College Football 2013 |Week 15| Where rankings are made up & SEC losses don't matter

Exactly. No one cares that Auburn was left out in 2004. It made no difference.

???

That's an odd topic change from Cam to 2004.

And yes, people do still care. It's one of the most-referenced reasons for the move to a 4-team playoff.

So much hate here.

I normally wouldn't mind playing Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl, but the season ending on such a weird flukey sour note has made me pretty bitter about the postseason. I also have to stay off of Facebook for a month because my Auburn friends won't shut up about it.

Oh well, at least we have recruiting to look forward to :(

I think all the rumored bowls this morning were a lot more exciting than what we're actually getting. Is anybody happy about any of the matchups?

Spurrier on playing Wisconsin: "Well, we've gotta get our run defense pants on, that's for sure."

I didn't know those were things!

New Mexico Bowl. I'LL TAKE IT! 10 year drought is OVER!!!!

All 11 eligible ACC teams are going to bowls.

http://www.theacc.com/#!/news-detail/2013-14-Postseason-Destinations_12-08-13_z1838g

Greensboro, N.C.— With top-ranked Florida State, the Atlantic Coast Conference champion, leading the way, the ACC will place an NCAA-record 11 teams in bowl games, Commissioner John Swofford announced Sunday.

...

Joining Florida State and Clemson from the ACC will be Duke (Chick-fil-A Bowl), Miami (Russell Athletic Bowl), Virginia Tech (Hyundai Sun Bowl), North Carolina (Belk Bowl), Georgia Tech (Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl), Boston College (AdvoCare V100 Bowl), Maryland (Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman), Pitt (Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl) and Syracuse (Texas Bowl).

Football conference.

In related news, there should be fewer bowls.

Isn't that bowl in like 2 weeks? If I remember correctly, that bowl game is one of the first played

The Big 12 only has 6 eligible teams. 2 of them (Oklahoma and Texas) will almost certainly lose, meaning the ceiling bowl record for the conference would be 4-2. We won't come out of it looking good at all.

Youngest school to ever go BCS bowling. Hurts, but I'm going to try to make it happen. The team deserves that at least.

Less bitching than I expected. Seems like a lot of people are staying positive.

2014 Fiesta Bowl... Battle of BCS newbies.

I think the over/under is going to be over 100 lol.

Wow. Fiesta and Sugar Bowls have terrible matchups.

Sugar Bowl had a chance to have the biggest matchup outside of the NC by inviting Oregon... instead they went for the lowly Sooners. Shame on them.

Bowls don't give a fuck about anything other than selling tickets. They're not required to select by the rankings outside of the championship.

That article and the book it comes from are two of the strangest, saltiest, angriest things I think I've ever read. Just an entire book about how fucking worthless the South is, jokes, name-calling.

That's pretty much what ESPN guessed was the reasoning behind it: Oklahoma was closer, they'd fill up the stadium better, more money, etc, etc.

People say this all the time and usually end up being completely wrong.

Two good offenses going at. Should be fun.

Oklahoma isn't exactly lowly, and in any event they have a huge national fanbase in addition to being 1800 miles closer to New Orleans.

It is what it is. :/

You brought it up!

Well, a) it's another goddamn SEC team getting into the title game because they auto-win tiebreakers and b) you're acting like pxleyes in the years of UF plenty. You'll note mre and co never get much pushback when Bama wins.

Maybe I should just avoid the thread because I really don't understand what I've done that's pissed anyone off and it really bums me out how much negativity runs through NCAA GAF and how much hate runs through here.

I don't hate other teams like most people here.

I didn't argue that Auburn should get in over OSU if OSU would have won. I'm not that much of a homer.

I don't excessively route for or pump up my team.

I don't talk shit about your teams.

I defend my team/conference when people make shitty/inaccurate comments, but I always try to use logic, reason, and facts instead of "my team/conference is better because it is."

Seriously, what is it? I'd love to come here and not get bummed out. I don't have that much time to follow GAF so reading this thread (and participating when I can) is a huge reason why I'd like to be here.

Sorry to get real but goddammit.

We play back to back games in Jerryworld, against Mizzou then in our season opener next year against FSU.

A 1-1 split would be a good result.

Glad to play Bama. OU would have been blown out in any bowl they played, so at least losing in a BCS bowl is less ignominious. Maybe it will help them recruit a little

Not sure where all the tears for Oregon are from. They have looked pretty meh since Stanford

Lame. I know we probably don't deserve a BCS bowl after that garbage Arizona game but it would be nice if we were at least playing a ranked team. :/

Sorry Ducks. Probably won't be traveling with you this year.

How awesome would it be if we could get Urban Meyer to Woody Hayes himself out of college football? I hope that's what we spend our month gameplanning for.

How is Clemson's run defense?

Awesome against running backs who run the ball. Awful against quarterbacks who run the ball.

It's all about the fact that Auburn fans in here disappeared, DISAPPEARED, as soon as the bottom fell out after 2010. Now some had more permanent reasons why they left, but everyone else went "poof, and they were gone." Reappearing when a miracle season happens, get shit talked. Them's the breaks.

Also, there's no winning a 2004 discussion. Never.

I think a month of rest will be great for Mariota and the team and would have loved to see you matched up against Bama. I have zero hype or interest in OU but the explanation of the future bowl tie-in (which I completely forgot about) makes sense I guess.

I don't think I'll go this year either. I went to the Alamo bowl last year, and we're playing an Oregon school yet again. Only difference is we don't have a good shot at winning this time. Alex Okafor and Kenny V took over the game against Oregon State, and David Ash was serviceable. Now we have Case McDerp and no Okafor and no Kenny V on defense. We're fucked. Oh yeah, we still have Mack Brown too.

On the flip side, San Antonio is a nice city to check out if you've never been, and Oregon is probably going to win so there is possibly some incentive to travel in your case

This is the last year the soon to be former BCS bowls pick who will appear. Will be done by a selection committee starting next year. In other words, historic conference tie ins may be no more. Okay with me.

I recognize two other Auburn fans and they barely post. Not sure who else you're talking about.

I come and go as life does, usually when gaming is boring me temporarily. I surely don't come in and talk shit and haven't seen others doing it.

The 2004 argument was about the idiocy of preaseason rankings and then spun further out when someone misused the word objective. I didn't argue that we should have gone over those two. I did say that it sucked, especially after the Bush stuff went down.

I have family in Dallas but haven't been to San Antonio yet, so we'll see... Airfare is pretty spendy right now though.
