They don't have any information about a Xbox One release but "will keep us informed" F2P incoming?

I would have rather seen PES14 on PS4 launch.
After FIFA turned out pretty good on next gen I wont tout "return of the king".

It's open season this year for me.

I think FIFA 14 is a massive backwards step and probably the worst one since pre-2009, so I'm completely open minded going into this year.

PES 14's animations are absolutely outstanding.

I can't wait to see what they can do on PS4 with Fox Engine and a football game.

PES Series went downhill as soon as they decided to go Multiplatform.

If they stay PS4 only I will support the franchise and expect it to top Fifa within 2 years.

looking forward to it. Fox engine should be good, interesting about the PS4 and keep you informed on XB1.

Sounds like either the decision isn't made yet or theres going to be some exclusive PS4 stuff, even if its just marketing.

Multiplatform or not will be decided by sales. If Xbox one continues to sell in Europe like it did with 360 KONAMI will never decide to go exclusive.

Pes already lost so much sales in Europe they cannot afford to lose even more by being exclusive

Pes2015 will be multi in my opinion, maybe lead platform will be Ps4

I've read this post a few times but can't make any sense out of it. Is this a reference to a meme like the "square just shot themselves in the foot"?

Keep them coming.

He's right though. Konami didn't have the internal resources to support multiple platforms. It's partly why PES on PS3/360 turned to shit.

This time it's less important, not only with the Bone sell less in key markets for them (Europe) it also shares a common architecture meaning a port from the PS4 version can be phoned in or, given the poor sales of XB1 in Europe, not bothered with at all.

PES is a PlayStation franchise, even now, it does the majority of its sales on PS3, even in Xbox dominant countries like the UK. With the market heading for PS4, I could see Konami just not bothering with PES for Bone, or just phoning it in.

PES 2014 engine definitely wasn't for PS3, it ran terribly, and everything was pretty hard to see.

Can't wait to see it on PS4.

Nope - look they simply don't have the resources to cope - EA are so much bigger.

PES would have progressed beyond Fifa if they went exclusive to PS3.

Because of the lack of quality they lost out on millions of sales and spent so much more on developing for other consoles!

Stick to PS4, at least for the next 3 iterations and see what happens or we will continue getting average titles every year!

I actually don't think Fifa is that good, it's just better than Konami's effort!

This. Everything about the game screamed "let me be next gen" on the last gen consoles. I feel like theyll finally be able to do what they wanted to in 2015...I hope...

what? in my opinion next-gen FIFA 14 (not the current-gen version) is way better than FIFA 13, 12 and 11

well, this PES news doesn't surprise me at all, about time.

I absolutely agree here. PES15 was more or less confirmed to be the first next gen PES- PES 14 was really good, especially tech wise (on PC) but there is still a ton things to be improved. I hope Konami delivers a more physics based football experience.

I don't care about PES on consoles anymore. The only platform I am interested in a new PES is on Vita because of EA's legacy edition bullshit but that won't happen.

Ah, and please Konami: Fix this trough ball shit. It was really a gamebreaker when 7 out 10 balls reach the striker and lead to direct goals. Oh, and the keepers. is it so hard to programm some good kepper AI?

This is their chance to redeem themselves. In PS2 days I was FIFA mad because the official stuff was more important to me than a better game, which IIRC from magazines PES was.

This sounds exactly like the problems people have with FIFA.

How about get a better development team and make a better game?

you must be kidding, I don't get the point in being exclusive = better game. it's Konami's fault PES is being shit for so many years

I think the logic is that resources and focus spent on one console can lead to a more optimised and better game.

For me personally most of my favourite games were developed (at least initially) for one console, so I believe in the argument.

Not for me.

I think the defensive AI is a joke, there's not enough fluidity or movement in attack and it's just a laborious and cumbersome experience if you're playing with anyone below the top bracket of teams. Like playing with a team of Carlton Cole's.

Oh, and the bullshit lobbed through ball over the top has been dialled up to 11 this year online. Ultimate Team is borderline unplayable.

Definite regression in my opinion. FIFA has been the dominant football game for the last 5-6 years but it's not beyond another turn around. Intrigued to see what Konami can do. That said I'm not abandoning FIFA any time soon. They seem to hit the spot every other year I think.

lol at the thought of PES 2015 being a PS4 exclusive

I think I read somewhere that only around 10% of PES sales were in the US, looking at the XB1 sales figures and where they have been sold(mainly US) I'm sure PES could be more profitable without an XB1 version. The game is quite large in Japan and Europe, much of which won't have an XB1 release in September.

It's not a Sony moneyhat type deal it's more of a "tales of" decision where it's made by the business suits.

You could say that about a lot of franchises. It's not just Xbox here, it's the PC community too with their excellent mod community.

Yeah, the "lob" pass is a FIFA problem for nearly a decade, but the keeper AI is way better than in PES. These 2 things deflated the great impression I had with PES14, because it really is a great football game but if you play it for months its getting really annoying.

No shocking news in the title? Didn't they say this was the plan from the beginning with this new engine?

I gotta say I don't play online, I mostly play in SP and with some friends at our homes. We play FIFA 13 and FIFA 14, and all of us agree next-gen FIFA 14 is way better than FIFA 13, 12 and 11, and we've been playing FIFA and PES for years.

PES is currently a joke, and any attempt to claim it's better than FIFA is pure fanboyism. Konami has to put more effort in PES to make it worth it, I still remember the old PS2 days when PES was a beast, but this gen PES sucked from the first entry on 360

I hope they improve keeper controlling in FIFA. There are times when I can second guess what my friend is gonna do but the keeper AI is tricked. Eg. Pass Crosses where I draw my keeper to the crosser, realise my friend is gonna pass, but the game doesn't let me react to my guess by making my keeper retreat quickly to the goal.

FIFA 14 is terrible, PES 14 is really terrible. Makes me sad, no football game for me this year, traded FIFA in and PES is not fun.

Considering PES multiplatform didn't work at all last gen.

How about they put those 2 programmers they have working on the series, and make a game just for the PS4, then maybe I'll be a bit excited.

Considering how bad they've trashed the gameplay of PES in the last game in favor of the brand new graphics engine (that still performed terrible on all platforms), and EA being EA with that last Fifa game. I'm so out of soccer games for now.

They don't have unlimited resources?

And?

PES was multiplatform the previous gen with PC and Xbox releases and had one of the most cherished entries I.e PES 5.

If it is PS4 exclusive then so be it, I just find it ridiculous making excuses for a team that performed poorly throughout last gen with poor decision making and relying on a ageing engine.

I agree, but you're getting ahead of yourself and that's not what I'm trying to say.

FIFA 14 is a dissapointing regression for the series - in my opinion - independant of what Konami are doing. EA have set their standards high this gen and for me FIFA 14 falls well under them. Whatever the intentions were, too many of the subtle alterations and changes to the formula have negatively impacted the flow of the game. They've straight up broken certain aspects of it.

If you're only playing single player then that probably explains why you're having a better time with the game, because that seems to be a trend I've spotted as well. Just a shame for me that I lost interest in FIFA's single player modes a few years back.

He's not right. If PES was only released on PS4 as he suggests, it wouldn't come anywhere close to selling the numbers that FIFA does across every platform under the sun, even if it slightly beats it on PS4 alone.

He didn't say anything about sales...

He said top it within a couple of years, he could easily have been talking about quality, in fact it seems much more likely that he was talking about quality.

I'm in.

PES 2014 was a great step in the right direction. Fantastic animation, the engine struggled to cope on the PS3 though. Hopefully PS4 lets them bring out the game that the new engine should be able to power.

Who said anything about sales, and who said anything about a PS4 exclusive? It would still release on PS3 and 360 since that just requires a roster update and a new coat of paint. For next gen, going PS4 only for a couple of years makes sense to establish a quality game rather than stretch resources over multiple versions.

Also, PES doesn't need to do the same figures as FIFA to give Konami a decent ROI, but they do need it to do better than it does right now, which means changing something.

Please make it as close to PES4 as possible.
Amen to that. It's the only PES game I still own and play on a regular basis. I still can't wrap my head around how hard Konami dropped the ball (no pun intended) this generation with PES.

PES 2014 should've undoubtedly been a PS4 and Xbone title. The animations are absolutely fantastic, but the game runs like a total shite, at least on the PS3. Not to mention the plethora of other issues the game suffers/suffered from. Urgh. Can't wait for PES 2015 though. Should be glorious, I imagine.

Konami need to focus on quality imo.

The problem is they were so stuck in the past, insisting on implementing D-Pad controls, when they should have abolished it as soon as they went to the PS3/ 360.

They have also lost their own identity - I mean what is PES now? A sim or an arcade style game?

They have made some really ridiculous implementations like moving the power bar and having names above the players, which has moved it further away from being a sim.

In contrast, EA have played the safe game mainly because they simply have no real competition and they know that they simply won't be topped.

Fifa is pretty awful though, so unresponsive, but it is certainly better than PES at the moment.

Konami should focus on the gameplay rather than making faces appear lifelike!

Going PS4 only is either a fanboy pipe dream, or spoken by somebody who doesn't understand how similar the two consoles are compared to their predecessors.

Porting between PS4 and Bone is borderline trivial. PES will come to both systems unless Sony money hats, which makes zero sense for a football game with no complete FIFA license or being historically even half as good as their competitor.

FIFA 14 is fantastic and clearly has mindshare at this point. The real question is if Konami will dedicate the necessary resources to compete, which given the overall quality of their games in recent years, does not appear to be much.
