SSX |OT| Modern Boardfare

Who knows. I'd love to see the team work together again.

At least Frank G. seemed to speak positively about SSX in the press. Maybe that means good things.

I've wanted to play so badly for the past several months but I literally have 0 time to play games these days except for 3DS on the subway. :c

I nominate this thang as my GOTY stillll.

Is it really looking like nothing else is going on with the team? I guess it is time to pick this up again if there is no chance of a sequel.

I hope they get to make a sequel. The game has its faults but I think the dev-team really showed that they know what they are with Mt. Eddie. (Death pits being the major one.) What I hope for the most is the return to the "tour" feel of SSX3 and tracks made with quality and not quantity in mind. There are a lot of great tracks in SSX but a lot of bad ones as well. Just focus on a smaller number and really make each one stand out. One of the things that made the backcountry in SSX3 so great was that they were unique, if every track is a backcountry one they lose their luster.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm doing good in everything except the races which I lose pretty bad in.
Keep your vertical travel to a minimum; don't jump too much. Always hold the left stick forward. Boost on straight/smooth paths where you won't be turning or course correcting. Or boost coming out of turns.

Grinding also slows you down a bit so try to avoid it.

Are you racing online or doing the single player events? The wingsuit is a whole nother ball of yarn to consider when racing online, but I'll let you answer first.

Dont go for air on jumps and keep your Uber going so you can mash boost.

I think I was going for too much air, after I stopped that my times improved a lot.

And I'm just doing the single player stuff right now. I'm not really feeling it so far though, nothing like the old SSX from what I remember. Sort of disappointed after all the praise. :/

Does this game not support 3D? Just got the Playstation 3D TV for $99 and I'm looking for games to test it out with. It was listed on the PS store as a 3D game, but now that I've downloaded the trial, I'm seeing no options to enable it.

I really need to play this game again when I get the chance.

I may even give the default controls a try this time.

It doesn't do 3D.

I'm eternally grateful we got the game we did. I'm also glad that the team at EAC worked hard to please the community because all dev teams want to do this, but I feel that few get the chance.

If we don't get another SSX game at all, I'm honestly satisfied with this one being the last. However, if another one comes next gen, I really hope that (as many people as possible from) the SSX 2012 team are involved. They did an excellent job pre and post release and I'd love to see the same amount of support for a sequel. My favourite release from a team at EAC since SKATE 2, y'all.

This game is my biggest disappointment of 2012.

All the developers had to do was give us an HD SSX. They chose to change some things with mixed results, which is unforgivable IMO, because the mistakes they made were SO dumb.

No one, and I mean no one wanted equipment in an SSX game. No one wanted courses with potholes everywhere.

Those two decisions really hurt this game. It's a shame no one told the dev team to cut that crap from the game before it shipped.

Because they acknowledged mistakes, I suspect they're going to get things right the next time though, so I really hope we get a sequel on the next consoles.

Equipment for the sake of appearance is good, as well as boosting stats. Equipment being a requirement for some events, not good.

Deathtraps were the reason I could never fully enjoy SSX.

Oh my god yesss

I'm on the wing-suit area and it's just awful. And the ice area before it is the same. The core gameplay is really solid, I just can't stand the SoOoOo XtReMe deadly descents stuff. It's just frustrating and a nuisance.

I thought deadly descent was a nice addition. Some of them like white out and darkness (specifically Africa) were no fun but Code Blue and Wrecking Crew is two of the best tracks in the game. Was it overdone? Yes but that goes right into what I've always said about the game, to much focus on quantity over quality.

The bigger problem for me was that if you wanted to place high among your friends you had to use the wingsuit. For every race drop there should be a different leaderboard based on if you used a wingsuit or not.

Yeah, Wingsuits were fun (although I never really mastered them like some speed freaks of nature did... I'm jealous!) but I wish there was a decent way to separate those times.

It was nice that you could create custom GEs with no wingsuits though.

I'm trying desperately to Platinum this. All that's left is the Global Event badges for Race It, Survive It, and Custom Events. I have to play, like, 20-30+ of each to get them. Is there a way to speed up the process? I might just give up - I have no desire to play some 120 online events.

I want to chill and play this game...

But for some reason, and this only happens with SSX, the game is unplayable with its framerate. Im talking like sub 10 fps. I tried clearing cache and shit and nothing is working.

Totally with you. Having a current gen SSX is a blessing, and has most certainly extended the life of the franchise for the dedicated fans. I really hope that EA green lights a sequel next gen. The game sold quite well for it's budget did it not? Over 1 million copies is impressive for a game that had a small budget and not much advertising.

For now, as an SSX fan, I'm very pleased with the game we got. There is a lot of great content, and while there were some missteps here and there, it is a game I can keep coming back to.

Yeah wingsuits were a lot of fun, but they kinda ruined the leaderboards.

Create a custom event for race it/survive it on a short map, hide it from everyone and set it to 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat, if I remember correctly it should count as both a race it/survive it and a custom event. You still have to grind but it will probably cut down on the amount.

So it did over 1 million at least? Happy for them, I haven't seen any numbers.

This is actually working pretty well. Sucks you can only make three custom events at a time, but it's better than the alternative. Thanks for the tip!

I found this game very very easy to plat. Not complaining tho. The hardest part was def. doing the survive it without any gear.

It's still boring but trophy hunting always is, but yeah it works pretty well and I used the method to.

Even though some trophies were kinda grindy-ish I thought that overall it was a nice game to platinum. I remember there were three things that pissed me off though, darkness without gear, white out without gear and doing a survive it for three lap (or something like that) without gear and no rewind. For the last one I first played wrecking crew and aced it, but I forgot to unequip the wingsuit like a jackass and had to redo it, and of course I failed. Think I finally did it on an ice survive it I think.

I have all gold medals in the game except for three, all of them being Africa medals. God damn that range sucked. I haven't even tried to played since they upped the level cap to 15, I imagine that it is wholly unplayable now.

This was free in Australia on the market place recently, for a really short amount of time.

A bunch of friends have picked it up and are trying to challenge me. Time to jump back in.

Finally platinum'd (my second one). The global event trophies were a pain in the ass and nearly zero fun. Why they chose to have 50 for gold was beyond me. Par for the course considering the other bonehead decisions of SSX.

I agree man. I havent played the game in months but decided to buy the DLC because it was on sale. While playing the new courses, I was just thinking, they really don't know what made SSX so great.

SSX was an absolute beautiful game to play. The new developers definitely went with quantity over quality. It was never about how many tricks you can pull in 30 seconds. It was about how great the tricks looked and the difficulty of landing them.

Not to mention the customization. SSX3 had it perfect. Let me customize my tricks. Thanks for the reboot but I can still pop in SSX1-3 and have way more fun and enjoyment than this one. BY FAR.

Big thing for me was the way in which you ride and the tricks.

Maybe its a camera thing, or the controls are weird... maybe its actually the speed.

And tricks are a lot worse because its literally just repeating the same 2-3 tricks and doing frontflips. And the tricks feel so spammy and fast, they have no character to them. There's no flow to the game.

After trading in my copy that I got near launch, I decided to pick up a cheap copy of the game again (found it for ten bucks used), have there been any big patches since ummm April 2012?

There was one that added free ride and "lobby" multiplayer but I don't know when it came out.

Anyone still play this?

Its 4.99 during the sale on the marketplace for 360 and as I was thinking of getting this, was just looking for some friends to play with!
