I'm contemplating dropping Blindspot as well. I think it's taking the Blacklist route of keeping secrets for bs reasons for too long.

I can deal with it for one season, maybe even two but It gets tiresome. I already watch The Blacklist but if Blindspot continues down that route than yeah I may drop it early on in season 2.

As for Castle, I'm hoping if it does get renewed its for a final season. I have a habit of sticking with shows till the end if I don't drop them early. With Stana leaving I'm not sure I want to watch just Nathan. So if it does get renewed I'll check out the first few episodes of the season to see if it works out.

The only new Marvel show ABC should make is one involving real superheroes. (Never mind that SHIELD has some of those — people wrote the show off five episodes into its first season and refuse to return.)

I think Damage Control has some potential, but doesn't seem to be a fall show

But yeah, seems like they are doing well enough with their Netflix shows should be their focus.

Don't we still have the mystery John Ridley show as well? I was kinda hoping that'd be a superhero class relations kinda show. American Crime in the Marvel U.

They haven't written him off. Granted, I haven't watched the season yet, but I've already read all the post-season interviews, and they make it seem like he'll still have a presence.

I don't know that I've seen this thread's title stay the same for this long, before.

They didn't completely write him off. He was back in the latest episode and he has said that he'll be back for next season.

I'm not entirely sure if they did write Danny off or not. He was in the most recent episode but he wasn't in the last 2 or 3. Plus, he wasn't in like 8 episodes last fall because he had to take care of his estranged dad (weird, right?). But from what I've read on the AV Club...comments section of each episode...is that Chris Messina might be looking to leave the show? I don't know. Is Mindy Kaling that hard to work with? The show has had so many actors come and go. What possible reason could there be?

Ah, thanks for the responses. I haven't watched it since the mid-season finale last year.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Could Netflix make DC shows if they wanted to of is the contract with Marvel means they cannot

I doubt there's anything specifically holding back a DC show, just that there's little incentive for either party.

Why sell Netflix a show when you're trying to shore up HBO Now?
Why buy a WB show when you already have plenty of superhero shows?

Reading in a Sepinwall column that the showrunner for LoT has said that they're planning on a hard reboot of the show for Season 2 sounds like the right move.

Reading that article is literally the only reason I'm still watching. Last night's episode was so fucking dumb that I don't even feel like watching the last two episodes of the season. Even with that knowledge, I still might skip out and wait for reviews next year.

THey probably could. I mean..they are paying 1,7 mln per episode for digital Gotham rights, so the interest and audience is definitely there.
WB likes to spread their shows everywhere it can, so I wouldn't be surprised if they would at some point try to do it.

I don't see it happening. They are paying WB for the streaming rights after the seasons conclude, like they do for almost everything Netflix doesn't produce in house. No clue what the viewership numbers are for Gotham on Netflix, but I doubt they are earth shattering. Either way, it's a mutually beneficial relationship and I don't see what incentive WB has to change it.

What incentive does Netflix have? They'd be essentially creating competitive shows to their own current Marvel offerings. What properties do you think WB would offer up? I'm guessing it would be entirely bit players that almost nobody cares about. You're not getting a true Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman show. You'd be looking at a low B or high C-tier dude. Whereas Marvel offered up Daredevil. Daredevil is a heavy hitter for Marvel. The Punisher is a heavy hitter for Marvel. You could argue the Power Man, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones shows focus more on bit players, but the first two have a solid following. I don't see DC offering up the equivalent.

Having said all that, if they can work out the rights to an R-rated Nightwing/Grayson show, I'm there day one.

Castle inches closer to renewal. Nathan Fillion has signed on.
http://tvline.com/2016/05/05/nathan-fillion-castle-season-9-renewal-returning-cast/

Criminal Minds has been renewed. Had to reduce the fee.
http://tvline.com/2016/05/06/criminal-minds-renewed-season-12-cbs/

Well Morgan's gone from Criminal minds but it's still a good show.

I still also enjoy Castle, but I hope they dont off Beckett at the end of the season. Seems too dark. Castle, Alexis, Ryan and Espo should make the show still fun.

I assume this is the actual interview that Sepinwall was referring to:

Will the season finale either resolve or blow open the Time Masters storyline?

The finale is the equivalent of a wrecking ball. It pretty much lays waste to all of the dramatic structure of Season 1. As we head into Season 2, all the building blocks of Season 1 will be obliterated. Effectively, 201 will be a new pilot, with new stakes and characters. It will be from the ground up. It will be a redesign of the show with, hopefully, the parts people like best.

Fancy being on TV? US show holding open casting call in Dublin.

A big US TV show set in prehistoric times? What is this.

Aha! Mystery solved!

Hulu Orders Prehistoric Drama Pilot ‘Dawn’

Set on an epic scale, Dawn follows a tribe of Neanderthals as they struggle to survive and hold on to their way of life after coming into contact with a family of Homo Sapiens. At the intersection of evolution and genocide, Dawn asks the fundamental question, what does it mean to be human?

Production on the pilot is slated to begin May 9 in Ireland where Vikings is also shot.

They do stuff like that all the time and sometimes they even combine things two separate real life incidents together.
Yeah I remember Paula Dean shooting Trayvon Martin. I find their whole "ripped from the headlines" episodes to be laughable. I found their impersonation of him to be straight out of that Family Guy porn parody haha.

I know we mostly talk about US shows here but:
Line Of Duty renewed for series 5, moving to BBC One
Testament to its critical acclaim and healthy ratings, police drama Line Of Duty will be, as industry types say, 'doing a Bake-Off'* by moving from BBC Two to BBC One in time for series four.
...
Reportedly the highest-rated BBC Two series since records began, Line Of Duty series three attracted a robust consolidated audience of over five million viewers an episode, which translates to approximately thirty million carpet stains around the UK as beverages were dropped in shock at the weekly twists and turns.
Worth noting that it just finished series 3, so it is renewed now for two more series.

I've stanned for this show before and will do it again; Watch this show (available on Hulu in the US).

I know it's not produced by Apatow or features a famous young comedian so no one on GAF cares, but the second season Grace and Frankie was pretty good. Moving on from the whole "our husbands have been having an affair for 40 years" thing and just being... well, the 2016 version of Golden Girls changed the dynamic of the show for the better.

To be fair, it's not the greatest show ever, but it serves a demographic that is pretty much absent on TV (or whatever you call a show on Netflix) and does something interesting with "let's have 4 great older actors on a sitcom".

The gamergate episode that aired last year was reprehensible, it really pissed me off.

I miss OG Law & Order.

Sounds interesting but damn I didn't even know there was a second season so soon. The first seemed like it just aired a few months ago.

Arguably the best (worst) part was right at the end when it went to credits and it said Executive Producer: Dick Wolf and everyone was wondering if that was an elaborate dick wolves joke.

It was a year, I think. I remember it coming around the same time as some other big show and being completely ignored then too. lol

This week's ep of Blacklist was supposed to be part one of the backdoor pilot for the potential spin-off, right? It wasn't exactly the most compelling ep and with numbers like that I can't imagine why they'd order it to series.

I wonder if there's any second guessing going on at the CW over the blanket renewal of all shows they did a while ago. Some of their shows (like Legends) are crashing in quality while others are tanking in ratings (like the Vampires above).

No. They are retooling Legends of Tomorrow, so they have a strategy there and it remains important to have a good connection with Berlanti. They haven't announced any episode counts either for the other shows. It is quite likely that The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are actually getting shortened final seasons. These two shows also perform quite well in DVR ratings, have international sales and they are clearly cutting characters nowadays, so even without a reduced count, it can make sense.
