Although I already made a thread gushing about what I loved this year, I gotta say that Bitte Orca is my number one, especially after hearing it on vinyl.

Axe to Fall or Heavy Days (Jeff the Brotherhood) for me, maybe.

I don't know. Haven't really given it much thought.

See, I already forgot about Japandroids. That is a good album.

Is GAF doing a post your top x favorite albums of 09 thing? Or is that kind of thing frowned upon here?

Yeah, I suck. My bad.

Anyway, cokemachineglow is taking their sweet time, and I think that's the last site that I have any real interest in that's remaining.

I just want to know which album DiS has at 1.

Useful Chamber is an amazing song.

I like the xx and Girls albums more than I do Veckatimest and MPP. But I pretty much despise MPP so I guess that's not a big deal.

I'm glad that Merriweather Post Pavilion is getting the love it deserves. I don't get the love for Grizzly Bear, though.
I bought the MPP album because of the hype on gaf. The album disappointed however but I shouldn't have been surprised - people also praise Lady Gaga...

Crotchety Old Man
I don't mind My Girls as a best single choice(though don't agree), but MPP as best album is a joke. Shit is boring.

I swear "P4k" was never this bad.

I'M COOCOO FOR COCO CRISP!
The Tiny Mix Tapes list is probably the best I've seen from the big music sites this year. The AOTY choice is shit, but they showed a lot of love to experimental music. Pretty rad to see Oneohtrix Point Never in their top five.

Sol..

I am Wayne Brady.
is it'z blitz that great? I mean i listen to it all the time, but it didn't occur to me it was like the top 5 of the whole year.

I don't know how anyone can like Dirty Projectors. That Stillness is the Move song hurts me so.
It's quite a different song from the rest of the album. At first I didn't like it either but it grew on me fast.

Also I'm surprised at how high It's Blitz is placing.

Yeah, this is true.

I don't really know how cokemachineglow leans, but maybe it will be closer to TMT than anything else.

I am surprised that Tiny Mix Tapes is the only site that has that Emeralds record on their list.

blah, the new flaming lips album is not great at all
Yeah? It's my favourite this year. It was one of the few albums that set a specific feeling and atmosphere, and stuck to it for an entire record. I'd include Bill Callahan, Dan Deacon and The Antlers along with it as the artists that did that best this year. Anything in particular you didn't like, or did it just not grab you?

I don't like the stylistic approach they took with the album, it doesn't harken to what made me fall in love with the Flaming Lips in the first place–great harmonies and disgustingly catchy pop melodies, all with an edge of awesome glitch sounds. This one just felt way too drone, with no clear peaks or valleys. It just ran for nearly an hour, and I couldn't distinguish either a particularly strong nor weak track. The entirety just felt weak to me.

I guess you could say it didn't grab me. I just want another Clouds Taste Metallic, Soft Bulletin, or Yoshimi.

Yeah, it's a bit odd but completely expected.

Anyway, the only other list that I can think of right now is cokemachineglow. I mean, there's something like Kerrang!, but that's just stretching.

Out of every album listed, the only one I've actually completely listened to is Two Suns. I've heard parts of Fame Monster...and I think that's pretty much it, never heard of most of the bands listed. I assume they are somewhat decent lists, going off genres assigned by my imagination (based off band names) the diversity seems a bit underwhelming.

While all of the posted lists are terrible, the Pitchfork one in particular is a real snooze. God bless them for paving the way for future soft rock radio staples, though.

Really? I mean, I got back into Michael Jackson hard like everyone else this year, but I still don't think Invincible is a very good album. Also weird that it topped the poll, because I haven't heard anyone ever really bring it up when talking about his music, when he was alive or dead.

No GoldFrapp makes me a sad panda in those decade lists.

Would Michael Jackson really be there if he did not die this year? :\

Glad to see Lady Gaga doing well.

I'm disappointed that Patrick Wolf's The Bachelor hasn't been on any of the 2009 lists. By far the most underrated album of the year. Such a beautiful album.
