Who knows, wasn't BF3 CPU intensive? It could be a factor or I could be completely wrong.

I doubt its CPU bound, the amount of extra CPU the x1 has is nominal when compared to the PS4's GPU advantage, I am still interested to know if the X1's CPU advantage is actually a net gain when you include the fact X1 needs more CPU bandwidth for snap features etc.

To clarify: BF4 running at a higher resolution than 720p in the PS4 dev environment. Final resolution when the game is optimised at launch!

Considering the Xbone version has been demoed extensively (multiplayer) and hasn't exactly garnered glowing impressions regarding visuals, I am not expecting much from either. Still I expect SP to look better than MP.

Maybe the surprise is Xbox One runs at 900p as well. He's a professional in the gaming industry who posts in a community filled with hardcore gamers in the known, expecting the PS4 to be MUCH, MUCH, better than Xbox One. It wouldn't be a surprise to the community if it was. The only surprise would be basically similar resolution and detail (with Xbox One maybe falling behind in the detail department slightly) or Xbox One being superior (unlikely).

It surely is reasonable to suggest that its not the X1 better than the PS4...

only rational I can see is that the PS4 runs at 900p/1080p and X1 is at 720p.... and PS4 still looks better at a higher resolution...THAT would be a surprise to own the X1 on all fronts, (even though we know the hardware is capable - but for Dice to not give a feck and show up the X1 would be unreal)

Yep. I suspect the XB1 footage might be more visually appealing for just that reason. The SP in BF3 was dramatically more impressive looking than multiplayer but it was also completely on rails. :
