Sherlock Series 3 |OT| - THE Source for Fiction’s Cheekbone Fetish

I mentioned in the last thread I was going to attempt to get my parents into this over Christmas. Thus far, we've polished off the first series, and Mum's already anxious to know the outcome to *that* cliffhanger. Little does she know what's coming...

Dad fell asleep halfway through The Great Game, but is planning to catch up.

Now, can *I* resist Many Happy Returns until I've rewatched S2?

Nah.

Tumblr is bringing out the lulz already.

"We need to watch Series 2 before New Years Day!"

"I know he dies"

"WTF"

"I read the Reichenbach Fall before you were born"

It's the one thing I find hilarious about the Sherlock fandom - like really and truly - as the stories are quite old and yet, people are still having their minds blown by what happens.

The other thing is that since Sherlock itself is a modern retelling, it's actually quite interesting to see all of these stories being adapted in this modern way. Of course, with this modern retelling, being 'spoiled' by the plot itself is strangely not the same as being spoiled by how it's done in the show.

Still, I think your dad would still enjoy the twists & turns of S2 before New Year's.

Makes me think of an old saying: "It isn't what your story is about, but how it is about it."

So even if he knows how the stories will go, the way in which they are told is fresh and exciting.

Just watched the mini-ep. When the leitmotif started to play, I made a most undignified squeal.

The year can't end fast enough.

oh man I could not be more excited! I was afraid with Cumberbach and freeman getting alot of work recently they might not come back. I might need to re watch season 2 to prepare my body for season 3 goodness.

As someone who hasn't read any of the original Sherlock novels but love all of Sherlock BBC, how easy will it be to ease into the books? As in, are the characters pretty much the same, relationships, etc?

I just think he went a bit mad from guilt or something, but it's so fun watching fandom implode. The next few weeks are going to be glorious.

any possible way americans can legally watch this on the 1st or do we have to wait till the 19th?

I've been trying to figure out if the Beeb simulcasts the show online (which I could then sorta-kinda-technically watch legally on a VPN) but I've never gotten an answer.

If you want a method that is 100% legal, then no, probably not.

There is no one in the Sherlock cast that I ever hated so the fact that people are blown away by Anderson right now is actually hilarious.

Still, redemption for all is a great thing about this show.

Just start out with The Adventures of Sherlock Homes, kicks off with A Scandal in Bohemia and Irene Adler. The transition should be pretty easy and the originals are still great detective stories and most of the time you won't figure it out before Holmes explains it.

The language might be a bit old fashioned for some folk, but they are a fun read nonetheless. :)

My favorite show to watch with my girlfriend. I like it for the characters and mysteries and she thinks Benedict cumberbatch is hot

Tumblr is quite shaken too.

The fact that there's a freakin' Anderson tag now speaks volumes.

There's freakin' Anderson fanart now what.

I love when fandoms are personified such as with Anderson here or with The Brigadier's granddaughter in The Day of the Doctor. It's always hilarious.

Thanks, old English shouldn't be too difficult. Are they as light-hearted and funny as the Sherlock episodes are?

Fandom is a fickle yet hilarious thing. Granted, when it turns on each other, it feels straight out of Mean Girls...

On par though The Five Pips is kinda dark in that it deals with
the KKK
. Other than that, they are excellent detective novels as well as great reads in general.

We've only just watched the first couple of episodes, so me and my girlfriend are psyched for this even tho we still have S2 to get through. :)
