Sometimes things are quicker in reverse.

Like you get drunker quicker taking alcohol in the butt.

no wonder op5 beat iphone in speed test.

Erica Griffin mentioned pentile too but it was a single mention with all the "normal people can't see the difference anyway" mantra to cover it up.

She is the only reviewer that seems to see the shit AMOLED yellow/blue/red hues and problems. No one else does it and that's why I don't care for other reviewers.

Is it just me or does the input lag look really bad? It looks like something insane like 500ms. Looking at the slowed down video it seems to respond just before he lifts his finger.

And she shows detailed calibration results of just about every phone she tests. I much prefer that over "it looks nice and saturated".

With calibration results I can see what stuff bothers me and what doesn't bother me too much. I've noticed that oversaturated displays look really off to me, but some inaccuracy doesn't make a huge difference. IIRC she also points out dynamic brightness/contrast which I really, really hate. I hate when the screen changes brightness at random as you scroll through a web page - and yes - even some AMOLEDs do this shit. Who knows why.

I was holding out for a oneplus 5 but didn't bite in the end. Uninspired design, poor QC, high price.

I ended up buying a used mint condition S8 for the same price (£450) from AVForums.

Had a keyone previously as well, the battery life shits all over the S8. I barely make a day in the S8, the keyone would be over 60% at the end of the day.

I just feel the camera was too slow on the keyone, as was general use. Keyboard was fantastic though.

Guess I will need to pick up an S8 soon. Can't figure out the overheating problem on my S7.

I need to convince my brother to switch to T-Mobile too.

But still have like $200 to pay off on my AT&T S7.

Jesus. Tmobile is way better than when I left them a decade ago. Getting triple speeds than at&t around here.

$50 a month for 10gb data is pretty good. Will stick with that for now. Can wifi call on unlock phones too.

Erica used to be pretty detailed but has also become too commercialised now.

Yep, she put a damn commercial for a casper mattress in the middle of her latest video because they sent her a free mattress. She said she ordered the mattress because she had a pinched nerve, but then a saw a video from Krystal Key also posted recently where they sent her a mattress. Pretty obvious they gave them free mattresses for advertising.

T-Mobile is awesome. Best cellular service provider out. Wifi calling and volte are awesome and really enhance call quality.

I got approved for rmas for both of my OnePlus 5s. Back to using a OnePlus One for now. Still have a s8+ sitting here, but seems like a downgrade from a oneplus one when I try to use it. Also those ugly ass emojis.

Aren't advertisers supposed to pay those that advertise for them?

Max Lee posted a video yesterday about how he and others like Flossy did a contest with slickwraps for free and the winner was on his channel and Slickwraps screwed over the winner and didn't send him the prize.

Just picked up a XZ Premium and I'm more than happy leaving it at 1080p, no idea what the battery hit will be running at 4k 24/7 and I'm not in any rush to find out. Not to mention whatever fuckery 4k res will induce when rendering webpages

Text is razor sharp and that's because of the 800+ppi screen, not 4K (like posters have already mentioned, 4k only kicks in in a few apps). Not sure if it's the highest-rated PPI screen out there (as with anything Android, "highest rated" never stays that way for very long), but it just looks fantastic.

4K won't cause any fuckups because you don't just change resolution. You also change density and ppi. I've seen a couple of youtube videos that say that it has no noticeable effect so I'd run in 4k at all times if I had that phone.

4k been uncontested for 1.5 years now since the z5 premium.

What reason would you need to consume 70GB a month on a cell phone? DOn't you have home internet?
Downloading porn of course

Lol just saw this. Slickwraps sucks. Dbrand sucks too. They're all overpriced and clearly scummy.

For me, Discord seems to take up a bit of data. Particularly if people are constantly uploading images.

Hello everyone! Quick story, my LG G Flex 2 suffered from the dreaded bootloop a couple days ago and it's now unusable. I have the chance to buy either the Galaxy S7 Active (which obviously comes AT&T branded), or the Oneplus 3T. Both are brand new and at around the same price (Galaxy is actually $20 more, but the seller is willing to come down a little bit, so it's virtually the same price).

Which one should I go for? I need a suggestion asap.

Also, I should be posting here semi-frequently once I get the new phone, so great reading you.

Do you need a rugged phone?

My unlocked S8 finally shipped but it didn't occur to me that it would need a signature. Seems stupid now but Amazon delivers all the time with no issue. No idea when I'll actually get it seeing as I'm not likely to be home when ever Fedex comes.

Not really. I mean, I do tend to drop my phones a bit, and while it would be nice to carry around a rugged phone when I'm out cycling, I don't usually use my phones in rough places. I simply found the S7 Active to be generally cheaper than the normal S7, which I'm guessing has a lot to fo with the faulty waterproofing.

I ended up getting the Oneplus 3T, by the way. $330 brand new. I hope it's good.

You can sign the card they leave for you, then they'll leave the package on your stoop the next time.

This might be a bad idea depending on where you live.

The option to pre-sign wasn't available from Fedex when it has been in the past. It just sucks that I know the phone is here and I won't see it for 3 days because of the holiday in the US. My apartment seems to be fine as I've never had issues with lots of amazon deliveries.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to get Google Now working as a swipe from the home screen on the S8? Its one of my most used features on the 5X.

Good luck to you.

I took today off to handle some stuff (and to get a 4 day weekend) and my s8+ was just delivered. I don't know what I was expecting, but this thing is taller than my Blu Life One X by the length of the top bezel, but is otherwise the same size. I thought they had accidentally sent me the regular s8 for a moment. Yet the screen is 6.2" instead of 5.2". Is this the future?

I really hope they don't try to fuck me over with my N4 trade-in, because otherwise I'm returning it. I'm not even going to activate my SIM until they accept the trade-in.

Is there anyone going over why an inverted panel causes that effect? Looking frame by frame it seems to update the lower part first.

I'm echoing Jeffrey and hope we start seeing 120hz panels with focus on low latency. My next PC monitor will be 120hz+ even if that means 1080p.

Has anyone dealt with this issue before?
On my dad's phone, which is a Galaxy S6 Active, there's been this issue that happens sometimes where text messages get stuck pending and never send. Why would this be happening and what can be done about it? It's on the latest Android version it can get OTA.

i think before we get to that point reviewers need to at least acknowledge there's something up with the display. i haven't heard a single one mention it

We haven't had detailed phone reviews in ages. It's all about getting whatever you have up when the embargo drops because you're not getting clicks after that.

I miss when Brian Klug took apart phones and mapped the antenna locations.

I mean it's still a fairly subtle effect. I don't notice it unless I'm scrolling really slow which I don't do often.

I have it pretty bad on my units. It seems to effect some phones more than others for some reason as I've seen some videos where it's barely noticeable.

Yeah I know but considering how many of them keep mentioning how the display is the most important part they could at least mention it. Unless they're too afraid oneplus will disown them
