Except for the most part people that complain about where the company is headed have to realize that I among others are no longer the target audience.

Right now the target audience is on mobile platforms and people that like this kind of stuff.

LR sold under 400k units it's first week in Japan and SE called it a success.

It's not there, but it's getting really damn close.

LR is a rush job of a game that they put very little money into, and its treated as a spinoff. A lot of people knew it was going to be profitable for them at least from the get go.

LR or FFX-3 (if it ends up existing) really shouldn't be a barometer for the fate of the FF series. FFXIV ARR is seemingly a success and I have no doubt in my mind that FFXV will be a hit whenever they get around to releasing it.

I always felt like FF never really got that much worse, it's just that the rest of the industry got better at visuals/story/presentation, something Square was miles ahead of everyone else in back in the late 90s/early 00s, while Squeenix just kinda stagnated.

Years ago, APZoneRunner asked him about FFX HD in an interview. I forget what he suggested in his question, but O. Smith dodged it.

He's probably the one that translated the audio drama for SE.

I think people would prefer FF characters not being bastardized and essentially become short term profit sellouts but Dissidia already did that to a few so I suppose it doesn't really matter to a majority.

The only reason a "novel" gets this much attention is because FFX is one of the more popular entries.

So should they never make a sequel to a game, even if it produced your favorite game... What kind of fairness is that? What logic is that?

The setting of this story is crazy and I think a fair share of the fanbase will be disgusted by it. I will agree with you but my expectations are at zero regardless. The judgement of the game ultimately effects brand image to a certain degree is what I'm seeing. I want more Yoshida and Itou though. :/
The story sounds insane and crazy as hell so I might check it out if it's cheap.

Final Fantasy X-2 has the best battle system in the franchise (Dress Spheres!), but fuck that plot.

The ones that prove that they were dumb would be the cast. They knew Sin would come back even if they sacrificed Yuna, yet still wanted to sacrifice themselves.

Tidus doesn't follow the status quo, since he's not from that world. He doesn't know the ethics.

There is not a part in the game that made me think he was a dumbass. Kicking a bomb mistaking it for a blitzball is facepalm worthy. Tidus in FFX is not anywhere near that.

Well, it was sure as hell a lot more fun than tediously switching in characters just so they could get shared experience in X (which was already on top of the slowest battle system in the franchise).

I did like X's battle system, overall, but it was straight molasses. I appreciated the speedy delivery of X-2, in contrast.

Well, if you can't summon anymore...It's weirder that all three girls become weapons masters after 2 years::Shrugs:: Her become a j-pop sensation, seemingly overnight, was what was troubling me since that really goes against who Yuna was in FF10, but that gets explained in FFX-2 (rather nicely).

That's a caviat of the game-i-ness of the game. It's not....

True, but the second game turned out to be really good and there was nothing in the story that was a genuine affront to FF10 on a whole.

I mean, Dress Spheres are just a simplified, yet improved version of the Job System, which is what people had been looking for for a long time. They were just...dumb fancy dress up coated.

Oh god... I remember not using Kimahri much during FFX. That solo battle on Mt. Gagazet was super hard for me lol.

Yeah, FFIX's battle system was really slow. =/ I still love that game, though. It feels like the ATB bars take forever to fill up, even at the end of the game.
