The reviewer didn't touch on the elemental affinities at all, nor the different dragon types. It sounds like he played though with the default type, didn't pay attention to maximizing his score or effectiveness at all, and fell on the old "repetitive" standby.

Just seems kinda mediocre, and "lets push this to the side, so we can get to the big retail offerings!". XBL might just see games as games now, but it seems review outlets still have an underlying way of playing favorites and putting some above others... bleh.

With a game like this, I'll mostly be intrigued with how is fares with other PDO fans. It was one of my favourite Xbox games by far.

OK then.

Did you read the review. The guy said he was a massive fan. Said he went back to the old games to see if nostalgia had clouded his vision, but went as far as saying he had more fun in the first stages of those games then the entirety of crimson dragon.

Surprised and sad to hear about the repetitive envoironments, one of the things I really loved about panzer was its unique styles of architecture and fantastic atmosphere

Saw this one coming... it's such a shame. I loved Orta but from the footage I've seen this one doesn't have that magic, and Kinect is a huge turnoff.

The game looked pretty bad IMO. However, I expected reviewers to be more favorable. Still not coming in as bad as lococycle.
