Basically all I get out of this is that:
a) A dude working for Microsoft in the business group that is releasing a super secret project made some shitty analogies in a joking manner on a topic that was heavily connected with the super secret project.
b) some people at neogaf thought he was important, looked at his bad jokes/comments on the future of tech and jumped to some conclusions. The conclusions themselves seemed convincing given rumors.
c) "uh oh, the dude thought. I dun goofed"
d) gaming press gets a hold
e) dude fired.
Moral of the story. Don't talk about anything that has even a hint of any connection with your company, whether you know anything or don't. Don't joke, ever. Especially don't make shitty jokes and exaggerations--because not everyone attempts to get the whole story and look at situations with different lenses about a situation. Doubly especially don't actually voice opinions that piss off a lot of people.
I blame both sides, and I think the situation ended up as it probably should have. Although, funny enough, MS might have ended in a better situation because of it (if the new 'leaks' are true. Maybe some people here actually feel like they accomplished something, and should pat themselves on the back).
