I used to live in Tempe and I really can't say I'm surprised. Really a fucking stretch to classify it as free speech since it's a bunch of certainly almost all white people armed with guns standing in front of a minority place of worship to antagonize and intimidate, hoping to inspire fear and infringing on their right to free speech.
And to be frank, all you need is one emboldened asshole to snap and shoot someone out of racist paranoia I wouldn't be surprised if something terrible happens, not that this "protest" isn't already.

Mosques. You have to keep up Aceofspades. Start watching Fox News or Bill Maher to get informed about the insidious nature of Islam and how all Muslims are the fifth column that will lead to the downfall of civilization.
Naturally, they would be alarmed and concerned and demand that a law be passed to bar such threatening activities.
Islam hate is wrong and all, but I don't see anything wrong with making a very public protest against Islamic extremists attacking people for drawing their prophet. I don't really care if the protest offends people. People are being and have been murdered over cartoon drawings.

There's a difference between free speech and intimidation/provocation.

Free speech is an absolutely wonderful concept and for the most part, it's used appropriately and with good intentions.
Unfortunately, people like these bikers and the Westboro Baptist Church completely abuse the intention behind it. They are both inciting violence and once that happens, their right to speak freely in that manner should be quashed. Disperse them and send them on their way.
No right, no matter how important, should be limited when it infringes upon other people's right to live peacefully.

I'm not going to say that their idea is the best solution, but seeing what happened right right, right where I live in Texas, at the very same center where I and several members of my family had graduation ceremonies, I don't think "Well we should probably arm ourselves during this protest." is a bad idea. People seem to have this attitude that legally carrying a gun suddenly makes you in the wrong or something.
Are you completely oblivious to the massacre that happened recently at a similar protest? Being armed does not mean you aren't peaceful.

This is just an incitement of religious hatred. This isn't about free speech, it is deliberate provocation and intimidation. It's like me holding a Holocaust denial rally outside a synagogue. Legally an expression of free speech but obviously an asshole move with a deliberate attempt to cause offence and/or incite an angry or violent backlash. Also people bringing up Westboro's protests as a reason to allow this, really?
