Everyone, I want to bring up an important issue today. It seems to me that there are people who have some degree of appreciation of role playing games and haven't got themselves acquainted with Avernum: Escape from the Pit as of yet. I feel that these people are making a really big mistake, as the game is a really excellent CRPG and is, in fact, one of the secret best games on Steam. Please consider giving it a go — it might very well turn out to be your dream game.

I just grabbed it in the Groupees Bundle. I'll give it a shot once I'm done with the Ys games I have.

It doesn't matter what is in the bundle, just prepare yourself for "I just bought X game during the sale for X price!!! This is shit!!" posts.

I'm preparing myself for buying it regardless then ModBotting 3/4's of it to you lot due to always owning most of the stuff in bundles these days. I never learn to keep my money in my wallet.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'll move it up in my playing schedule :)
Does this game have any ties to Avernum series on gog, or just in a name?

Papers Please, Gone Home, Stanley Parable, Spelunky and Don't Starve with DayZ as BTA. Believe.

Most of those haven't even hit 75% off, so not likely.

My bet is on Dust, Guacamelee, Antichamber, Torchlight 2 and Monaco (ie stuff most of us bought during Winter Seal).

Thanks for pointing that out! I'll move it up in my playing schedule :)

Remake of Avernum 1, GOG (and Steam) has Avernum 4-6

This reminds me, we should do that SteamGAF L4D2 session we talked about a couple of months ago once and for all. Who's with me?

I'm up for it with AsiaGaf. Unless you want me to shoot zombies at 200 ping. I would consider myself "pretty good".

I'm totally in.
Just tell me when with a little advance so I could try to organize my schedule (like: taking a day off :D )

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
morning guys, anything good happening? any HiBX game confirmed or something?

I'm in for europe gaf on the L4D2 session, I played it on 360 and double dipped on pc before I realized I have no friends to play it with and since I'm a pretty chillax dude I don't enjoy playing with the community at large all that much - e.g don't expect me to be all serious business about stuff.

I can do it, maybe.
I'm in! Though I've never actually played a L4D game. So whoever gets stuck with me would have to carry me some, lol. It was really awesome of Valve to give that away as I had always wanted to try it, but didn't know anyone who played so I never bought it.
Great! Now all that's left is deciding when we'll do it, and if it's gonna be co-op or versus.

And don't worry about being bad at the game, I played over 20 hours and still suck :p

Yeah, I'd better mention that I usually start stray shooting everywhere as soon as I hear the witch crying. :D

Nope, just being highly optimistic haha.

Don't we usually get hints through registry changes on Steam?

Sometimes there are bundle-specific subs made but such leaks aren't frequent, in part because subs no longer publicly broadcast their actual name by default.

I need the chart someone did showing how PC gaming its actually cheaper than Console Gaming. My Google Skills are flopping.

I don't think I've ever preloaded a game, but how do choose which drive to download to? I'm only see start preloading, and my guess it will pick my almost full local HDD instead of my empty HDD.

But melee is superior against special infected. Fire axe spitters in the face. Plus time-zones clash pretty bad unless you guys wanna play in the middle of the night.
Well, that depends on where you live, Asia is a big place, or maybe we can play with the Aussies.

I'm used to playing multiplayer games with 300+ ping, so 200 sounds like a pretty good number!

Sure thing. I was thinking of doing it on a Friday night or Saturday, though we have to choose it well because of the different time zones.

You can use Link Shell Extension to [pre-load to a different drive]: once you've moved [the depotcache folder] to a different drive, right-click on it, select "Pick link source", then navigate to your Steam folder, right-click somewhere within the empty space, hover over "Drop as..." and select "Symbolic link".

Urghh...had this asshole added me after playing a round of Arkham Origins MP.

I thought he was adding ppl who play it coz you know...there aren't many. Turns out he just wants to say how much I suck, should sell my account and look at how pro he is at the game.
And why am I not surprised he's also a hardcore Dota 2 player. Damn toxic community.

This user has also played as:

Injustice is growing on me. Mostly because of its hokey storyline.
But it is still inferior to MK9.

Do you mean this chart?

not sure how accurate it is though.

Increase the price of the hardware by $1k, decrease the price of the games to $5 each .

Listen to nexen!
Well $5 each might be a bit unrealistic, but $10 as average is true!

Thanks!
Although I'm pretty sure all Avernum games are on gog. Will check later. I didn't know 4-6 are on steam too, though.

Thanks for the heads up! Added it to my wishlist.

I would say add another 90 or so to PC since you need a better motherboard since that processor needs to be overclocked and that board won't handle it plus an after market cooler(atleast until Mantle shows up and assuming it works as advertised). Thats about what I spent on my system with:

FX6300 with H60 at 4.5Ghz and 2 120GB SSDs, 7870.

In a year I would say I buy atleast 4-5 games at full price when they release.

When I upgrade I usually have no problem selling old components to pay for half of what I'm buying. The extra $1K should cover costs of upgrades for most over the 8 year span assuming they sell old hardware. In the end costs are probably similar between the 3 platforms, but PC being spread out. You're also going to get a fresh "experience" every couple of years.

So, I think the limited (Humble) bundle might be every game ever included in a Humble Indie Bundle for, like, $100? Maybe?

It seems, only I think that this is extremely unlikely.
If I had to guess, I would think it being some dlc collection for some well known game, or t-shirt, or LE of sorts.

I would go as far at $15 I think.

That's why I said on average, if we buy some games for $10-20, we wait others do drop to $5-7, no?

That's Geneforge, another Spiderweb RPG series. Avernum has only parts 4-6 available (and The Pit). Hopefully we will get #2 and #3 sometime soon.

//EDIT

Checked on GOG, you're right, all 6 games. Steam has just the ones I mentioned though.
