Persona 5 - First details from Dengeki

That's pretty cool. So even if we don't get a new Endurance Run, at least they didn't let people bothering them make the series less enjoyable. Glad to know he's excited about it.

Jeff is also the one who posted all the Persona Announcement trailers on the GB page. So that says something if posted by: _____ is anything to go by.

I'm perfectly okay with another high school setting. The vibe I got from the initial teaser is exactly what I was hoping for as well. Can't wait to see the cast.

They'll discuss how dumb and awesome P4D is going to be, guaranteed.

Seriously, for all we know GiantBomb designed that game.

If it's even half as good as the equally absurd yet highly entertaining Ouendan/Elite Beat Agent games then we're in for a treat, lol.

So Naoto spends Christmas Eve alone with the MC and The watch reads: "Distance: < 1m"...

What do you think they were doing all night?

Um...cuddling?

And she says she left her sock at your house. Undressing? Hmmm, I wonder what that could imply...

I don't sleep with my socks on.

But really, I can see where you guys are coming from. I guess there just wasn't enough innuendo for me to get the vibe that anything serious happened.

High school again...

Amen to that.
... I don't understand the people that are celebrating that it isn't college. Not even a little bit.

New details from Dengeki apparently.

- Persona 5 started development after Catherine’s ended in August 2011.

- At that time they wanted to develop it for the mobile. (I think here he means portables (Vita/PSP) than mobile phone.)

- However, they realised that majority of the fans/players wanted HD, so they decided on developing it for HD machines (aka PS3) instead.

- There is a hint hidden in the 5 chairs and chains.

- They are aware that a lot of people are hoping that Persona 5 can be released on the next generation machines (AKA PS4), however they have very limited development resources and are unable to do it.

- The specs for PS4 are wonderful.

- There will be more information for P5, at the start of next year.

Atlus, this is the final insult. After you killed any semblance of maturity present in the series with Arena--you proceed to spit on the franchies corpse with Persona 4 Golden. Now, with your final chance to restore the dark themes present in the eariler games--you blew it. High school automatically begets adolescent nonsense. College is where mature people go, if any of the staff at Atlus had actually gone to college you'd know that.

Look to Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, Atlus. Lucas went with a grim, dark, and dare I say: mature story--it paid off tenfold. It was the most mature chapter in the saga--which led to the most quality entry in the series. Dark themes = maturity = quality. Do you understand this, Atlus? Maturity is what we wanted, now that's all out the window. The High School setting again is the kiss of death for this franchise.

Sleep well, true Persona. This series is dead.

If the story and character's are good, and the dungeons and mechanics are improved, I don't really care if the setting is the same. I feel like the kind of themes that these games are about resonate with the teen/young adult age range. So I get it. Would I like to see this kind of game applied to adults too? Sure. But for now, I'm okay with this.

I know you're joking, but what's up with the Golden hate, there are people who don't like it? I still didn't play it but I hear it's better in everything, maybe not in the difficulty, but everything else?

It's pretty scary to think of Atlus going with the current trend of the east end of the industry , but I'm glad they rejected that path.

PS4 development basically confirmed. I bet they'll port it later. If there's demand there and they're aware of it, I don't see them not capitalizing on it down the road.

I look at your avatar and I pray to God that you are being sarcastic.

EDIT: Never mind, just read your post more carefully XD

They probably meant vita now THAT would have been a hilarious meltdown

I'd be totally fine with Vita, I was only against 3DS and mobile, other than that I was ok with Vita, PS3, PS4, PC, Wii U, hell, I'd be really excited about it if it was for PS2, and I'm not even joking.

The Persona series has always maintained a very tight theme with the high school setting. It started with high-schoolers in Persona 1. Persona 2, while expanding the pool of characters and setting quite a bit, still began with and centered around a high school setting. Persona 3 and 4 were extremely tied to the high school setting. All four of these games have dark themes (admittedly, 4 less so, but there's still death and murder abound). Hell, Persona 3 was incredibly dark, and yet at the time was the most tied to the high school age and setting. In no way does high school imply adolescent nonsense. In no way does maturity = quality. I don't see how sticking to the franchise's overall theme is "the kiss of death". I would have preferred college, yes, but I think high school could be just as good, and given how dark the teaser seemed, who knows? It could be the most mature Persona yet.

Also, college is where mature people go? LOL. I met way more immature people in college than in high school.

Side note: Just because there's school chairs doesn't mean it can't be college. Many colleges use those same chairs.

Dodged a bullet with that mobile news christ. Can't wait for the beginning of next year though, Atlus are such teases.

I wonder if that's when they'll do an extended trailer? Similar to what we got with 3/4.

This description of the theme makes me worry that it's going to be some kind of Danganronpa-ish thing, where everyone's held captive and made to play some kind of twisted game, they eventually break free (or die), etc., etc.

I feel like that trope, or whatever you want to call it, has become popular lately, and it would bum me out if this is the direction that P5 ends up going.

oh man, that would have been hilarious.

I guess the people who kept insisting that it was going to be a Vita weren't so crazy after all. I hope it can end up looking as good as Catherine now that they've made their choice to put it on a console at least.
