I'm pretty sure Jim's main issue with the game was with being unable to find people to actually play with which is totally understandable as the population of the game has been nearly non existent on PC for months now.

That's why I'm so excited about the relaunch because Battleborn really is a fantastic game despite all the unwarranted vitriol and hatred surrounding it so it will be nice to be able to have people to play with again.

If you enjoy MOBAs and FPS games even just a little then you really owe yourself the chance to check out a game that combines both seamlessly.

If anyone wants to give the game a try on PC by playing with someone that already knows the Ins and Outs feel free to PM me, I have over 500 hours with the game so I have a pretty good understanding of the underlying mechanics.

If people cared about that Battleborn wouldn't be going F2P today.

Not liking battleborn is okay, MOBAs (which battleborn is more accurately one of) are incredibly hard to get into, and that was was on of the contributions to it's downfall (compare overwatch having a much MUCH lower entry barrier), but it's pretty tiresome people dropping by to shitpost about it when they obviously know jackshit of the game. There is tons of shit to criticise Battleborn for, but calling it "budget overwatch" is factually incorret and just shit posting.

Battleborn is not "budget overwatch", it's a very different game, if i want to play something like overwatch i fire up overwatch, if battleborn was anything like overwatch and didn't offer a different experience i wouldn't play it, people are being dicks just for the sake of antagonizing a game they don't know jackshit about.

Possibly true, especially if it had a good amount of space to itself before Overwatch launched. I remember bad things about the game being how the characters were unlocked. Seemed like a pain, and to learn about the characters you had to do even more. Bad choice in setting that up maybe. I wonder how the free to play model is, character unlocks and such.

Should of been done earlier, but at least they are still trying to support the game! I really should get back to this. Game has certain charm to it that I like. Also nice of them for giving previous owners a gift/reward.

I said fatigue, it's been out a year, maybe they aren't as active in the game anymore. I said nothing of loot boxes. I'm going by my observations of Overwatch players I know. They were too into it when they got it and are slowly losing the drive. I loved games near their release and eventually start to try new things, that's what people do, and I said maybe people are more willing to try it now, not that they will leave Overwatch. Come on.

Edit: I know about the loot box situation, but that was honestly not even in my mind in this thread. Sorry, also I'm not putting down Overwatch here. Don't worry.

People enjoy co-op campaigns, and this game's is alright, plus new campaign missions are added from time to time, i think there has been about 5 or so character themed extra missions you can buy.

I sure wouldn't buy it. I'll have to see what you are locked out of with the free to play version. I wouldn't buy it because the main story mode which is surely locked behind the full version, is apparently difficult to do solo. The game going partly free to play won't make finding allies any easier, or by much (maybe it'll wake up some owners of the game).

I'm not a fan of FPS games myself, but I've been trying out many of the MOBA games to get hooked like the Dota2 and LOL players. I'm so jealous of them. One game to be the only thing you ever want to play is the dream. I had a touch of that with Final Fantasy XI, though MMORPGs require way too much time, never again. Though it saved me quite a bit of money not caring about other games, and even not thinking about gaf or E3.

I agree, it would definitely be in a better place now if that were the case. Battleborn launched in a situation similar to Titanfall 2. By all accounts of people who've actually played Titanfall 2, it's a great game that should have sold way better, but going up against Battlefield had a major impact on sales, and those games weren't even directly competing. Battleborn and Overwatch, different as they are from a gameplay perspective, were directly competing so it's no surprise things turned out the same way they did with Titanfall 2.

It would be a pretty bad idea to use in this game since twitch accuracy is actually a major part of the gameplay. A huge reason I love the game so much is because you can make use of your aiming skills to gain a very large advantage over other players, something you can't usually do in a MOBA outside of clicking faster

That character is a slow moving tank, in a traditional MOBA tanks are usually large and slow moving as part of the balance. Since BB is an FPS/MOBA they needed to balance that in regards to the FPS aspect as well so they kept him large and slow moving but with a very small head since Headshots deal additional damage. You wouldn't want to play as a tank that has an enormous hitbox for headshots would you

Don't worry, you can always practice with Bots to learn the underlying mechanics of the game. I was talking more about having trouble using a controller against people using KB + M in a hypothetical crossplay situation. I mean if you want, you can even play the game only against bots using a controller if you'd like and not have to worry about getting stomped.

I definitely say keep the DL going and give the game a try and if you would like to do some PVP against players I'd gladly join up with you and help you out since I've mastered every character in the game by now.

BTW there are also melee characters where aiming is not as crucial so being not so great at aiming with M + KB isn't as bad as it is in say CS:GO

Well, for one, I believe free to play games on PSN don't require PS+, and this game still does. So maybe there's that?

Probably Randy expects people to get enticed by the free version and buy the full game. Calling it F2P would mean there is only one version, no 'full' version.

There was a stigma. I think enough games have come out in the past 5 years that push that stigma away though.

That said, Randy might be living in the past looking at Gearbox's recent output, so I dunno.

Yeah them having melee characters is what made me think the combat wouldn't rely on high end aiming and twitch controls much. Though I wouldn't have discounted mouse/keyboard advantages like in Paragon PC vs PS4 with ranged characters. When I read your post I immediately thought of high end Quake Live caliber skills.

This game came out when the fans wanted another Borderlands. It was sent out to die. I feel bad because the few times I played it I did feel a sense of devotion from the team that built it.

Giving away the multiplayer free is cool because holy shit that story is garbage, not sure what's with the weird ass wording here though. Just call it "Free-to-play." Are you really worried about pissing off the people that paid for it, because I'm sure a majority don't care anymore at this point (and I'm one of those)

Good luck finding a match. They still have the locked game modes behind levels and forced tutorials which means it took almost 30 minutes to find one bot match with 4 other people. The match lasted about 6 minutes and then I was back to another very long wait time.

Then I uninstalled.

Characters can run by pressing the left stick and as you get equippable items you can improve the movement speed.

But, yes, Game is a Shooter MOBA, if traditional MOBA gameplay is not your thing, try Face off and Capture modes, the latter works like "Conquest" in the cybertron games.

I'm curious how the loot system compliments the gameplay in this. That's the one reason I'm excited to try it.

I'm the exact opposite, since I dislike FPS' and am not a huge MOBA fan, some of the heroes' designs is pretty much the only thing I find interesting.

Tried this for a while and yeah, not feeling this at all. Aesthetically, this game is overloaded, which I wouldn't find much of a problem if it was a typical moba, but gets disorienting for first person. I also couldn't get past the game's writing.

Gameplay is fine tho.

I will probably be sticking with Gigantic for the action moba fix if it doesn't bomb like this did.
